I submitted an idea to Edison Nation.

I submitted an idea to Edison Nation. They didn't want it but now someone has patented it and are selling it. This is highly suspicious.

Where to go now, recomendations?

I just came across this blog, I was turned down twice. I ask the publisher to please post this as some of these are rather dated, if I may, can I ask if any readers like myself who may be running across this article who are in the same boat as I am. I have many ideas, lets just say its in my gene pool. What did some of you do next? What firms are reputable? I am an a simple honest sole, who likes to invent and I feel I am sitting on many good ideas. I am tired of sitting idle when only to see one of my ideas already out there cause someone else didn't sit idle not know where to turn. I am open to someone reaching out to partner up with. I have ideas in many areas, low tech and high tech, simple and complex. I feel for all of you that got scammed, so lets get together and beat them at their own game, so to speak. Guys, ideas are what America Great in the first place! Just say'n. Upon my closing, any advice is appreciated, and good luck to you all. Jsm

They Steal Ideas as you type them in...?

I went through the process of filling out Edison Nation ONLINE product submission form. I NOW believe they are reading the submissions as you type them in...! I tried to pay my $25 submission fee...and THE SITE tells me the card IS invalid. IT IS NOT. I called the card company to make sure all was well...tried to submit again...same message. So, NO SUBMISSION. Taking ideas part of this company? Anyone else gone through this? I also tried to call Edison Nation...no way to get to an operator to ask WHY my card was not accepted. STEER CLEAR OF THIS DISREPUTABLE COMPANY. @cltchamber @BBB_Charlotte

Many Complaints by Consumers

I was informed by Edison Nation that i could edit and resubmit my ideal again under their CROWD FUNDING PROGRAM. However, it was declined the second time at The Research phase 4 again. Besides, my ideal is completely different from the existing products that they claim is similar a inhibit my ideal from entering the market. Or that my product design has no appeal.

I was a member of edison nation and I belive it is a scam

I was a member of edison nation and I belive it is a scam, once you figure out that you have been taken. An edison nation team members MUTE your account so you can not tell other members of the forms about how you where scammed and the phone number edison nation has listed is a fake number. Edison Nation cuts off all contact with you. I have spoken with the owner of Edison Nation about the muting of accounts, He seems much more trustworthy the his employees. He stated that he did not know anything about the muting of account and that he will look in to the matter. I will keep the members of everyone updated.

I don't trust them

I have had three ideas reviewed by Edision Nation and they all failed at stage 4 like most ideas do. The review they gave me had nothing to do with my projects and makes me wonder if they even read the documents submitted by inventors. I won't spend anymore time or money with Edison Nation.

This company is disgusting

This company is stealing ideas left and right. They are stealing them and selling in several countries, there's several people that bring these topics up on their website and they are deleted as fast as they are posted. Stay away from these crooks.

Rip off

I submitted a couple ideas with Edison Nation and they do "research" and find patents that have nothing to do with your invention and u get the X. Also, asking questions will also get u X'd out. They take months and months to review ideas when much larger companies can evaluate ideas within 2 weeks. There's currently members with Edison Nation that have had their ideas marketed behind their backs, the company is a joke and the employees are awful. I would research other companies. Most won't charge u

Dimensions

From what I have seen on your site most of your items are small. My item would be approximately the size of a carry on luggage. Is this acceptable. I would like to have this information before proceeding. There are several parts to my invention, at least 5. Also, I have done a prior art search with the assistance of a tech college. I received the certificate of completion with satisfactory results. They cannot assist me any further and I would like to get moving with my idea. I do not have a patent. The drawings required have been an issues for me with USPTO requirements. Thanking you in advance for your assistance and speedy response

It mite be a good invention

i gave in 3 inventions and i got a x by stage 4 by all of my inventions the resin i still love dis company is because they give the inventor an ease way to know if the inventor is wasting time by dreaming about his invention boot ween an inventor is submitting an invention remember Edison nation only except invention that is mass market so don't give up if you feel your invention might give you mony you don't have to use Edison nation i think that it is not nice that Edison nation only gives feedback for insiders an inventor wants to know wot is not good about his invention

My experience with Edison Nation

I submitted a few product ideas to Edison Nation. There are a LOT of Edison Nation junkies who subscribe to this genius marketing ploy so using their forums to point out any shortcommings doesn't work. They sign up subscibers by the boatload and charge a small fee for submissions. All well and good if legit. But what % of their income is derived from actual licensing? I see very light duty, non-costly type ideas make it through occasionally but have to believe it's only to keep up their seeming credibility. I can tell you from experience that the competing patent search results they use to decline your submission aren't even close to what you'd expect. You would have to be an *** to think that what they found as existing patents are anywhere close to what a genuine patent attorney would agree with - just about anything and everything that're barely in the ball park going back as far as the 1800's. Anyway, "you get what you pay for" still applies. Edison Nation and a couple of bucks will still get you a cup of coffee.

