Disability insurance offered through my work

If your employee offers Dearborn policies RUN! Get another company to deal with. I almost lost my house, was forced to live on 6,000 or less for the year to pay for attorney fees. I was under constant stress, anxiety and financial burden dealing with this company. Despite having a legitimate claim, I was treated extremely poorly and consequently concerned about what BS they would pull next. Their goal is to NOT pay you! You will fight for every dime and will change the rules on you. Just run away!!! Dont trust them!

Poor treatment, poor customer service

Dearborn LTD Claims dept. Aka BCBSTx Does not respond to or answer your questions. Holds up your payment, repeatedly asks you for information already provided because their terms of service says they can. Wants an authorization to obtain information, then makes you go get it for them at your time and expense. Authorization states you are waiving Hipaa requirements (The Law) for them ro give, share, etc., information with whoever they want valid for Entire time you have a claim. Your authorization for someone to help you only good for 3, 6, 12 months. Attitude, terms of service, forms all based on their financial bottom line of reducing and eliminating payment to you as soon as possible, even before your SSDI claim is approved or getting paid and do not appear to care how you pay necessary living expenses.

Company in breech of contract

Please dont ever deal with this company, get a different insurance as soon as possible. They are the worse people to deal with after your loved one passes. I have been waiting for them to pay me for my father passing for a month now. I sent them everything that they required on the letter they sent, then they refused to pay said I need more so I submitted that again they needed more. They just prolong and prolong not to pay you. There is a lot of complaints on this company. I will never deal with them again and will tell everyone I know to do the same.

Unable to contact anyone about my account. Tried multiple phone numbers and none would connect. Every attempt would be dropped.

Life Christopher theall

This interaction was not satisfactory, moved from one person to another with only a transfer to the last person resulted in some semblance of help. The vision "specialist" was especially rude. Not ever going to recommend this company to anybody.

This company is a nightmare! They lie, lie, lie!

My short term claim was held up by the claim rep telling me he had taken action, and when I checked up with the companies he should have called, he never HAD called. I had to ask for a manager, he got the corrections done, and I received the std payments. My long term claim was also a nightmare. I called the physicians myself and verified they had submitted the records. I also called Datafied(the middleman) and Datafied had the records, and had sent everything to Dearborn--but Dearborn kept lying and saying they did not have the records. I called Datafied and Dearborn so many times, I even got the exact page numbers that the records were on! As of this post, I am at 3 months of Long Term Disability without receiving one penny of my claim!

HORRIBLE!!!

I needed to take a leave of absence from my employer after being on the *** of a nervous breakdown from depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. I have been seen by several doctors and medicated for over a year now. I applied for STD day one of my leave and here I am 3 months later still getting the run around to receive payment. Medical records have been requested over and over. Representatives telling me they still need additional information from the providers. They are meeting today to discuss my case with clinical. Clinical still needs more information. We haven't received documentation. It has been one excuse after another for 3 months and I am no closer to getting this resolved. I have to keep calling in to get a status update and each time I talk to someone I am told something different. And all of this of course increasing my depression, anxiety and panic attacks wondering how I am going to pay for basic necessities for me and my three children. I pay a premium faithfully through my employer and never had to use the benefit of STD in the five years I have been here until now. Paying a premium for a benefit that I can't use is me throwing money away every month. I'm sure my total premiums over the past 5 years add up to more than the 60% of income I am trying to get for STD.

i filed a short term disability claim july 3rd 2019. Inwas just denied my claim today oct 18,2019. They wanted tons of paperwork from the er doc and my primary care physician also from my pharmacy. After all of the work i have completed i was denied. This company is a joke! They dont care to help someone that was temporarily put off work which is why inpay the extra money. They have no problems getting my checks twice a month! Im canceling this policy asap!!! People beware dont waste your time or money!!!

Total Runaround

I have been jumping through hoops for over 75 days to resolve short term claim...more request...they do nothing...lies and scam. Still ok check and nothing but loss of time and. Obey on my side

Lies, lies and more lies

I went on STD in 2012 with this company. It took forever to get a payment, which resulted in my house getting foreclosed on. After I was FINALLY paid, I had to jump through a bunch of hoops getting Dearborn's physician statement filled out. No doctor wants to accept responsibility for the claim EVER. The way the paperwork is worded, it basically puts all the responsibility on the doctor. Since I have no insurance since I can't work, I can't afford to go to the doctor. I finally find a doctor to sign the paper work and my benefits get shut off for 3 months. My family and I were nearly homeless. Dearborn did not tell me my benefits were reapproved the money just showed up after 90 days. No phone calls, no letters, nothing. The case manager Mark, was a total joke. I finally get on LTD and they hound me for more and more paperwork threatening to stop my benefits. I have been awarded payment until 2035 but I am still having to jump through hoops. Case workers change without notice and each one is more horrible than the last. IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

HORRIBLE COMPANY

Went out on short term disability and submitted everything they needed. NICOLE B is a horribly case manager for the company, i feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with her. I have gotten the run around for weeks! Something needs to be done!

The wait for your money is ridiculously LONG.

Was out of work from June 21St, til present. I'm expected to be out of work atleast another 8 weeks..... Come home today to find I have no electricity, no money to pay bills. What's the point of paying for insurance, when it doesn't work when it needs to? They really need to fix that. I've been waiting almost 2 months for my first payment. By then, electricity and phones start to get cut off. Not to mention, no gas in the car, no money for Co payments for Dr visits. Nothing. What kind of STD company is this?

Very bad seevice

My husband was in the hospital for 3 weeks with pneumonia and heart failure. He has been unable to work Got denied all together. He pays into it and works very hard. This company should be shut down and reported. There will be a lawyer involved for sure with our case.
