Drees not being responsive considering money we have spent!

We closed on our house this year on March 20, 2023! We appreciated our sales associate but things with the builders...not so much. Since our rushed walk thru the week that we closed, the Super or the project manager has come back to do anything they said they would do. We still have type on the wall where towel racks should be hanging, splattered paint on our expensive wood tray ceilings that were not cleaned, about 4 doorknobs that have complete fallen off because they were installed wrong, screws missing from door hinges, bad paint jobs, lightbulbs missing from fixtures, chipping already in primary bath and no one has come back or responded. We spent over $650,000 on our home and thought they would do a better job. WE searched for 4 years for a perfect home and as a Real Estate agent I am very disappointed. We didnt mind paying the expense but we would like some good customer service.

Horrible materials used

The lumber used for the studs is the worst I have ever scene. I have never scene lumber of this quality on the shelf at the home improvement stores. I think they bought cheap lumber for a deeply discounted price so they could make a profit. None of the wood has level sides.

Things Not Done Right

We love the house but there were issues prior to move in (which have all been taken care of) thanks to Landon (he's great and followed up until everything was completed). However; we just realized that the doors in the study are uneven and one of the has some weird staples in the bottom that prevents it from closing over the padding we have on the floor. The stand alone tub actually moves (which it's not supposed to) and the water doesn't get hot, just warm. The shower leaks (I'm assuming it's because of the caulking not done properly). However, other than that, we have had no issues with the house so far and hopefully we don't have anymore issues. The only thing I don't like is how hard it is to do a warranty request. It's not like any of the other 2 builders that we had before, where you could go online, file your warranty request, they call you back, set something up and then come out to complete it.

Flooded House and they don't care

My house has flooded 10 times in 4 years. They don't care about the problem. I get to clean it up myself and they just say. We don't know why it happened. Your problem now. 10 times!! I would say maybe a construction issue in the way it's built after the first couple of floods.

Ongoing issues with Air Conditioner - Drees will not fix

We purchased a Drees home in June 2021. The AC has not worked properly since we moved into the house. Each time Drees sends someone out to tell us that we it's normal for the house to be 86 degrees with the AC blasting if it's 98 outside! They kept this up long enough to avoid the original 1 year warranty on the house. Recently the AC started turning itself off. We checked and heard a small crackling sound, so my husband opened to find that there's a short in the wiring of the AC. We called Drees, and we were told that his opening the panel to check on the crackling sound voided the warranty. They left without doing anything. Despite the fact the AC hasn't worked right from the beginning and despite the potential for a fire hazard, Drees once again avoided fixing their significant problem. I want to put out a sign warning everyone to avoid buying from Drees. They have handled our situation horribly and callously. These homes are too expensive not to have functioning AC in the south!

Product Does not meet expectation

I had a very bad experience about Drees home . We bought custom home from Drees last year . There were many issues highlighted during the closing and Dress told us that they will fix all these issues ..but it did not happen ..their customer service is very bad .. customer has to follow up many times and call them up to fix these issues ..they don't even maintain inventory of issues and we need to keep on reminding them time to time .. they will talk about all fancy things during sell but when they actually deliver product you will be disappointed . They left big hump in the floor of master bed room entrance ..they took almost 8 months to fix that issue ..when they fixed that they did sloppy work and now created a small slide in the bedroom entrance ..it is really disappointing ..i read many reviews regarding this ..when they fix one issue they actually create another issue ..now i need to follow up again to fix this issue ..their workers even don't clean up the mess that they create and expect customer to clean the mess they create during fixing. Will not recommend this builder to anyone . If at all you are buying, please make sure to inspect the house with professional inspector before closing and warranty expires . Their quality depends on who is your contractor and sub-contractor they don't have any fixed standard.

Taking way to long

We are building a house in the Cleveland market. In April 2021 we paid our deposit. I was told everything would be ordered at that time. Framing didn't start until September 20th. It's now October 26th and Framing not finished and waiting on MEPs to finish as well. I would be ok with delays if quality was top notch but its not. Biggest mistake ever ever

Poor customer service

When buying your house, Drees is all about making sure they are on top of you until they receive their final payment. After that, they are difficult to reach. Especially in our case when there was faulty equipment that caused injury, and they did very little to help. Instead of fixing the issue, it took us staying on top of them to get fixed. And the nature of the issue they would fix better. Was told that's what you paid for and that's what you'll get. It took many many more conversations to get semi-corrected. What tops

No windows

I was the first person to sign a contract for a home in the Redfern community in Columbia Station neighborhood. I signed the first week in October, 2020. My windows for my Sarasota should have been ordered then. Other homes in the development have windows. Homes in the Columbia Estates have windows. I am told that my windows are still on back order !!?? Three more weeks??? My electrical work is getting all wet from the snow this morning because the house isnt sealed. I should have windows and drywall now. I could be getting siding now. But... my house is getting wet and sitting idle because??? No one calls me back with a acceptable explanation. Im tired of getting a run around.

