Complaints

We had a prepaid reservation. They had no car. Waited an hour and a half still no cars. Told us only way to get one was to pay for an upgrade and then we could have one right away. I told them they should give us what they had and they refused. I want a call and I want this upgrade charge taken away

Cannot talk to a person

You cannot talk to a person and when you get to an extension you need its rings a few times and then hangs up

Pissed

I rented a car through a third party for Dollar and arrived to Houston TX to no availability and stood in line for 3 hours in the 105 degree heat. So I left to arrive to my appointment. Was promised a call back in which I never received, only to go through the same thing again the next day. And their employees are rude and dont care that they screwed up. And to make matters worse, theres no number to call to talk to a human being. If you request a human, the IVR hangs up on you. Terrible company!

Have tried to contact several people regarding recent rental at JFK. Price gauges and discrimination. Please look at rental contract 42508****, and reservation k527477****. Overcharged by about $900 for a single day rental. Also charged for coverage already paid for. Complaint filed with BBB.

Have contacted customer service via email and phone..

Arrived at JFK rental location, absolutely worst customer service Ive experienced. Prebooked, and prepaid a rental over a month in advance. They did not have my car class. I booked a T, which is a large suv. They offered an upgrade to a T6, which is also a large suv. They started at $200, again- they said they will not have my car today. I had no other option. I walked away to discuss and returned 10 minutes later. The same upgrade jumped to $400/day (in addition to what I had prepaid) Again, discussed- another 10 minutes it was now $600. My $319 prepaid rental ended up costing $1271.67. This was a ONE day rental! Upon returning to another location 19 hours later, they were very concerned for my experience. They said its basically the same car class, and the most theyve ever done it for was $30/day. Despite the rental agent just completing the contract, and adding every possible add-on, which I declined multiple times, as collision damage was already included in my prepayment. I feel completely taken advantage of, as I had no other options, and they were aware I had no options. They had also offered the same vehicle to other customers for a lot less money. It was sickening to witness. I have reached out to Robert Brighton multiple times with no response. I have called customer service only to be on hold for an hour. I have responded negatively to all reviews. I have also filed with the BBB. This is an absolutely awful experience I hope no one else has to go through. I am hoping for a resolution.

FAMILY MEDICAL EMERGENCY - PREPAID RENTAL (US76930****) WAITED 6 HOURS TO PICKUP VEHICLE CHARGED FOR 2ND DRIVER FALSE ADVERTISED DISCOUNTED RATE NOT HONORED DELAYED DEPARTURE AN ENTIRE DAY DUE TO EXTREME DECEIT, DECEPTION, and FRUSTRATION - and AFTER THE 6 HOUR WAIT WE WERE EXPECTED TO BE GREATFUL FOR WHATEVER CAR THEY GAVE US and PAY THE ADDITIONAL COST WITHOUT COMPLAINING - BE GREATFUL YOU EVEN GOT A VEHICLE. I DOUBT I WILL HEAR FROM ANYONE FROM DOLLAR BUT I WOULD REQUEST AN ADDITIONAL DAY JULY 31ST RETURN TO NORFOLK INT AIRPORT AT NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE PLEASE AND REFUND THE 2ND DRIVER FEE OD $13.50 PER DAY FOR MY WIFE TO SHARE THE DRIVING SO WE ARRIVE 12 HOURS LATER SAFELY AT THE HOSPITAL WERE MY DAD IS IN ICU

Overcharged

Overcharged, I did my booking through the Expedia . When I reached at the airport, they said it's different location . I had to extra for up grate . Didn't have other choice at 10:00 pm in the night . They were suppose to charge me 64 dollars when I received the receipt today its 191.88 . Its just ridiculous to for 1 day rental 261.36 (ca) and 191.88 (US) dollars. I was supposed to return my car on 22nd of July but I returned it on 21 July in the morning plz call me at +141********. Thanks

Making complaints

Rented vehicle had reservations ang never received vehicle. Over booked. I waited in line at the Buffalo Airport for 2 hours before I was told they had no vehicles available.

Never received vehicle.

Order the vehicle 10 days before renting. And when I got to the airport, there was no vehicles available. I flew in from Florida and was unable To recieve vehicle. Because there was none available. This was a great inconvenience for me as I had to wait in line for 2 hours And was told there was no more vehicles available. I will never recommend Dollar or Hertz.

Buffalo, NY Airport Dollar Car Rental Failure

I had a reservation for a car at the Buffalo, NY airport, Dollar rental car. After waiting in a long line and arriving at the counter, the agent did not acknowledge me. I then had to say something to get his attention, to which he responded they had no cars. I was stranded at the Buffalo, NY airport because the other car rental companies were completely booked. I contacted Dollar rental car customer service via email and was asked to provide the $370 in receipts I took on. After submitting the receipts, I was then offered a $50 voucher and told a reservation is not something that can be guaranteed. Dollar/Hertz at the Buffalo, NY airport do this to travelers ALL THE TIME. Read their Google reviews and never, ever rent from them. Dollar corporate customer service also sucks! They won't simply reimburse the documented expenses I took on as a result of their negligence.

I am very unhappy

No one seems to be able to adjust my bill due to the fact that I had to wait 4 hours to get my rent a car with extremely poor service. Please review my claim 1860****. We got the car on 7/1 at 5:30 AM that was reserved for 11:30 PM on 6/30. We had to wait in line for 2 hours then wait with no available setting another 2 hours to get a car. I paid for a hotel that I was unable to use and we missed opportunity to tour LA due to your company lack of service. This was truly the worst experience of my life. I am requesting a refund on my account. Also I want to talk to someone in Corp to understand your way of customer service.

Horrible Customer Sevixe

We landed in Louisville Kentucky today on July 5 2023 with 1 representative handling both dollar and thrifty counter. This is absolutely unacceptable. Those in the front of the line have been waiting an hour and a half. Im at the back of the line. I will be calling the CEO tomorrow morning and demanding my REFUND. I missed an important event! Waiting on this line.

Case #23021****

After having the car for an hour not even the tire went flat an their was a gaping hole on the side of the tire. The tow was $200 and the tire was 188.35 brand new. I would like to get some kind reimbursement because this was a horrible experience. Thank you

They charged me twice

I prepaid through AAA. We waited in line for 2 and a half hours only to be told that they are sorry that we had to replace our lost/stolen credit card, but we needed to pay for another reservation. Now that weve paid TWICE we are waiting in line (3:45am) only to be faced with a car shortage. I would appreciate a phone call to rectify this situation at 484-678-****. My name is Stacey Brickus.

Billing problems

The front desk salesperson will click on all add on sale items on his computer screen to your car rental and will not even tell you about it. Wouldnt print the charges for you to see it before you pay ! He will just rush you to put your credit card into the pad and have you sign and charge you! Only then he will print your ticket and throw it to you like a robot will tell you the parking lot number where you will find the make and model vehicle( not the one you was promised on the app or website you prepaid a lot of money for) ! You most likely will end up paying double insurance charge all bunch of other made up additional charges like road side premium and toll service that should be provided free of charge anyway. At the end you will be charged $ 350 combined between your original reservation on Hopper or similar apps and Dollar for not even full two days of rental in my case day and a half! Rip off big time!!! Stay away !!!
