Dining Experience at Claddagh's Irish Pub in Pittsburgh

I arrived at the restaurant with three of my friends and after a fifteen-minute wait we were promptly seated at our table. We had heard many positive things about Claddagh’s Irish Pub and were looking forward to a relaxing and enjoyable meal. Unfortunately, we experienced several issues, which were extremely difficult for me to understand. While our concerns had nothing to do with the quality of the food (which was outstanding), the service across several different areas was definitely sub-standard and not reflective of what one would expect in your restaurant. After our initial round of cocktails, our waitress did ask if we wanted another drink, but failed notice and offer to bring more water to those whose water glasses were empty. We were the ones that had to ask for more water. I would expect this to be something my waitress would notice. In addition, several of us ordered soup and did not receive spoons when it was delivered, and by the time the spoons were delivered to the table, the soup was cold. Once our entrees arrived (two of us ordered salads, and two of us ordered sandwiches), we still hadn’t received place settings and napkins at the table. So we had to ask our waitress for silverware and she only brought two sets because she must have thought those with sandwiches did not need to have a place setting. However, as we often like to sample each other’s meals, I would have expected the entire table would have received place settings. Lastly, my friend asked for the coleslaw and ranch dressing that came with her sandwich and the waitress responded, “I’m sorry, but I haven’t had a chance to get it, I’ll be right back.” By the time the coleslaw and ranch dressing came, we were finished with our meals. It took a good twenty minutes to receive our checks and we were late for our friend’s birthday party because of our poor service at dinner.
