Worst experience ever with home improvement co.

Just had flooring put in by carpeteria Victorville office. Before choosing this office we had two other companies give us estimates. We went three different times to the Victorville office to ask questions. How does the flooring go in? Do you use glue? Do we need a pad? (Floating floor) time frame? Who will move furniture? We also asked for American made products. We got China. This was a 10,000 dollar job. First the guys did not have all the products to finish even one room the first day. Was left in total disarray first night. Workers washed concrete off in bathroom sink and dumped excess in tree bed. Husband and son had to move all furniture first three days. Was told workers would move furniture. Our floor in living room had to have concrete filler ( extra cost) and worker grounded it down with nothing covered and fans on. Entire house covered in cement dust. Manager promised a maid to come in and clean never happened. Still cleaning the cement dust off everything from pictures furniture dished etc.... ourselves. Had to clean floors many times after job was finished to clean the construction dirt off new floors. The worst is the walking on the hall and bedroom floor it is like having paneling on concrete. Flooring feels loose and planking noise and very hard. Found out should have had a thin pad underneath. Owner and manager would not even come out to see. With one room left we were given 500 off total and padding on last room. Ended up 9500.00 to carpeteria but I had to order 600 dollars of rugs to cover botched job. I trusted the person that estimated our home and was lied to constantly. I'm thinking I will have to take legal action.

Bad business

Was giving the runaround by one of the owners. Was lied on about statements that i have never made. They have had finance for the project and paid more than half on the project. Was giving different days that they would show up and never showed on the dates giving. After no project for 2 months and making payments on the difference. Asked for refund, never apologized or a excuse to make up. I dont want to say race card, but since my little old job like they never had any plans on making due on the contract. Waiting on response from the

After two months, my floor still isn't finished!

They are NOT customer friendly when it comes to correcting mistakes! They were supposed to come out to reinstall a badly cut piece of flooring and make a new threshold and I have called them at least 5 times and the sales person at the Campbell CA location, Kris, keeps telling me she will call "them" but I never heard back from anyone there except for one time when they gave me 12 hours notice when they'd be able to come out and I could not be here at that time which apparently was at their convenience. That was 3 weeks ago. Kris is a nice person, BUT she's more afraid of losing her job than helping a repeat customer! I was shocked to hear her say this! I will never, ever use Carpeteria again.

Carpeteria in Victorville poor workmanship - very inexperienced installers

Had Carpeteria install tile for us in our home. Horrible job Gaps between tiles different widths. Cut tiles behind doors so you see cuts when close door. tiles installed un level so sharp edges stick up. I called and Owner - Joe Glover- He threatened to put a lean on my house if I didn't pay bill in full immediately. I asked for repair and received threats... Not a good place at all. After repeated complaints finally sent same guy back to fix uneven tiles but not gaps or cut tiles behind doors. guy reeked of alcohol and acted angry the whole time. Tiles he brought were from a new box of tile and color was off, but after all this we just gave up. There are plenty of other places out there to choose from Avoid the nightmare of Carpeteria Victorville.

