Refuse to refund my down payment

After taking my $2,000 deposit, I was told by INSPIRE that I worked too far from the house I was contracted to buy. Let's keep in mind that ALL of my information including my EMPLOYMENT was on the application. Good morning, After reading the documents, I have found a few items that are questionable. I did NOT request any changes to the loan agreement. I told you that I could afford the original closing costs that included the down payment that totaled $14,000 and that's what I signed and agreed to. Based on our conversation, I feel that underwriting is being unreasonable in pressuring me to transfer my job closer to Labelle by May 9th. There is a lengthy process to transfer. Once the transfer period is over, THEN the jobs are posted on the district's job vacancy list . THEN, we select the job. THEN, HR approves. This can take up to 2 months post transfer REQUEST period. Usually, over summer( which I am off from working) the transfer is completed in time for the next school year (SY 2024). The district's headquarters is in West Palm Beach - Palm County, but we have almost 200 schools in our County. A portion of these schools are 40 to 50 miles away which are closer to Labelle. I have submitted and complied with everything that was requested of me. I feel like this NEW contract isn't in my best interest. I also feel all of these obstacles are being created so I can't get my deposit back. Respectfully, S.Johnson

Highly Disappointed

The communication for this builder is TERRIBLE! I signed in December and the home was suppose to be completed in May. In January I got calls from their lender say in g the house will be ready in March. How is that even possible when the house barely had the structure. The guy who was supposed to keep me informed on the house prices stopped emailing back in March. The lender which they are affiliated never let me lock in an interest rate even when the closing disclosure was sent. I asked simple questions whats my options since he kept saying theres so many options for you and it turned out to be only 2! I asked why the property taxes on the house were half of what he originally sent. I asked what the HOA was and the managers nor the lending team could tell me. I lost out on money and time. Dont do it!!!

To let people know

I gotta tell you. Whoever is building the homes in the Dogwood Creek Division in Kinston, NC really should be ashamed. What was once a nice quiet neighborhood(Century came over and started building these homes where there is already eleven houses here), and has made a mess. The builders do not clean up after themselves. They leave their wood, roof, supplies, etc out in the elements. The have signs everywhere saying they wear hard hats. They follow NO safety precautions.Trash is overflowing into the streets, crap is left in the middle of the roads. They are building on sink holes and bad land. DON'T buy from them.

Changed price and won’t give deposit back

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. We sent our deposit and our home was supposed to be done in June the date kept getting pushed back and pushed back and the price kept going up. We got to the point where we didnt even qualify for the loan anymore because they kept raising the price. We had to back out and they wont give us our deposit back. The building agent has been awful to work with and I cant get anyone on the phone. We just want our deposit back theres no reason why you shouldve been able to raise prices after a contract was signed.

Horrible customer service

Good morning, This communication includes multiple parties in hopes of receiving a coordinated response from the parties representing Century Homes. The closing date has been changed 4 times and a tentative closing date is scheduled for tomorrow 06/23/22. Please confirm if the closing will occur and the time of closing. The closing documents have repeatedly been inaccurate and in need of revision. I spoke to Latham Jackson on 06/21 to address the incorrect appraisal amount. I was assured that I would hear back from Mr. Jackson on 06/21, however, I have yet to receive a call or email follow-up. The buyer, Mrs. Agurs expressed concerns about the closing being delayed AGAIN, due to required repairs that have still not been completed. The City of Pontiac has to reinspect these repairs to issue the certificate of occupancy. Has the inspection occurred? We have not received any updates regarding the repairs, the confirmed closing, or the corrected closing documents. The level of inconsistency in communication and the unprofessionalism displayed by various departments at Century Homes is beyond concerning. The buyer has been incredibly patient throughout this process. Mrs. Agurs wants to move into her new home and her family needs to prepare to move. She has taken time off work multiple times, only to be told on the day of closing that it has been canceled. As a private contractor, Mrs. Agurs loses income each time she cancels appointments to attend the closing. Century Homes should be held responsible for her loss of income if these delays continue beyond 06/23/2022. I am requesting a response to my questions regarding this closing no later than noon today. (06/22/22) I am requesting that all parties involved with this transaction from Century Homes, communicate to get on the same page prior to responding so that our client, Mrs. Agurs is not continually inconvenienced or disappointed by overpromising and underdelivering. I am available to speak regarding this transaction.

