Rude and Arrogant Employees

Commerce was supposed to close an account. They didn't and it racked up fees. They closed the account, never notified me. I got on some list banks use to not let anyone bank anywhere. I paid it off to get off list. It was only $200. After years Commerce won't let me open another account. I have a business account there. A branch manager was so condescending. He told me no then goes do you want to close the business account today. He basically told me Commerce doesn't want my business. I have some direct deposits coming in in a few days so I couldn't on the spot so he goes okay and got up. I couldn't believe how unprofessional and dismissive he was. He made it out like I was a criminal. He will get his wish. I will leave Commerce!

Poor customer service

I live in Houston and had a car loan with Commerce Bank that came through the dealer where I bought the car as I had never heard of this institution before. Last February I was finally able to pay off that loan. The last payment was made by calling customer service and they asked me for my information to make the withdrawal. Taking advantage of my call (which is recorded) I asked the employee to update my address in order to get the car title in the mail. Almost three months later the title did not arrive and when I called to see what happened they told me that the title was sent to the Dallas address where I lived when I bought the car. To make matters worse they tell me that now I have to pay a fee to send a copy for a process that Commerce Bank did wrong. It may sound silly but good service is in the details and honestly I am very disappointed with them. I do not recommend them.

Former customer - AVOID

I'd long forgot about this inept and unprofessional bank but recent news of several bank collapses reminded me of why we left Commerce Bank 20 years ago. At the time we were just beginning our lives post marriage and money was tight. Long story short, Commerce made it a shrewd business practice to thrive on others misfortunes. My wife overdrew our account one day which automatically caused an overdraft fee. You would think that any near term attempts to charge the account (esp. auto-draft/auto-pay) would be stifled by the banks software and keep their customer from continuing to receive overdraft fees. Well that is NOT what Commerce did. They tacked on over $300 in overdraft fees (2002 dollars no less!!) to several charges that my wife and I didn't even know was happening. It would have been nice if they had simply called. We could have transferred money from our savings over to cover the difference. I called to speak with the local branch manager who was very unpleasant and basically made this our problem and wasn't even interested in a compromise in order to keep a long term customer - albeit small potatoes in 2002 when this happened. I can only laugh all the way to bank now (with Etrade that is). With a solid multimillion dollar networth distributed across several accounts at Etrade now, it is Commerce's loss. So yes, they won on the $300 fees but they lost BIG TIME on the future. Never again. And what's even more revealing, Commerce is amongst several banks that are likely to fail in the coming weeks/months due to mis-management of their customers funds. Nothing like a run on the bank to put them out of their misery. Good riddance!!!

Been with Commerce Bank, NA, since before it bcame Commerce. The account was opened in 1986. For the last six months we have had trouble accessing out online account, often getting locked out.

Today, when I called, I spoke with two operators who stated that they were not on bank premises, but were not at liberty to disclose their location. I think the second one was washing dishes. I explained what I wrote above and then said that my next step was going to be a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Agency--and it is. About fifteen minutes later I had access to our account. Still filing the complaint. There are rules about online accounts. They must maintain Confidentiality, Integrty and Accessability. I have no faith that Commerce Bank, has any of them.

There service STINKS

Received a credit card, activated it and it doesn't work at the checkout lanes! Cant set up an online account.They don't call you back. Customer service line sucks big time! Their female help are *** when they answer the phone and tremendously rude! Bank must be operated by democrats... explains the rudeness!

