Worst experience ever

I start on Aug 25, 23 purchasing a car from Carvana. I had to jump through hoops.Everyday, I had to submit more paperwork and Call them daily because the car I was trying to purchase was supposed to be on a courtesy hold and it would disappear. I was given 72 hours yet after 20 minutes, the car would disappear, i would have to go find it and hope nobody got it. I also had the time lapsed, as I would be entering info requested and the car would be gone. Several hours later I would end up receiving a text saying a car you looked at has come back up, act quick so you can lock in your car. Then I had to have my employer correct my name because it didnt match my license, The license, bank paystub and paperwork all had to have the exact name. Every time they touched my account to update info I had submitted I would have to re-sign the contracts. On the 5th time I was asked to sign the contract once more. As I reviewed the contract I noticed my rates and terms had changed drastically. At that time, everything was approved all I needed was link my bank to verify the funds. did was link my bank account to verify funds. Everything else was already approved upon finishing linking my account, I was told re-sign the contracts, as I looked over the contract. My terms jumped up again. According to Carvana, the engineering. supervisors management and the employee could understand or figure out what happen The lame excuse I kept getting was those are the terms thats how much it you note and down payment are, either you or you dont, they didnt care if they lost a customer or not. By far the worst experience ever in my life, Id rather have sat at the car dealership for 24 hours instead of dealing with Carvana I never will be bother with them again I highly advice to stay away from them.

They will not negotiate.

Depends on what they do

Original review Jul 29, 2023
I purchased a car from carvana and on the second day I notified them it had problems they told me what I needed to do so I did like a dog jumping through hoops. They said they would take care of everything, first red flag. I called and visited as many of the repair shops on their list and found out none of them where qualified to look at it. Now I have to contact a dealership, the wait now will be up to 4 week's just to see what's wrong. Now im past 7 days and told carvana I'm done...the dealership said " from what your describing its possible it needs a new motor and transmission " carvana will only allow 400 dollars for a rental, a 4 week rental will be up to 2 thousand dollars out of my pocket. I continued contacting carvana, bridgcrest and silver rock about the problem and wanted to return the car and they said no or they would repossess it and kill my credit for 7 to 10yrs. I had 4 options and gave them 3 , and they declined all 3. Now there looking at a 12 thousand dollar fee for possible repairs to a car they sold to someone without looking at the car with certified mechanic's. My forth option deals with higher stakes and a bigger loss for all 3 companies mentioned. They do not care about customers they do not care what they sell. No wonder they lost 4.5 billion dollars last year. They are a rip off company period. They will not receive a dime from me !!!

Questioning ethics

I went online to renew my offer, and when I did the price dropped $5000 Why? All I was doing is renewing the offer so that I could purchase a new car.

Deposit refund

Carvana electronically withdrew car deposit before purchase was finalized. The deal didnt go through. We had to request to have the deposit refunded. That is theft. Were they going to keep it. Refused to let me speak to a supervisor.

Was sold car with major problems

I bought a certified Carvana vehicle 2010 Infiniti G37S for 19,500 because it was supposed to be a one owner clean car. Well the first week the car ended in the dealership fixing leaking rear bushing and leaking valve cover gaskets so no way in *** they did 150 point inspection. Then I was getting reset cruise, no key, and then a no start condition. Well when I pulled the national service history I found part of the problem. Right before carvana purchased the vehicle it was towed into a dealer to have a BCM set for the car and the owner reported same issues I was having. The BCM in the car most likely came from a junk yard and isn't the right one. Well after replacing switches, fixing wires shorting in the dash car still doesn't recognize key and I have factory lights not plugged in because it is the wrong BCM.

Insane depreciation

I purchased a 2017 eGolf. We used it for a 5 weeks but it became apparent that the 80 mile range was just not going to work for us. We had hoped to use it as a run around car for schools runs etc but alas it's too problematic for us. So how much would you expect to lose trading it back to Carvana from your original purchase price 5 weeks earlier? $2k? $3k? No $8,500!!! We put less than 500 miles on it and it's in the same condition. *** bags.