Disgraceful and horrific experience

I would never work with or recommend this company ever again. Their service is so deceitful and absolutely horrific. I went under contract for a home in Georgetown, SC on February 7, 2022. On March 1st, I received notification that they had begun pouring the foundation. On April 27th, I noticed the plumbing did not match the floor plan I was under contract for. Once I emailed my sales rep and sent her photos inquiring why, she proceeded to call me 5 days later to tell me the original floor plan was not approved by the "municipalities" and thus, they begun to build their 2-story floor plan without ever notifying me. She then told me my only options were to sign a "mutual" cancelation form or sign a new purchase agreement with the increased purchase price. When I told her neither of those options were acceptable, she proceeded to send the cancelation paperwork anyways, and refused to speak with me or my broker regarding the situation. So heartbreaking and disgraceful given I was under contract for 3 months and I had to bring the massive discrepancy to her attention.

Abhorrent customer service

Weve been trying to purchase a century complete home in central Indiana that was listed for sale. It took our realtor weeks to get ahold of someone at the company to even be able to show the home. We have a pre approval from our independent lender, but apparently if you dont choose to use the builders preferred lender they make life *** for you and try to get you to either walk away or switch to Inspire. The sales agent, Gerri, is the most bullying, difficult to work with, downright self-serving, ego-centric sales person Ive ever encountered - and come to find out, apparently shes getting a promotion by the company!?!? All my husband and I wanted was to purchase a basically completed new home that was innocently listed on sites for salethe manager of our loan company says in 20 years this is one of the most messed up deals hes ever been involved in - absolutely buyer beware!!

Poor Grading/Drainage Issue

Century Complete never properly graded our Back Yard, and completely blocked the Drainage Blocks with dirt and rock. They will not correct it. BBB has not resolved it!

Complaint

Asked Century Communities Provo which unsold home would be completed soonest and selected the one they claimed would finish first. Did not select model, options, or colors. Only what would be completed soonest. Then watched other homes (many not even started when we paid deposit on our framed house) finish before ours. Our home ended up closing the end of March 90 days after Century Communities printed flyer date of late December. When we inquired about the 3 month delay Century hid behind their contract of having 2 years to finish.

FeelingTricked

call me crazy but I expected to see the kind of craftsmanship I fell in love with in the model home. Not upgraded per se but the basic of basics.... neatness at the very least: baseboards, door jambs, clean paint lines without drips and or bumpy drywall...that professionalism is what sold me into sinking me life savings into our dream home...but that is definitely what what we got when we were given keys and "welcomed into our new 460k home". 4 months later and it still doesn't feel like home.

Poor home builder quality

Do not build or purchase a home from Century Communities, trust me its not worth it. Worst experience you can encounter with a builder. During our building process, we requested an upgraded shower and was told it would be built with two shower heads, however during the process we discovered it was one. Contacting anyone at Century to help solve a problem is an nightmare. Since living in the neighborhood our neighbors have shared the same experience. Four months into our new home the waterheater went out. The original plumber came out to repair it and mentioned they found out later they put in a bad batch of waterheaters in the neighborhood. In addition, our sod looks awful. The construction lead who will openly admit he cannot fix issues and his hands are tied due to the company, Century Communities. So far, we haven't received a response from Century. Our yard is an eye sore and our next step is to retain an attorney. Our neighbors have roof leaks. When it rains the water does not properly drain off of the top of the home and they just moved in three months ago. The quality of work is awful and good luck on getting a response from anyone in charge at Century. The design center is unorganized and you will receive different information from everyone, they are not on the same page. Avoid this builder and company, they build subpar homes and won't respond in a timely manner. I literally have to now submit a review.

Poor home buying experience

BEWARE before buying a home with Century Communities. This corporation is extremely unprofessional and does not care what corners they cut at the expense of the new homeowner. Be prepared for pressure to close at their convenience with unresolved issues and threats to lose your earnest money if you speak up. They refused to issue closing dates at normal timeframes due to a delay in utilities being installed, but then jam the date in last second with almost no notice to meet their quarterly numbers. They also will leave work unfinished as long as the home is livable and claim they will complete it after close or with warranty. They would not move the close date any sooner or even 1 day later (since it was the last day of the month &;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; quarter which wouldnt benefit them). There is absolutely nothing the homeowner can do to get the incomplete work done before closing date (landscape, cracked concrete, interior repairs) because if you threaten not to close until it is done, you will be in default of contract and lose your earnest money which is now $15k. The sales people are the only one who will even respond to you, but they too are at the mercy of corporate employees that are greedy & unresponsive.