EN stole my idea after it made it to Stage 3

Within a year and a half after I submitted my idea for a cat litter box and bag system in which litter can be sifted through holes in the bag and clumps remain behind, The product "Sift and Toss" cat litter bags showed up on the shelves of pet stores made in China distributed by All Star Products. The mesh bags are virtually identical to the ones I submitted. Unfortunately, I trusted Edison Nation and did not read the fine print in the contract you must submit to do business with them and I did not have a patent. I later learned that even if I had had a patent, they reserve the right to reassign the patent to themselves. Below is the exact wording from their contract. I hope someone will see this before this before signing a contract with them. EN has effectively "buried" all complaints about them to page 2 or 3 of search engines so that their positive reviews are all on page 1. DO NOT trust them. The wording of the contract states in several places: "WHEREAS Edison Nation desires to Consider the Innovation for purposes of possible acquisition of the Intellectual Property;" "Assignor irrevocably quitclaims, sells, assigns, transfers, and conveys to Assignee all rights, title, and interests in, to, and under the Intellectual Property. Assignor does not, however, transfer title to, or grant any rights or interests in, any tangible articles of the Intellectual Property.Assignor further covenants and agrees, and binds any and all heirs, administrators, legal representatives, nominees, and assigns, to assist and cooperate with Assignee in the preparation and prosecution of any patent, trademark, or copyright application included within the Intellectual Property and in the prosecution or defense of any interference, opposition, lawsuit, or other proceeding that may arise in connection with the Intellectual Property and, further, to execute and deliver to Assignee any and all additional petitions, oaths, assignments, or other papers or instruments that may be reasonably requested by Assignee; provided, however, that the actual, reasonable costs to Assignor that are incurred in compliance by Assignor with such assistance and cooperation will be reimbursed by Assignee.Assignor further covenants and agrees to authorize and empower Assignee to invoke and claim for any patent application, patent, trademark application, and trademark registration included within the Intellectual Property the benefit of any rights to which Assignor might be entitled under international law or under the laws of any particular country, and to invoke and claim such rights without further written or oral authorization from Assignor. Assignor appoints Assignee as its lawful attorney-in-fact to act on its behalf for the limited purposes of effecting recordation or public notice of the assignment of any of the Intellectual Property, including the execution of assignment instruments for purposes of recordation with, for example, the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and the U.S. Copyright Office.Assignor further covenants and agrees that this Assignment shall inure to the benefit of the successors, assigns, legal representatives, or nominees of Assignee, without further written or oral authorization from Assignor.""Innovator acknowledges that Innovator is entering and upon submission entered into this Agreement only after careful consideration of this Agreement and the Innovator Assignment and Commercialization Agreement, and that Innovator has had full and fair opportunity to seek legal advice concerning the rights and obligations of the Parties to this Agreement." "During the Term of this Agreement and subject to Section 3 below, in consideration for Edison Nation’s promise to Consider the Innovation, Innovator agrees to enter into and immediately sign, without negotiation, the Innovator Assignment and Commercialization Agreement attached as Exhibit A, including all of the terms and obligations, upon receipt of a Notice of Selection for commercialization of the Innovation." " WHEREAS Assignor agreed to the terms and conditions of the Prior Agreement as part of a submission that Assignor entered on the Edison Nation Web site, the Submission Acknowledgement for which is included as Schedule A; WHEREAS Assignor is obligated under the Prior Agreement to sign this Assignment for purposes of possible commercialization of one or more products based on the Innovation submitted by Innovator to Assignee under the Prior Agreement; and WHEREAS Assignee desires to acquire, in accordance with the terms and obligations arising under this Assignment, all rights to the Intellectual Property now existing or created in the future that are associated with the Innovation;" "Any and all inventions; any and all domestic, foreign and international patents and patent applications, including any reissue, reexamination, extension, renewal, substitution, conversion, confirmation, division, continuation, continuation-in-part, provisional, nonprovisional, and the like of any patent or patent application, and any patent or patent application claiming a right of priority to any of the foregoing; all domestic, foreign and international trademarks and trademark applications and registrations, and related domain names and Web sites; all domestic and foreign copyrights; trade secrets; know-how; and designs; and including any refinements, changes, variations, derivatives, and improvements of the foregoing; and any past or present right or cause of action arising under any of the foregoing, including the right to sue for infringement, which are incorporated in, embodied by, or otherwise directly related to an Innovation."