Delay in vehicle arrival

Okay first of all, this is completely unacceptable. I have been without a car for over a month, with half of that time waiting for the order of my car. Now I get an email saying it won't arrive for another 2 weeks??? That transportation fee and or the cost of my vehicle better be reduced for the inconvenience. I don't have the kind of money to be paying for a rental any longer! Will you pay for my rental until it arrives?! First I got an email saying that everything passed inspection, and now I am getting an email saying that it is not meeting quality standards?? How did it pass inspection if that's the case???

I have made a grave mistake....

I "ordered" my car in February, 2023. The delivery date was supposed to be February 28th. It was rescheduled to March 3rd, then March 6th. then March 8th @ 12 noon, then March 8th @ 10:00 am (without consulting me). I got a ride to the designated location to pick up my car to be told that they were "running a little behind". Two hours later I was informed that the title was never signed off by the previous owner. They were kind enough to spring for an Uber home, however I was promised a call at some point today. I never heard so I reached out several times and no one answered. I called the main customer service number, and they showed no record of the events. At this point I am afraid I have made a grave mistake in purchasing a car through Carvana.

Sold a flooded vehicle

Bought a 2015 Grand Cherokee from Carvava. Almost a year later, we noticed electrical problems such as the alarm going off at random and the key fob not being recognized. Upon Inspection, we notice the spare tire was completely white from salt water and sand in the tire compartment. After futher Inspektion, we found rust on seat brackets, under the dash and on seatbelt brackets. We had it professionally inspected at one of Carvana's trusted warranty repair Shops and they agreed and documented the flood damage. We contacted Carvana and sent pictures and the inspection report only to be told a week later that since our purchase was almost a year ago, Carvana wouldn't do anything. Now we are stuck with a flood damaged vehicle that was overpriced to begin with and problems are getting worse. STAY AWAY!!!

Refund/Return

I recently purchased a vehicle from a Carvana Hub in Norfolk MA, which is almost two hours away from where I live. The initial pick up was delayed by one week which was a slight inconvenience. Upon arrival, there was a sign stating to knock on door to enter, I entered alone and was asked to sit in a back room of a warehouse type of location. I waited at least 30 minutes, when I was previously told the entire process would only take 30 minutes for the paperwork. I eventually was seen and address and asked to fill out paperwork. The entire process took almost two hours. I was told I could not test drive the vehicle at all due to them not having dealer plates. So, I did not test drive the vehicle at all. Upon driving home, I had felt uneasy about the drive and felt as though the car was not driving as it should for a newer vehicle that has passed an inspection. The vehicle was jerking forward and not accelerating. I had contacted the Warranty company to ask what was covered in regards to the jerking and stalling acceleration issue. They initially mentioned it would be covered and there was a $100-$300 deductible for the repair shop. The next day, Sunday (The day after purchasing) the check engine light, the tire pressure light appeared. I initially upon picking up the vehicle noticed small spots on the windshield which appeared to be dirt but after getting a car wash turned out to be small scratches and small dents in the glass of the windshield. I contacted customer service and sat on hold for 30 minutes while the automated voice told me that wait time was under 5 minutes multiple times. I scheduled the return, gave them my WORK address as they refused to pick up from my HOME address. I confirmed the pick up and confirmed that the down payment would not be processed as it had not already been at that time. I have in writing that they would not take the down payment out as it was not processed, I called my bank to confirm and they told me to freeze my bank card. The next day I called to confirm the pick up - they had the COMPLETE wrong location and address even though I gave them the correct one over the phone and it was confirmed. Well, once trying to change the address they told me it would be an additional two weeks for pick up. So either I could keep the location and get the car there somehow OR change the address and wait an additional two weeks for the return process to happen. Not only did they have the wrong address of pick up but they denied responsibility of the wrong address and could not change it without postponing the pick up date. BUT they also took the money out of my bank account even though it was frozen AND I had written confirmation that it would not be taken out. The refund process takes up to 3-5 days AFTER the pick up and return of the car, which is still waiting to take place at the correct address. They have no customer service phone number or email. AWFUL experience and sketchy pick up overall.

