Looking to get new roof? BEWARE!

we live in Duluth, MN and hired a company called Classic Roofing and the end result was nice BUT.... they are over priced considering they take short cuts if not watched. they were charging for materials to re-deck after tearing off old stuff and insulating BUT they were going to reuse the 40 plus year old decking boards that they tore off. they did not buy a permit until AFTER the job was done(we refused to pay final pymt until a permit was provided) so there was no inspecting during the job process. the crew is very careless and disrespectful of property; they broke a new downspout, broke expensive plants, used our stuff without asking (wagon that is for plants, not heavy roofing materials as example)they do not pick up after themselves daily unless nagged at which is a hazard for pets etc... a job that should have taken a couple of days stretched for two weeks. the office does not answer phones or return messages, our date was originally for may and ended up july. there is a law that requires when contractors purchase permits to do siding, roofing or large jobs as such they are to provide carbon monoxide detectors...we did not know this until WE CALLED FOR an inspector to come out and was told about this. the company refuses to provide without charging for the detectors and labor even though this is a law! the inspector even told them this and it hasn't mattered to them. so if you do not want to be over charged for a huge headache, find someone else!