Fraud

I put a pretty big note in your system about what happened, but I can elaborate. My father who is 95 went to commerce bank with my brother to open up my fathers bank account. My father was told to sit in the lobby while my brother opened up the bank account which I dont understand anyway you think the person thats on the bank account we need to be with the banking professional if thats what you wanna call them to hear everything and make sure that its something that he wants. After they print up all the paperwork and open the bank account they allowed my brother to walk the paperwork over to my dad and sign it. No one witnessed him sign it other than my brother, my brother stated to him this is for your new bank account go ahead and sign it my dad not realizing that my brother was going to steal everything from him and not knowing he was on the bank account just signed them. My brother then proceeded to take every dollar out of his bank account put it in another bank account within the same bank and left my father in a house by himself with no car no food and no money, when the bank was notified about this the branch manager Angela was extremely rude extremely uncaring and basically just wanted to cover her own *** First she said it was because my brother had a power of attorney which was done illegally and we prove that and that it was OK that he closed the bank account without both parties being there that were on the account without a death certificate or a proof of incapacitation from a doctor , I explain to her that I had spoken to the FDIC and the federal reserve which governs that bank and they said that both parties shouldve been there if the bank account was closed. She said they dont have to be in our location, my father told her you guys allowed him to steal every dollar I have and left me with nothing she said nothing she just gave them basically a dirty look pretty much resting *** face. We went back and spoke to her again and she said well he had a power of attorney I said again if he has a power of attorney that he hast to prove that theres something wrong with my father or that hes passed away to close that bank account without my father being there . Not in our establishment. I explain to her what my brother has done over the years and how he left him with nothing also turn the power off to the house to let him die inside the house turned off all the utilities she didnt care. She refused to give me any information she refused to do anything at all. They were pre-warned that this is gone on and they shouldve froze my brothers bank account that he transferred that money into until investigation was completed they did not do that they refused to do that as well the police have a report against my brother the elder abuse department has called the bank and told them exactly what was going on and they had been to the house and found this to be true still nothing was done. This is absolutely unbelievable. I spoke to 49 other banks and none of them joint bank account power of attorney or anything else wouldve allowed one person to close a door bank account without both people being there or proof of death or incapacitation. Only commerce bank does it. My father revoked my brothers power of attorney and put me back on it as I was prior and we brought it into her after we filed it with the state, I asked her I said have you ever seen a power of attorney that actually looks like this and she looks at it with this really *** face and says I dont know what you mean and I said do you see the sticker at the top and she goes yes I said that is a filed record with the state that my father had notarized and thats how you should do it youve never seen that? She said nope never seen one, I said you told me before youve been banking for 24 years and youve dealt with hundreds of thousands of POAs but youve never seen one filed with the state or civil records? No I sure havent!! I said I absolutely do not believe you theres no way youve dealt with us in the past and have never seen one filed with silver records and with the state. She basically told me she turned it into her security department and they were going to go from there thats been three weeks ago, I went back into the bank and ask them what the situation was with it and she goes I havent heard anything and I said why he checked up on it maybe given the fact that the money was stolen and this is whats happened no but I guess I can do that now so shes emailing the security person that she supposedly sent this into and they emailed her back and said weve contacted elder abuse and we contacted the person that took the money out of the bank account! I said wait you actually contacted the person that is under investigation to let them know that theyre under investigation? Why in the world would you ever do that that gives them every opportunity to take the money and run and you guys are gonna let them , she said I cant answer for what Security does I said this is the most inept bank Ive ever seen in my life I dont understand why anyone operates with you and now I fully understand why you have a 1.2 rating among all the banks in Kansas City and the surrounding areas. The original money was from an insurance check that my father received for his house burning down, they put that money in community America bank my brother pull the same *** at that bank except my father couldnt hear very well and the person there didnt explain it very well and they admitted that they said that they never told my father that my brother was on the bank account, my brother tried three times after opening that account CommunityAmerica to go in there and close it out and take the money they refuse to do it without my father being there a death certificate or proof of incapacitation from a doctor like a normal bank would or any other intelligent business, the first time he told him that he was dead they said well lets see death certificate, he said they havent sent it to me yet, they told him well when you receive it bring it in and will close the account. He went into weeks later and said that his father couldnt walk and he need to close the bank account CommunityAmerica smart unlike commerce bank and said well two weeks ago you said he was dead and now youre saying you cant walk which is it so they immediately threw up a red flag they threw up a red flag actually the first time. So he went to another branch tried it again and said my father cant walk or talk so I need to close the bank account well all the notes were in the system and that professional banker unlike Angela at commerce Bank said well youve actually said a to the other branch that he was dead and he couldnt walk two separate times and now youre saying that he cant walk or talk. So my brother waited about three weeks to a month and he told my dad that he would get better interest money if he went to commerce Bank knowing because he has a friend that works there or someone he knows works there which I have a feeling is probably Angela the branch manager that he would be able to close the account without my father being there at any time so he convince my father that he will get better interest on his money if he went to commerce, two months after that he walks in the bank drains the account and coincidentally