Possible Fraud!

I have been calling the numbers I find for direct buy warranty and it seems NONE of the listed telephone numbers actually allow you to speak with the company. I feel I paid for a service that DOES NOT EXIST. BUYERS DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE THAT I DID!!! I purchased this plan in 2014 and had the opportunity to use it once and now that I have another claim I'm unable to get any type of real response. The 888-865-**** number from the brochure doesn't work neither does the 732-333-**** on the website. I am so PISSED that I spent 2100 on this fraudulent warranty insurance. So at this point what do I do? Any answers or leads to get my money back will be greatly appreciated.

Total Scam

Purchased in 2014 for $1692. Went to use it last year and mechanic could not even get in touch with them. After numerous attempts he was finally able to get through. They agreed to pay only half of the $250 estimate. They never sent the check to the shop. Tried to call again and many times the phone would go busy and no response. Of course, I had to pay the full $250. I would have been happy paying just the half, but they would not even send a check. Just found out today that they are out of business, and I am out $1692.

Direct Buy Warranty Is a scam

I purchased a Warranty from Direct Buy, when i cancelled it they told me that they would refund me more than $1800.00, to this date, six months later, i haven't received anything. But to make it worse, they went out of business. I believe that i will never get my money. I hope that someone makes them pay for this one way or another because they shouldn't get away wit this type of business doing this to anyone. There needs to be some kind of protection for consumers to prevent this from happening to me or anyone else. If there is a lawyer out there that would go up against them, i wish to talk to him. I figure that the consumer does't stand a chance with companies like these, no matter how hard you try. But i do believe that right now they are probably back in business under a different name that is similar to the old name?

PLEASE HELP WITH LAW SUIT AGAINST DIRECT BUY WARRANTY

I purchased warranty last year and they are not covering my vehicle and no refund. I live in California and would like to know how I can sue this company? Is there any class action suit against them? Does it have to be from CA since I live here? Should I sue them personally? Also: There website and direct phone number is no longer working. How do I find them? My email is ash_offspring@***.com. Originally, my mileage on vehicle was stated to them at 69k for coverage to begin at 70k. However, they changed paperwork to 74k. I had a water pump break down at 71k and they would not cover it. I have audio proof and contractual proof that my vehicles miles were at 70k when coverage was to begin. I am happy to take a full refund of $1,600 for my case and be done with them! However, I cannot get a hold of them so I'll now have to sue. Thanks for any help you can provide!

Direct Buy Auto Warranty

Updated by user May 05, 2016
I had signed up with Carchex and let the sales rep from Direct Buy talk me into cancelling with a better price, more options such as tire and rim and the no deductible for my first two visits.

I took my car to AMMCO Transmission which is who they recommend, they said it was valve body, normal wear and tear. I asked them which codes showed up and was told there was no codes to review.

The manager's next comment was wanting to know if it was okay to give my number to his boss since his bosses wife was looking for a mini cooper. I called and spoke to customer service and told them what happened and that I wanted to take my car elsewhere, the customer service rep said that was find he would to.

I told him that I could drive it to the dealer since they were only five minutes away and was told fine, then to get denied because I drove it to the shop.

I sent a email to a service rep who gave me her email address and asked her to forward to someone in upper management, she told me the one listed was on there web page was not monitored. Now her emails comes back as "undeliverable".

I took my Mini Cooper to the shop because of transmission issues and gave them my warranty information. During this process I am told that it is not covered because it was driven to the shop and condition not safeguarded. I was also told that if I was not satisfied then I could appeal this decision. When I finally got someone to talk to me today I was told decision was final and I was told this. That is not correct, you can check your phone call on December 30, 2015 at 11:54 A.M. when I talked with Chris Johnson and you will see that this is not true. Anyone that knows about these transmissions will be able to tell you that once it gets hot, operating temperature, and the first slip occurs from “internal failure” it is totaled just by driving it to a safe haven if you’re lucky and any driving from that point forward is just a matter of luck because complete failure is imminent and there is no more damage that can result. Unfortunately this is a use and toss world and these are not something that is rebuiltable, not like the old 55 ford, which is why replacement consists of transmission, torque converter and valve body from the factory. Besides the repair of my vehicle I feel like I saved you at least $100 tow bill, the vehicle can be cranked up and driven find right up until the transmission gets hot. This is the first company that I have ever dealt with that has no one at Corporate office that will speak to you about a problem. Have had issues getting thru on your phone lines as well as the maintenance facility that was calling in on my vehicle, sit on hold and the phone disconnects. I called my sales rep, Chris Taylor at 3:09 P.M. on January 5, 2016 at Ext. 8823 and left a voice mail. I guess he must be out of town. The phone system alone is enough to put someone in a poor frame of mind just to get thru.I have dealt with the public for years and even as Management not wanting to talk to customers, it still falls under the job classification and if it doesn’t it should. The customers that you do not want to talk are also the ones that provide you and others as well as your families a paycheck. I always find that bi-weekly check to be very helpful for food, clothes, medical, utilities, etc., little things that keep coming up in our day to day lives.

Class Action Suit in Texas

I like everyone in this complaint forum have been ripped off by Direct Buy Auto Warranty. We tried cancelling our contract in January 2016 and did everything they requested to get part of our money back and its now April 2016 and the company has not responded to our certified mailings, phone calls and emails. Needless to say we got ripped off $5000.00 for covering two of our vehicles. I am in the process of trying to find a law firm or class action suit for customers located in Texas. I've contacted the Texas Attorney General but not sure if they will do anything. We need a lot of folks from Texas to complain to them in order to start a class suit. Here is a link to the AG https://texasattorneygeneral.gov/contact-form/

Total Fraud

Bought an extended warranty, sold the car, agreed on the refund amount, but can't get the refund. They do not answer their e-mails or phone. They owe me over a thousand dollars. It's been six months, but no refund. I would never recommend anyone to ever buy anything from this company. As far as I am concerned, they are a total scam. Zack Harper, who I bought the warranty from, assured me that he would take care of my every need. He failed to mention only until I get your money.

The best strategy against DB Warranty I've found so far

Like many of you, I am also a victim of this scam/sham/fraud of a company, but instead of posting my experience I'd like to post some actionable steps I feel will help facilitate a positive change. 1. Submit a complaint to your state insurance commission. If your state regulates it's insurance market, a vehicle service contract (VSC) falls under their jurisdiction. 2. Chances are, DBW does NOT have a license to sell in your state. This immediately escalates your complaint and case number. 3. My state insurance commission contacted DBW on my behalf and put some real pressure on them to explain their case for denying my claim. 4. Failing to comply, my state agency has turned the matter over to it's legal branch and is pursuing enforcement action which will most likely lead to a C&D (Cease and Desist) order officially barring them from selling contracts to residents of the state. 5. Violating that order will thereafter expose them to more severe legal and punitive action. 6. This is a very easy step and most states have an online form you can fill out to file a complaint. The state insurance commission does most of the grunt work on your behalf. 7. If they get enough C&D Orders from enough states, their ability to operate will eventually be chocked to only states which are not regulated. Eventually this will hopefully force them to shutter their operation. Also, Feel free to file against them in Small Claims Court. While they may try to invoke the Arbitration Clause in their contract, be aware that the AAA (American Arbitration Association) will not arbitrate with Direct Buy because they fail to honor their policy regarding customer claims.