CONSUMER AVOID CARPETERIA AT ALL COST

CONSUMER BEWARE OF CARPETERIA, AVOID AT ALL COST Company Name: and Address:Carpeteria 17620 Bear Valley rd, Victorville CA, 92395 -Phone: 760-955-**** Fax: 760-955-**** Category: - Carpet Sales/Installation/Repair -Services Performed: -Yes* More Weight is given to a review where work has been completed.Work Completed Date: - December 04, 2012 -Hire Again: - No -Approximate Cost:- $3,142.00Description Of Work: Carpeteria installed a vinyl composite tile in my home, which was defective. Not only was it defective, it was the wrong color. Mr. Glover over measured the area for tiles by 75 square feet (315 sq feet ordered and 240 sq ft installed) charging $970.00. Mr. Glover also over measured the flooring area for carpet by 21 square yards. He called for 138 sq yards of carpet. Carpeteria offered a 4-pound pad with an upgrade to a 6-pound pad; the accrual flooring space for carpet was 117 sq yards, which I provided a diagram of to Mr. Glover. This left no doubt that Mr. Glover knew he was over measuring my flooring space. Carpet Corral came in later & measured and installed 117 square yards of carpet with an 8-pound jade pad,for approximately the same price, $2350.00 for carpet w/8 pound pad and $570,00 for 270 VCT tiles for a total of $2920.00, leaving 30 tiles for future repair, compared to $2172.00 carpet w/ 4pound pad w/ upgrade to 6-pound pad and $ 970.00 for 315 Mannington VCT composition tiles that were defective and the wrong color with only 240 installed which was carpeteria’s price $3,142.00, and retuning 75 tiles to their store with the other same 5000 tiles Carpeteria has in their stock.I contacted Mr. Glover (cell: 760-221-****) and explained to him what was happening with my flooring and he stated that he would replace the tiles when he installed the carpet. The approximate price for the tiles was $970.00. The total amount of tiles that he ordered was 315 square feet. The actual amount of tiles he installed was 240 square feet. He actually ordered enough tiles to do two bathrooms and two entryways twice and still had extra tile. Each tile is 12X12 square feet. A list of tiles returned to the store, tiles installed, and the price for tiles in each location is available. He refused to do anything about it because I was too far away. I live 30 miles from his store. I am in Barstow and his store is in Victorville. Copies of his letters are available. In order to avoid confrontation, I merely notified the Better Business Bureau. After filing a complaint them, there was some response and the price of the tiles went from $970.00 to $1642.00 dollars. I have this in a recorded phone message and also in letterform. Copies of this change in price in letters he wrote to the BBB and banks are available No only did I go through the Better Business Bureau, I also went through Bank of America case # 5950**** and US Bank case # 126****FEB13 Credit Card Companies. They could do nothing for me. They said there was no sign of fraud. Their response letters are available I ended up filing in Small Claims court in Barstow, case Number SMC BS130**** on August 8, 2013 where I was awarded the judgment of $2650.00, which was the amount of money that I paid to Carpeteria plus cost of court. The San Bernardino Superior Court of Barstow, Small Claims Court Judgment award is available. The SBSC of Barstow Small Claims court gave Mr. Glover a 30-day grace period to pay this judgment, which was dated Aug 8, 2013. To this date, he has made no arrangements with me to pay the judgment, or try to contact me. I worked with Mr. Mike Boguslawski; a Consumer Advocate/Reporter. My complaint with Better Business Bureau is number 9874****, My complaint number with the Federal Trade Commission is 4833****. I sent a letter to Mannington VCT Manufacturer corporate headquarters informing them of the damaged tiles (LOT number: 1108 18C, bar code number 54479**** and pattern number 127 which is Warm Beige installed) should have been pattern number 123 Wheat which was ordered. These records and letters are available.I sent Carpeteria a letter of demand for payment to, attention: Joe Glover (Owner) and Anthony Zybura (store manager). I notified the Contractors State Licensing Board, (CSLB Judgment Unit), who will suspend Mr. Glover’s (License number 866822) as the owner of Carpeteria, if the judgment award is not satisfied. Carpeteria hesperia rip off scam artists

Bought Flooring. Came home from work while wife was there- had a 2 inch gap from living room to dining room and Carpeteria owner had told me there would not be a height differance. They could compensate for uneven floor base. Instead they put a peice of wooden moulding on the gap. looked like a first time amature did it. They would not fix unless I paid another $1,000 for plywood underlayment. I was stuck with a half finished floor 2 days before thanksgiving with family coming over so I was forced to pay the extortion money. Joe Glover is a rip off artist.

Dissatisfied with installation

This review refers to the Carpeteria on 55th Street in Sacramento, CA

Original review Mar 17, 2013
I used the Carpeteria on 55th Street in Sac a couple of years ago to install new carpet. They did a decent job, although in less than a year I had to have them come back out to re-stretch the carpet. Here's the whole story: The original carpet installers were very nice, and per our request left the carpet long at the doorway to the bathroom, since we were later planning to install tile and wanted to be able to roll it under to avoid a transition strip. Fast forward a year (or less) later. We had to have the carpet re-stretched already. This was very annoying, since we had to move all the furniture again, but whatever. This guy (another Carpeteria installer...maybe the same guy who did it the first time, but I'm not sure) put a transition strip (which we didn't ask for) at the doorway to the bathroom. Who cares, right? Fast forward again. We needed to install vinyl tile in the bathroom instead of regular tile, because our floor there is too flexible for "real" tile. Okay, fine. We purchased two boxes of tile, plus the installation. Each box has 25 tiles. Tile was supposed to be laid on the diagonal, but wasn't. After laying it all wrong, the guy had to rip it all out and start over. The finished job looks alright (not great), but instead of having many tiles leftover, we only have one! Now if we want extra, we have to pay for a whole new box, or just replace the whole floor if a couple of tiles become damaged sometime down the line. To top it all off, either the 2nd carpet installer or the tile guy CUT OUR CARPET that we were deliberately leaving long. He also cut it all crookedly, and now it doesn't even meet up with the tile so we have no choice but to use a transition strip. Here's the kicker: when I called Carpeteria to see if they could make it right, the guy on the phone basically said I was lying. He was very rude. Then, instead of transferring me to a manager, or someone who would help me, or at least reimburse me for my missing tiles, he transferred me to a sales guy, who refused to even give us some extra tiles!! To save yourself a potential headache, my recommendation is to NOT use these guys. Pay a little more and get the job done right. It is one thing to screw up a job, but to refuse to make things right (or even apologize) is unforgivable in my opinion. Almost forgot to mention that my carpet already needs to be re-stretched again.

