People there scam you

I paid for the installation and services etc. I had problems with them and called another company to take over. The other company found that there was no wiring connected to the alarm system! I contacted Devcon who told me that the small print of the contract means that they are not liable for anything their employees do or don’t do ! Don’t trust any company that behaves like that!

Incorrigable! Ripping off senior citizens!

In 2012, Devcon (later combined with Monitronics and Pinnacle) showed up at the door of my (then) 83 year old mother's home in Colorado. They sold her an elaborate security system with an in-home video monitoring system that ANYONE could easily pull up on line and see my mother puttering around her house. We were able to cancel the contract and I have the signed documents in my possesion. I discovered this week that Monitronics has been debiting my mother's checking account ALL THESE YEARS! Now that I have taken over her finances this abuse/theft is discovered. I stopped payment and will pursue legal action. SHAME ON THEM!!!

Conned and trapped in ridiculous contract

I signed up with Devcon & was told it was a 1 year contract, last year they sold to Monitronics, which has terrible service. 2-1/2 years later I am moving and I call them to cancel service & they're telling me it was a 3 year contract? My old account information is in storage so I need to verify that but it makes me mad. I'd never have knowingly signed a contract for any service for 3 yrs - just not practical these days. I asked the guy at Monitronics if I could "buy-out" of my contract at a discount & he said no that I was stuck.... AND they will not stop monitoring the house until the contract expires - even though I sold the house and I warned the new owners to NOT use Monitronics. How do they get away with that and no county permit?? I don't know how companies get away with this kind of mentality. I have home security and I don't even own a home!

Devcon Alarm Installation Caused Damages - They Refuse to Resolve

Devcon installed the alarm system I currently use in my home. Their Dallas based crew had NO IDEA what they were installing - this should have been the first clue to stop and not continue doing business with them. Not only did I learn more about the alarm system overnight than the installer knew - who was a certified industry professional - I had to make changes to the system to make it function correctly. THEIR INSTALLER CODE WAS THE DEFAULT 4321 OF THE SYSTEM!! Holy moly... Well time went by, I argued with them by phone and email about the functionality and expectation of the design only to find out they were full of it. Over a year later I visit one of the bedrooms to find that the installer did not seal the window sensor correctly and NOW I HAVE WATER DAMAGE!! Also, I had them install magnetic sensor on my garage bay doors to secure that area. The installer incorrectly aligned one of the sensors and MY GARAGE DOOR IS BROKEN! Move forward a little more and DEVCON SELLS MY ACCOUNT TO MONITRONICS. MONITRONICS could give a rats tail about me as they are just getting a recurring stream of revenue from my family. Customer service? No. Customer retention? Go talk with Devcon. So I call and email Devcon. The DO NOT RETURN MY CALLS OR EMAILS. Instead, they sent me a CERTIFIED LETTER from their LEGAL DEPARTMENT effectively telling me to go pound sand. No resolution and stuck in a contract for 1 more entire year. They all want me to come out of pocket for the repair expenses and feel this is perfectly acceptable. My advise: Do NOT purchase equipment or services from these companies. They do NOT care about you and have no intentions of providing a high level of customer satisfaction.

Constant calling re cancellation

I sold my home in Florida a year ago and rented it back. I had prepaid the security for a year. We were moving out and did not renew of course at the date of renewal. They sent multiple bills which I did not pay. They called constantly and wanted to know why we did not pay. We told them we sold the house and were moving out. Them they claimed the contract required us to notify them in writing . We sent them a letter. They still called. I have told them the simple act of not paying the renewal should be sufficient. My lawyer agrees, I'm building a new house in Naples . I will never use them and suggest you don't either. They have called at least 50 times. Horrible service. boarder471701@***.com

DEVCON are without good principles

DEVCON took over my alarm company, and so I got them to come and look over my system. They recommended new equipment, and so $3000 later they left and I thought all was ok.Later I had a disagreement with them about a small job they charged a lot of money for, and asked ADT ( another larger alarm company) to check out my system.ADT let me know that 40% of the alarm areas ( doors and windows) were not connected to the system, and that a bunch of wires were tucked away inside the alarm box and were not connected at all to the alarm system.I asked Devcon to put this right, and all they said is that it's my responsibility to check what they had done. I asked for my $3000 back and the charges since and they just said no.DO NOT HIRE DEVCON AT ALL.YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Quick to sign you up slow to fix a problem