enough my sister who also was the power of attorney along with me prior to my brother faking the one that he had ended up deathly ill right as my brother is doing all of this and then as soon as she goes into the hospital he takes off leave my father with nothing no money no car no food nothing and Angela and Commerzbank know all of this. He actually had the power turned off at the house while my father was sitting in the home, I had to have everything turned on in my name just so he could have utilities I flew in from another state to take care of my father and see my sister because shes passing away due to some strange incident that happened prior to my brother doing this and the police know all about it. I have a family in another state and Im taking my father with me but I refuse to leave my father really refuses to leave without this bank giving him his money back and they havent even contacted him back one time or myself to even offer a condolence or a solution or anything they could care less all they seen was a bunch of money going into their bank and they did it because thats how they wanted to do it that money was going in their bank. By the way I spoke with their meaning Commerzbank customer advocacy department she was actually as rude as Angela and said the bank did nothing wrong theres nothing they can do to help us and basically hung up on me thats their customer advocacy department I think customer advocacy if you look it up in the dictionary means they advocate for the customer not for the bank all she continued to say before she hung up on me is commerce bank did nothing wrong we did nothing wrong so their customer advocacy is biased towards the bank their job is to protect the bank not the customer and she made that very clear on a recorded conversation that I had with her. Ive been here since April 6 when in that bank on the seventh nothing has been done. The police have notified Commerzbank of the situation they still have done nothing after I had the power turned back on at my fathers house or duplex he tried to turn it off two more times after that because every time the power got turned back on even though it was in my name he got an email stating that the power was turned back on at the property and the water and he continually tried to have it turned off, then he canceled my fathers insurance. He also told them that he was beat up by his roommate and he had to move that was one of his excuses and he didnt want his new address given to anyone , his second excuse was new renters were moving in and he didnt want the power on under anyones name but the new renter well he doesnt own this property and he has no right to say that because he has no clue if anybody well for that matter he shouldve been able to say that because he doesnt on the property he knew my father was still staying in this home he knew my sister was in the hospital dying and there was no one left to take care of him. He purposely tried to kill my father off and I believe the police believe he did something to my sister to put her in the position shes in so he can steal all of this money especially after the policeman was standing in my home or in my fathers on my should say while I was on the phone with the utility companies when the power was turned off again and they told him all the excuses my brother continually gave to them as to why he was turning the power off with the getting beat up by a roommate which wouldve been a 95 year old man and then also a new runner moving in and the policeman couldnt believe it he also couldnt believe that commerce bank allowed this to happen. He actually closed his account at commerce Bank immediately after he found this out and hes telling everyone What happened to my fathers account at commerce Bank. Upon both of our permissions I allowed him to do that I said please do let everyone know how they operate how they dont care what theyve done how they raise no red flags if somebody does something as my brother dead by the way who is never not inebriated hes never not drunk hes never not drugged out and they actually allowed him to open a bank account drunk even CommunityAmerica said he was drunk when they open the account the first time prior to going to commerce so theres no possibility that this bank shouldve even allowed him to open the bank account and his condition and then close the account the way he did without raising one red flag and she told me Angela dead no this doesnt look like a red flag at all this is normal every day practice , I said so its normal for someone to come in to your bank open an account without the other person being there but putting them on the account or not being involved in the transaction and then closing it two months later without the other person being there thats normal to you that happens at your bank all the time? Yeah sure does and I said never does that raise a flag to you I said if you look theres numerous complaints about your bank doing the exact same thing to people thats how my brother knew and less you knew about it and just told him which earlier in my statement thats really what I believe that she knew him and thats why she was so defensive of him and wouldnt get my father any information on his own money. We contacted an attorney and the FDIC and the federal reserve and theyve all said the bank was in fault for allowing this to happen and since theyre not doing anything about it the Federal Reserve is going to get involved but God knows how long thats gonna take and going through the court system you might as well just wait for my father to die before he sees dollar of it. Or my brother goes to prison for adult abuse which is a 10 year sentence by the way. This bank needs to be held accountable for what theyve done and show some respect but they have no respect for anyone all they care about is themselves. If anyone wants to know the branch its the one on seven highway blue Springs Missouri and I would suggest if you do have a bank account at any commerce bank I would close it immediately and go somewhere else. I have spoken to friends of mine that work for the Kansas City Royals and other media outlets that I know and they are popping investigation on all of this and I hope and pray that commerce loses their sponsorship with the Royals which I believe they will . If anyone that reads this in the Kansas City area and you find Carl Pluchino anywhere please call the police and have him arrested. Im going to upload a picture of his license plate and the back of his car while he was running from my nephew for no reason whatsoever and ran into a police station and filed a fake police report that my own son abused him or beating up or assaulted him in someway and my son hadnt even been here but then he tells the water department and the electric company that he was beat up by his roommate he told my next-door neighbor or my fathers next-door neighbor that he was an FBI agent he hasnt had a job since 2002 hes filed fake injuries with three companies and theyve all caught him . Hes a *** and he needs to be put in prison. Id appreciate any help from anyone that can find him and bring this to an end because the stress level is getting to my father its getting to me its getting to my family and he doesnt deserve this none of us do .