Carpeteria - Most Dishonest Retailer I Have Ever Dealt With

Carpeteria - Most Dishonest Retailer I Have Ever Dealt WithCarpeteria - I ordered vinyl flooring and carpet from Carpeteria at 17260 Bear Valley Road Victorville, CA 92395, Phone # at the office is 760-955-**** and the proud owner is Joe Glover who’s cell phone # is 760-221-****, their fax # is 760-955 ****. I picked out the tile I wanted along with the carpet. The contractor came to my house with seven boxes of floor tile, these were not the color I ordered, but they were okay. The price was $680.00 for the kitchen, and there were 118 tiles installed. $125.00 for one bathroom, which had 23 tiles, installed, $125.00 for the other bathroom and there were 18 tiles installed, at the front entrance there were 24 tiles installed for $20.00 and for another $20.00 there were 16 tiles installed. This was a total of $970.00 for 199 tiles installed. The contractor installed the tiles, and a couple of days after as I was cleaning up the mess, I began to notice small pocks in some of the tiles, I call Carpeteria and told Joe about the problem, he said the carpet man would replace the tiles. As I continued to clean up I found more and more problems with the tiles, I called Carpeteria again and explained that these had to be defective and damaged tiles, and I ask the manager Joe of Carpeteria to drive to my house so he would evaluate the tile and know what to do about them. Joe had already agreed to replace the tile, but now it was only after I paid him the remainder of the bill, and the carpet man would replace the tiles. I had already paid Carpeteria $2100.00 and expected quality work. Joe, the Carpeteria manager refused to come to my home stating that it was too far.30 miles from Victorville to Barstow. It was not too far when Joe, the manager of Carpeteria drove to my home with his girlfriend or with to measure my floors, but now it’s too far. When I went to the store I asked how much he charged me for each tile, Joe couldn’t tell me because he didn’t figure it that way. I wanted tiles installed on my floor before the carpet went on, but I wanted to compare prices. I found the Tiles at Home Depot, and Lowe’s for $0.79 cent each or $33.55 for a box of 45. the only difference was the name, Carpeteria installed Mannington commercial vinyl tile, and the Lowe’s and Home depot sold Armstrong commercial vinyl tiles. Carpeteria wanted $500.00 to install their tiles and I found a tile installer who would do it for $100.00 if I provided the tile. The glue, Roberts vinyl composition tile adhesive cost $12.99 a quart if Carpeteria will not honor their warranty 15 days after the installation, what makes me believe they will honor the 15 year warranty for the tile and the carpet. I only want the defective tiles replaced. I paid $2100.00 upfront and the tile installed cost $970.00. I am requesting a refund of $1130.00, which is the difference between what the tile cost and what I already paid Carpeteria Plus the replacement of all defective and damaged tiles. I believe all of Carpeteria products are defective and all of the store managers treat the consumer the same way. My loss for this is $1130.00 plus 40 defective or damaged tiles. I cannot find the corporate headquarters of Carpeteria to complain, but I will contact the Better Business Bureau at 17311 Lilac St Hesperia CA 92345 phone # 760-948-**** and complain to them. There will be a follow up to this complaint.

Most Dishonest Retailer I Have Ever Dealt With

I had sheet vinyl flooring installed in a kitchen/dining area/hallway and bathroom. Because it was several rooms and to avoid more than one seam, the flooring (materials and labor) was $3000. It was to be installed over the existing floor since my house is on a concrete slab and I didn't want it directly on the slab. I let the installers in and left for a few hours; while I was gone, they ripped out the old flooring and started laying the new one on the slab. When I got home and inspected the floor I had no idea what they had done, it wasn't until the next day when I moved the furniture and appliances back that I knew. Because the new flooring didn't have an underlayment, everything we moved over it left indentations all over the floor. Someone from Carpeteria inspected it and said I had moved things back too soon and it was my fault. I moved the furniture back after 24 hours like they instructed me to do. They refused to do anything about it. Then it got worse- when they removed the old flooring they did not seal the cracks in the concrete slab and moisture seeped into the flooring and discolored it (big pink streaks). I called them again and they told me it was not their problem. So I filed a complaint with the BBB and they best they were willing to offer me was a new at cost. I said I would consider it and because of that the BBB had to call my case resolved. When I contacted Carpeteria to discuss the offer (twice) they never called me back and when I went into the store, the guy who sold me the floor in the first place said he couldn't help me that I had to call the manager (the one who never returned my calls). Basically, they said they would fix my floor in order to get the BBB off their backs, and once the case was closed, they refused to speak to me since they know I cannot reopen the case. So I shelled out $3000 and have several rooms of terrible looking flooring. I would not use Carpeteria again at this point even if they offered me the flooring for free.