Hello we signed up for the service and it was easy! The problem is when they set up our system they jimmy rigged one of the contacts. It worked until we used our window. They called for our feedback on how the service was going and we let them know it wasn't working. They let us know they would have someone contact us right away. Three weeks later we are making a call to resolve. 40 minutes into the call now and no one has answered. So they have the sales department staffed but when you need help that is a different story. Tech support apparently isn't important or is it the customer? By the way coming up on 45 minutes!

Lies

We went with Devcon because they said they were based in Orem Utah. They said they needed to set up payments with automatic monthly withdrawls from my checking account. I told them I wanted monthly billing statement mailed to me. They said it would only be for one month and then the statements would be mailed. It did'nt happen. Then they sold my account to Monitronics, in Texas. We had service with Monitronics in the past and did'nt like it and had trouble cancel the service. What happened to honest people in this country? All they care about is the money!

Poor Business Practice

Beware!!! If your lease is over and your Devcon contract has time left, you are screwed! Devcon will not take into consideration your accrued service time with them. They give you two options 1) renew at your new location for 3 more years, or 2) Pay a penalty for breach of contract. There sales people will not explain this to you. Keep in mind it won’t matter if you’re moving to a unit across your unit. WoW!!! I am very disappointed with Devcon and their crude business practices. There attitude is 3 more years or pay-up your remaining time, screw with your last 2 years of service with us.

Payment Scam

We bought their service on an impulse. Found it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Cancelled within 3 days. (At that time was offered a much more competetive rate but cancelled anyway.) Was then billed for 3 months. Called and got the charges reversed. Confirmed that it was cancelled and was assured it was. Just found that we have been charged for the past 4 months. Was told that someone in the cancellation department "dropped the ball" was assured we are now cancelled. Credit forthcoming but with no interest. There should be a penalty charge for them taking our money.

Misslead by salesman

I moved my business from one location to another... the new building i moved in had an alarm already installed. I called devcon to have my serivce transferred as i had 17 months left on my contract... They sent a salesman out even though i requested they not as i am busy and dont have time just send the service guy to activate alarm already in building.. Anyway i was very displeased with the sales guy and i wasnt going to do any more business with them he told me i had to complete my contract or pay it out so i figured may as well have the service for the months i had to pay for.... After the 17 months i tried to cancel and was told i had 3.5 years left on contract as i had a 5 year contract from time of my move even though this is not what i was told by the sales man.. I tried on several occasions to call and take care of this but it seems they dont care and are bent on trying to bully you into paying for work they are not even doing... Dont do business with these lowlife companies the only reason you need to lock people into service contracts is because you know you do a bad job and want to hold people hostage

Terrible Service from Devcon Security

Devcon Security ,Not professional,bad service, untrained sales people, it appears they are only after the money. Devcon Security, Do not train their sales force to advise customers on the permits they need before installing an alarm system. They sell you the alarm contract, never advise you that you need a local police permit to operate system but rather once you get a false alarm, oh by the way you need to get a local police permit in order to avoid being fined by the police department or city for not having a permit. On top of that they were billing us for over $480.00 for repairs on their equipment even though we had the equipment service protection which was an additional $7.00 more per month on top of our bill. Do not use Devcon Security, unless you want to get ripped off. They should be called Robb-Cons for Robbery cons

This company needs reform from tech to cust serv.