Two replacements in two weeks.

All things considered, and after reading some of the reviews here, we got off easy. We decided to sell our trusty Honda to Carvana because they offered us the best price. Initially, we didnt plan on buying another vehicle, but I wanted a truck. And they seemed to have a few good choices at a great price. So, and against every piece of advice about car buying I ever got from my day, we decided to buy a truck from them sight unseen. Never, ever, buy a car that you cant drive until after the paperwork is signed, kids. No matter how good the deal sounds like. We took delivery of a Ram 1500 with all the options we wanted about two weeks later. We live in rural Florida, so delivery time is understandably affected by this. We test drove the truck and it was great! I was beginning to think Carvana wasnt such a bad deal. But after the nice lady took our Honda away, we decided to drive to a store and about a mile away from the house, I get a blinking Check Engine light on the dash and the engine starts convulsing. We turned around and limped on what felt like four cylinders. As soon as we got home, we were on the phone with Carvana to return the truck. Including the test drive, we drove it a total of 10 miles before catastrophic failure. The Carvana rep asked if we wanted to replace the truck with another one from their site. We should have called it quits then and declined, but I saw a low mileage Silverado 1500 4x4 with a similar options package. So we agreed to replace the Ram with that Chevy truck. We were told delivery would take another two weeks, so we essentially traded our reliable Honda with a lawn ornament (insert Ram jokes here). After two weeks, another nice lady driving a Carvana tow truck came by with the Chevy. Upon inspection before the drive, we could tell the truck wasnt a 4x4 at all, and neither did it had some of the options listed on the Carvana site. The driver got on the phone and Carvana offered us a whopping $100 back for an option that is usually $2000 extra or more. Carvana didnt offer us anything for any of the other missing options. We did have one option: decline delivery of the Chevy and wait two weeks until they can have someone pick up the Ram lawn ornament or keep the Chevy, see if we like it enough to keep it, and go from there. We took the latter option and waved good bye to the dying Ram. Upon closer inspection of the Chevy, we found a few issues that youll never find when buying a used car from anyone else. For starters, engine oil life was at 10%, which means Carvana didnt even change the oil in the truck prior to sale. Ive bought cars off of auction that had an oil change before sale! The fact that Carvana didnt bother to do any basic maintenance and left it all to the buyer is beyond ridiculous! Other issues showed up right after the initial test drive, as well as more missing options listed on the Carvana site that the truck didnt actually have. And one issue that could be a potential death sentence on the truck also came up: the transmission began having a problem finding second gear. A quick check of the transmission fluid had metal shavings on it. So less than 24 hours after delivery, we were once again calling Carvana to schedule someone to come get a lawn ornament out of our front yard. Carvana asked if we wanted to replace the vehicle again, but we politely declined. We took the check from the sale of our Honda, which was $2500 more than anyone else was offering us for it, and walked away from Carvana forever. Never ever buy a car off the internet, sight unseen. Its just not smart.

Problem after problem with no real resolution.

I can barely put into words how HORRIBLE their customer service is. After my delivery date being pushed back THREE TIMES with little to no explanation (please note, the explanation will change depending on who you talk to) my car was delivered COVERED IN DOG HAIR. I dont know what standards they have in regards to these vehicles but it is LOW. Now, I love my car and I was willing to forgive all the but as I was pulling out of my garage, the garage staffed stopped me and alerted me to the fact that my car was leaking oil. Come to find out, it was because the valve/gasket covering the oil filter at the bottom of my car WAS NEVER TIGHTENED. So since my delivery 2 weeks ago, a steady stream of oil has been leaking. Which in my opinion is DANGEROUS AND NEGLIGENT. NoThe best part is (and if you are still reading this God bless you and p RUN from this company) when I called customer service, they told me that 1. Everyone in leadership was too busy to speak to me and 2. THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. I was told that my issue was a warranty issue and I needed to take it up with another company because they were not at fault. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!