Buying

Im looking for a new home in the middle Tennessee area. Looking for a builder I went to Drees custom build and then I was horrified about the trim work and a bunch of other stuff very sloppy. Actually I think I could cut my mobile better than that, The next house I went to was a Stillwater. It was very much half the size but it was 200% bill so much better. So sad but I have to say no to Drees in middle Tn

BAD SALESMENSHIP

RUN AWAY!! SALES LADY WAS RUDE AND OTHER SALESMEN TOOK TWO MONTHS TO PRICE A HOME WE WERE INTERESTED IN. ALL THEY WANTED WAS A LOT DEPOSIT AND SIGNED CONTRACT BEFORE THEY WOULD PRICE ANYTHING ON THE HOUSE. THIS IS NOT GOOD BUSINESS. DO NOT BE TAKEN, FIND ANOTHER BUILDER!!!

Sales agent

We have viewed and discussed for several weeks, with the sales agent, the purchase of the model home while being assured STRONGLY that an amateur radio tower was permissible. We were having difficulty obtaining written confirmation of this so requested this permission in writing. While unable to obtain that, while STILL being assured it was okay, we requested a copy of the HOA which finally was produced. It CLEARLY states in 3.16 that an antenna/tower was DEFINITELY not allowed. The HOA had been filed since February 2020. So we have been misled the whole while. We were prepared to contract and deposit a significant amount of money for this house. Either the agent was not knowledgeable of her business or hoping for a sale under any circumstances. Under these circumstances we no longer intend to purchase a house from Drees.

Dissatisfied

The Dree's experience was far from a fun experience. From the first meeting with Dan "The Builder" I had nothing but problems. During the framing inspection I realized that Nice Nhe could care less about building my home as the framers were using the plans from another house! Had I not mentioned that there were differences, the interior would have been different and Dan's answer was that I have the correct plans, "they can download them like I did"! The house is ok. Poor workmanship in many areas. Haven't heard back as to when anything will be fixed, figure this IS the Dree's experience!

Beware and document everything. They like to lie about what they will fix and never do.

Our yard is a total mess. We had no idea that the fairly flat lot that we purchased with the home was going to turn into a bunch of huge hills and the dumping ground for the neighborhood water drainage. Our yard gets saturated by 4 homes water that comes into our yard turning it into a river and taking the yard with it. They planted the seed as promised but because of the volume of water running through it just took the soil and seed away. They then sodded some turning our yard into a patch quilt and promise to finish sodding, then they just said it just needed fertilizer. Our sidewalks and porch steps came away from the house because of the yard sliding. The tree in front is tilted. Our yard is useless for 3 days after a rain, and we can't get any grass to grow because it just keeps washing away. That's just the outside. When we needed the carpet on the stairs tightened the warranty person stapled it with a staple gun. Dree's does not back up the mistakes their people make. It's either they are a contractor or what they've done is acceptable to Dree's. Just beware. Don't let them push the repairs down the road unless in writing because you will just hear that they never said any such thing. the pictures below show that we had a fairly level lot, the amount of water receive, the patch quilt that Dree's feels is acceptable, and the gap between the driveway and ground that they said is ok. The driveway concrete doesn't need to touch the ground. Just waiting for that to crack. You can see they built the house and then pushed the dirt up around the house and it just sinking and going away from the house. I hope this helps someone. I live in Eagle Ridge, Alexandria Ky if you'd like to see it for yourself.

I hope you learn from my mistake

Drees Homes Nashville, TN The presentation is too good and that is exactly what got me. You get less house and more worries when you deal with Drees. The reason i decided to build my house with Drees instead of other small builders was obvious, i wanted peace of mind. You will see what kind of peace of mind i received in this deal. There has to be a reason why this company is not registered with the Better Business Bureau or why you cannot review them on their Facebook page and such. They use the same semi-skilled workforce that anyone else will, but want to charge you custom and quality prices. You will be pushed and convinced to close with a punch list and once you do, the fun begins. You will now enter in your brand new home and the first thing on your list is to fight with them to make things right, that were wrong to begin with. Waste your time on scheduled repairs, touch ups and most importantly, you will have to remind them everyday what is pending. What to expect when you build your home with Drees floors may creak and squeak, if you have two window arches, one may be curved and the other may be straight, then one may be black and the other may be white, walls may be uneven, glass may be chipped, windows may be scratched, cabinets may be uneven, decks may come with splinters, concrete patios may have scars and stains, paint job may be at beginner level, house may be unclean, sod/grass may be dead, dry and incomplete, electric outlets may not work and a lot more if you are lucky like me, you will get your house with all of the above and while the house is being built, the biggest catch is the part of the project where they do a cost plus with you, the site prep, huge headache and a bottomless pit where they will throw your money like they want and the biggest surprises will come from there. The pictures that i have posted here are from days after the closing of the home. Staff is rude, greedy, unprofessional and all they care about is you signing the contract. After that they want to save and squeeze every penny from this project and you will be treated as if you do not exist. They say you work all your life to build and pay for your home and companies like this one and their employees will rob you of the joy of owning your dream home. You will own a home they build and it is possible that at some point in time everything may be alright if you are very lucky, but the experience will be stressful and bitter. They will use assumptions, arguments and give you stress instead of accepting their mistakes and making things right like they are supposed to be. One day after the closing of my home, i saw a couple standing by my sidewalk and wondering if they could see my house, as they wanted to build one and they were doing their research. I gave them a tour of my home, put in a good word for the builder, gave them the realtors number and the builders representatives number as well. Wish i had not done that.