My panel reported a low battery several months ago. Not only was I inundated with emails and phone calls, so were both of my contacts listed. I called and talked to a nice rep who walked me through opening the panel with the alarm on full blast (she kept saying it shouldn't to that, even though it was unarmed, but there was no way to shut it off). She explained to me how to disconnect the battery and re-boot it & that it would take several days. 2 weeks later I was still getting phone calls & emails on a low battery. I called again & they told me I needed to buy a new battery for $25.00. I did. Then had a tech savvy friend help me replace it while on the phone with Devcon because once again the alarm was going full on as soon as we opened the panel. No way to shut it off & the tech couldn't explain why it goes off as soon as you open the panel. It's been another 3 weeks and I'm still getting harassed day and night with emails and phone calls that the panel is reporting low battery. I called again and they said for $105.00 I can have a tech come out and assess the problem. Are you F'n kidding me? I complained loudly enough that they have waived the fee. I am sitting here as I write this waiting for the tech. Once this is cleared I will look at my monitoring contract to determine what's left. This system will be in the trash a.s.a.p. Poor customer service, your own team doesn't know what's going on. Re-boot the battery? Buy a battery? Call, call, call, call from rude reps. when I explain what's going on I get attitude instead of help. My 2 contact people want to ring my neck! They are being hassled day and night with my low battery problems. W.T.F.!

DO NOT GET DEVCON/PINNACLE/ or MONITRONICS AS AN ALARM COMPANY TOTAL SCAM!!

So we called to cancel less than 3 months into the contract only for them to say we were locked in for a 5 year contract. In the only sheet that we got it does not state that we were locked in at all. Custumer Service is worse than Walmart's customer service. We called again later that month only to be transfered to Monitronics. We spoke to a guy there and said that our account had been cancelled. Two months later we are getting a call that we need to pay because our account is still active with Devcon. They dont want to cancel the account and they never tell you that you are signing a 5 year contract and they dont give you that copy that says you sign for that time. Please read this review on time and do NOT get them as your alarm provider.

Provided a sales pitch

I have a comment I'd like to make on these posts. Several of you haven't even used the services of Devcon and it sounds as if you care very little for the idea of protecting your home using a home protection system. Several of my close friends, a family member and I use the services of Devcon Security and have experienced only good things. I think that if you're going to write a trashy review about a company on a website designed to harbor ill feelings, you should have at least asked someone about the company who actually USES it. Ignorance marks our pages of history with bigotry and hate, I seriously doubt that a company in "these economic times" needs to tred through that to provide a service that many find quite desirable. Furthermore, most reputable companies don't get a possitive rating with the BBB for no reason. I took the liberty to do additional research on the company and found that they currently have 38 complaints filed against them. So, 38 people who have actually used their services were upset for some reason. From the companny's website it appears that they currently have over 600,000 customers. When I spoke with a representative from the BBB he confirmed that this information was accurate. You do the math, 38 dissatisfied customers compared to 600,000. Perhaps some of you had a poor experience with a salesman, we personally bought our system from a door to door salesman. Of course there's a pitch involved with selling a product- you experience the same concept when you walk into a grocery store to purchase a product at a discount rate; it's a sales tactic to get you to buy off the shelf. If you're not interested in protection by the means of a security alarm, don't take the pitch. It appears to me that GE has a line of home protection equipment and that DEVCON is a licensed security dealer for GE, so the fact that a salesman would reference GE ought not to ruffle your feathers- the companies in that way are inseperable and affiliated. I'm a business owner and hate to hear complaints about a company based on these types of websites. I am even more disturbed when one of my customers sees that I've chosen to secure my own business with Devcon Security and makes the comment that they are a scam and that they read reviews on a website about the company's poor tactics. I thought I might venture to see what they were talking about. If you've posted a review here or somewhere else do realize that you've done so with a website that banners under the name of "pissed consumer" or something else negative, which seems altogether unprofessional to me. I wonder what would happen if I google "positive reviews + Devcon Security." If anything is a scam it's these types of websites and the ignorance they incite. Bottom line is this: if you're going to write a review actually USE the service before writing the review and be level headed enough to verify your assumptions and claims. Businesses could do without websites that are poorly pieced together and fuming with a lack of knowledge. And one more thing, if you're going to be audacious enough to post negativity about a company with which your dealings extend no further than the front door of your home, be bold enough to use your name. I find it appalling that someone would slander against a company from the hidden cloak of computer screen, especially when the actual consumers of that company are quite satisfied!