So Far I have been told basically oh well, too bad so sad your father lost $108,000 at 95 years old and was left in the house by himself and we don’t really care

I have a 95-year-old father that received an insurance check and my brother somehow scam his way on to the to the bank account without my father being there just to sign off on it and then went back stole all of the money put it in his own bank account (at the same bank) and close the bank account my father was on, without my father being there by the way and the branch manager is doing absolutely nothing about it Ive contacted the FDIC and 40 other banks none of them would allowed that to happen but Commerce!! theyve been alerted about this for two weeks and yet theyre not doing anything to freeze the money that my brother put in a different account under his name he left my father in a house alone thats 95 and have the utilities shut off Ani but your bank is doing nothing about it I would love someone to call me back today 702-858-**** thank you

Trouble with account

Very rude employees at the poplarbluff branch

Tellers are very rude and lazy. They took money off my card that I didn't get. Asked about it in person was treated horrible didn't get money back. Called corporate to file complaint. They would not let me file a complaint would not let me talk to a manager

Random Charges

Commerce bank is a scam and they take advantage of students. They charge you for withdrawing money from THEIR ATMS. Had to call and change to paperless to avoid a $3 charge and then got charged .50 and 1.50 for withdrawing money from my account. If you are on their free checking and not student, paper statements are free. They are a joke.

Overall Experience

Don't recommend much at all about this bank. Mobile deposits go missing on the app. Customer Service number is not very helpful, as every question has to be transferred around to another rep to be addressed by a so called specialist. This bank is also horrible about putting crap fees on checking and savings accounts and they generally view their customers as objects to simply mine fees from. Have had an account with them for decades and am now going through the painful process of unwinding the relationship and will not do business with them anymore.

Coronovirus forbearance agreement garbage

So I spoke to the mortgage dept. yesterday. I was inquiring on what they offer for forbearance on mortgage payments during this crisis & here is what she told me: they will look at doing it for up to 6 months, 2 months at a time & then they re-review. they wont charge late fees or report to the credit bureau, HOWEVER at the end of that time you have to find a way to bring the loan current & pay everything you missed. I said you don't just add it to the end of the loan? she said no, that by the time it comes due you should be back to work & able to come up with all of it to be current. That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard & how exactly does that help anyone struggling with the loss of income??? How if you are struggling right now due to the crisis will you have a chunk of money to just plunk down on it?? I will be refinancing my home & closing all of my accounts!!
