Scammers who steal your money - very shady organization

Updated by user Aug 23, 2023
Waiting to get the full refund and will update once received as they are helping to resolve the issue due to the miscommunication from their sales rep.

Original review Aug 23, 2023
Beware this company is very shady and steals money monthly by lying to people who give one time donations then charge them monthly subscription for something they never signed up for. EDIT: Issue was resolved. I had trouble reaching out to someone during the day after calling but eventually someone got in touch and apologized and helped to resolve this issue. I take back what I said as they are clearly interested in helping to make sure the donations are done properly and it appears the sales rep from the desk I had gone to had made a mistake in not telling me this detail which is why the issue occurred. I will be waiting for the full refund and will update when received. Thanks!!!

Unauthorized charges to my account

I was approached by a representative of ChildHelp and I was convinced into a one time donation of $30. A month later while reviewing my credit card statement I noticed that I had been charged $30 again by this charity. I was never told by the representative or via email that I signed up for a monthly donation. This charity is dishonest and criminal. Avoid at all costs.

Dishonest and Aggressive

My family and I were approached by a representative of ChildHelp and I was convinced into a one time donation of $30. Months later while reviewing my credit card statement I noticed that I have been charged $30 monthly by this charity. I was never told by the representative or via email that I signed up for a monthly donation. This charity is dishonest and criminal. Avoid at all costs.

Deceptive Solicitation!

I was asked for a $52 donation, which I agreed to, I did not, however, agree to the monthly recurring donation they enrolled me in! They charged $22 for the backpack I thought I was donating for $52, then charged a 2nd charge of $30 which was the first of a monthly recurring donation! Their representatve did NOT make me aware they would do this. They are very sneaky.

Another victim of fraud

Same story here. I made a one-time donation of $20 to provide a backpack. Little did I know they would use the card a paid with to enroll me in an unauthorized $10 a month donation! A small enough amount to not notice a discrepancy in my bill at the end of the month. Of course this is how these scammers get paid And I was ironically a victim of abuse trying to donate to victims of abuse. I feel sorry for people representing this organization. I too was reviewing my statements to find places to cut expenses, and I too was shocked to see a random Childhelp monthly charge of $10. So very sad. Now looking at legal options even though they tried to cover their bases by sending a generic hidden monthly donation message. Really sad.

Scam company alert!!!!! shame on you USING abused chidren like a carrot for fruadulent purposes

I am disputing a charge made under fraudulent pretenses. I was approached to donate money, I am a single mother of 3 daughters driving JUNK car to work and felt pressured and manipulated to donate while on my lunch break trying to look at flowers at a flower shop! I agreed to $20. I was VERY surprised to find $21.65 was taken from my account, not $20. Tax was NOT mentioned. Nor was the rating your company has for taking money without authorization for months on end from unsuspecting donators. I need my $21.65 returned back to my checking account, and am revoking authorization for a single penny to be taken from me ever again.

Unauthorized Charges

I agreed to a one-time donation and have been charged monthly for the past 6 months...Seeing other people experiencing similar issues makes me question the legitimacy of this organization. Please refund my money and cancel any future charges.

Unauthorized Monthly Charges

Made a single donation and they have been charging my card monthly for the same amount. Absolutely ridiculous for them to automatically charge recurring amounts with no confirmation of that during the donation process. Screams scam.

Suckered scam

Approached outside a restaurant for donation to help foster children with backpacks full of items. I agreed to donate $20. They billed me $21 and change because they added sales tax. What legitimate charity adds sales tax? Alerted credit card company who placed a block on further charges. Added freeze and alert via credit bureaus. The email received as a receipt contained errors with no way to unsubscribe. I had a bad feeling when their backpacks were low quality and resembled plastic bags plus they asked ME to enter my credit card into an iPadno swipes mechanism. They were collecting my data and identity.

Scam Artist Targeting College Students at ASU

Updated by user Oct 12, 2022
Based on previous reviews, this has been going on for a long time, and in other states too. Please report this to:https://www.azag.gov/sites/default/files/docs/complaints/2019/cic_complaint_form_2019.pdf

BEWARE - These Scammers are set up at ASU every monday by Tooker dorm targeting college students. Same thing, one time charge that turns into un authorized monthly payment. Is this actually legal?

Agreed to one charge, still being charged

I agreed to a ONE TIME charge after being basically pursued by this woman through a parking lot. They have been charging me continuously since then which is not what was discussed or agreed to. Thanks to this company I will never donate in person to companies like this ever again.

To thank Lindsey

I had a similar experience to where I did not know what exactly I would be charged for the backpack and it was more than I expected, it could have been my misunderstanding. I dont know- the guy I donated to kept asking if I wanted to donate more things and so I was confused probably. Anyway, then I read these reviews and they freaked me out with the recurring charges. So I emailed the Lindsey (first I called the number that was on my bank account transaction and then got her email) and she got back to me within a day and refunded the amount. I dont know much about the organization, but I am grateful for the good service I got when I emailed Lindsey. So anyway- if someone finds themselves in this situation again- reach out and Im sure they will fix it!

You stole my money

I have no idea how they did this, but they stole 10 dollars out of my account with a random unauthorized charge. I have no idea how they got this money. Pay me back. They are sketchy as *** and this isnt the first time this has happened. They should be ashamed, because I couldnt imagine behaving in that way unless youre hiding something.

Fraudulent Charges

In December after leaving mod-pizza in Arvada I was passing the Child Help Scam Booth when I was asked to donate to their cause, helping abused children. I committed to a one time donation, and was clear that I did not want any reoccurring fees. Now over the last three months I have been charged 10 dollars a month, which would not be an issue if I committed to this program or if I believed the donations were going towards their rightful cause, but if you ask me this organization is a bunch of crooks and should be held accountable. Hopefully there is reputable organizations out there that are working towards this cause Unfortunately, I assure you this is not one of them.

Child help not acting responsibly

My local 24 Hour Fitness gym allowed Childhelp to set up a donation table in Littleton, CO, with their bucket and backpacks this past week. I donated $20 cssh, was told theyd send me an email receipt and never sent it. I requested a receiot again several days later, they said they had sent it and again never received it. It sure seems like a scam on the cash donations. They have no way to monitor these people who make vague claims about giving away backpacks full of school supplies to needy kids.
