Steel carport collapse under 2 ft snow.

I purchased this a 14 x 20 carport with sides done for extra support and Carolina Carports installed it 15 years ago when they serviced California. We got 2 ft of snow last week and it collapsed. I called them and they said since they no longer service California they voided all the warrantees and they would not help me in anyway. Being concerned about someone getting killed under a weak structure like this I have gone public. My GF and I were under the carports when e saw it begin to crack and buckled and we ran out and within 2 seconds in collapsed with our trailer and tools and personal belongings under it. we lost everything.

Complete failure with no support

30 X 55 car port collapsed during Hurricane Ian. Rated for 170mph and they state that is only for a 3 second microburst, not a sustained wind. There was never a wind, short or long, that exceeded 170mph in our area.

Metal building 26x40

Carolina Carports is THE WORST company we have ever dealt with. Our building didnt pass inspection due to fasteners didnt meet specs. It has taken 4 months to get this resolved. They say theyre sending crew in 2 weeks. Dont show, dont call, get put back on list for another 2 wk wait, on and on. The problem was never really corrected, just a quick fix letter from engineer stating it was ok. Still have leaks after 2 trips to fix these. It least we only have 2 leaks now instead of 16!!!Save your $ and time and MUCH frustration.. do not deal with Carolina Carports!!

They're Customer service is the worst I've had.

I would not recommend this company. We had two buildings built at the same time. One of the installation crews was good, the other was horrible. One of the buildings has been leaking since new. The other buildings factory doors have never operated correctly since new, on top of everything being out of square, poor quality metal cuts and fitment. The sales team was very nice until paid in full. We were informed it was no problem to install our own insulated doors when ordering. Once the building was complete we were informed that if we installed our doors, the building warranty would be voided. They have every possible way to void your warranty. I am a state certified commercial/Residential General Contractor. Carolina Carports quality and service is subpar at best. I highly recommend ANY other company than Carolina Carports. They we're kind enough to enlighten us, that they install over 50,000 structures a year. They have no need to be concerned with my future business. I will be sharing this with others to help avoid this construction catastrophe, lack of professionalism and poor investment.

Can't get ahold of anyone in customer service to get a status on my ordered carport. Also, paid $500.00 down.

I have been trying to call for a status on my carport for 2 days. I just want to know when I will get my carport. Please answer this e-mail or call me at 573-220-****.

Inferior Quality Product and Warranty

Carolina Carports installed the RV Cover pictured below less than six years ago. (See Photo of Receipt). The support structure of their inferior quality products has totally failed, and they refuse to cover any of the excessively rusted out galvanized components under their 20 Year 12 gauge steel warranty. Based on the excessive amount of deterioration as pictured, Carolina Carports steel components began failing soon after it was installed.

Terrible!

What a horrible experience. Took 6 months to deliver. Installed very fast and it looks like crap. Considering tearing the $30,000 building down and getting a red-iron building put up. You can literally shake this 30x45 building with your hands and it will sway. Zero customer communication for several months, left dozens of messages. Then one day they said they could install it that week, while I was out of town on business. RUN, RUN, RUN from this company.

Improperly installed roof panels on metal garage

After 1 1/2yrs of calling customer service, speaking with management, sending a letter with pictures, the roof was finally replaced and installed correctly. We asked that the final balance be reduced due to the difficult time we had resolving this matter. The first attempt was replacing 10 panels which was done incorrectly, again. It took us sending in a certified letter, with pictures of the improperly installed panels and directions from a roofing company on how to install a metal roof properly, we FINALLY got the crew back out here and they replaced the whole roof. We called Carolina Carports to discuss the final balance. We wanted to have it reduced due to the hardship, the improperly installed panels and the length of time it took to resolve. We were refused any reduction of the outstanding balance. We are done fighting. We will pay the balance. We will bad mouth and never recommend this company to anyone. The company in our town that uses them we will have review our case and discontinue to use them as their contractor. Word of mouth can make a company, and can break one. Treating your customer well and showing them respect builds a good company. Carolina Carports does NOT do this

For my garage

I would like for someone to call me and let me know if they are going to do it or not.I have being waiting for almost 2 yrs now and the communication is horrible and noone wants to let me know. I have be waiting to long. plz let me know ok.THANKS

Customer service is worst I’ve ever seen

Showed up 4:30 PM to start putting up garage. Then informed me that they didnt bring garage door hardware to install it. How stupid can you be to leave without the hard ware. Told me they would be back in 1 1/2 weeks. They lied. Been 2 months and still waiting for them to come back and install door. None of them spoke English except for one guy. Really doubt that they are here legally. Tried getting ahold of company, no returned phone calls or texts. So they really dont give a damn about the customer.

Want a date for delivery

Bought carport in Aug 2021 had a delivery date and no one showed up or had the decency to inform me that they would not show up! Would like to know what happen and when will it be deliver.

Bought 2 30x40 and doors are garbage.

The buildings are shed quality and acceptable. The overhead doors are complete garbage and the man door is chintzy. Can't get warranty service repair on the doors. The company responded but made no promises.

Horrible customer service

Do not purchase anything from Carolina Carports! They will not tell you they are 8 months to a year from filling current orders. They will not give you your deposit back! I signed a contract in April 2021 and just had my building installed end of Jan 2022. When I signed the contract they said 3-4 months, what a lie! They do not have any management or supervisors you can contact. The 3 girls in the scheduling department Heather, Amanda, and Jasmine, all have terrible attitudes and even worse customer service skills. I had contacted through email and phone conversations Giovanni Gonzalez to have the exact measurements to fit the garage on a slab of concrete with a step down to prevent water getting in and when the materials arrived it did not fit the measurements they gave me even when they guaranteed the installers would make it fit. After talking with the sub contracted installers they said they were leaving the company because of how many unhappy costumers Carolina Carports had. I will never be financially compensated for my loses or dissatisfaction but I can prevent someone else from making a grave mistake. DO NOT PURCHASE AYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY!

Warranty issue

I purchased the garage 24x40 3 10x8 roll up doors one man door. Took a little over three weeks, had zero communication. Had to send a picture of slab, no idea where to send it. Only one man in the Crew could speak English. The crew left screws and metal trimmings throughout the work site. The company had no idea how to calculate TN sales tax. The roll up doors are manual, not mechanized. Who in the 21st century sells a garage door without a motor or doors which cannot be retrofitted. The doors are crooked and bind. The man door has a warped frame which bows just enough to keep the door from opening unless you kick it. Calls to the company go to voicemail and the mailbox is full, says "good bye" and hangs up. Got through to the permitting department, the only number that answers on occasion. Left a message for Lisa, No call back 5 days later. This is a pitiful operation and is to be avoided at all cost. I saved $1,000 over a local Memphis company. BIG mistake. Carolina Carports has problems top to bottom. Stay away.

Does Not Meet Obligations for Warranty

Hands down the worst company I've ever Hands down the worst company I've ever done business with. They answered a single call made to them two days after my garage was built and I told them that it leaked when it rained (Pours in) at all of the windows and walk doors, I also told them that the installers caulked the window screens to the frame so they cannot get removed. They asked me for pictures so I sent them and the lady told me I would be placed on the schedule for repair. I have since called Approximately 50 separate times as well as sent emails and occasionally would get an operator who would listen to me and then transfer me to a line that the voicemail was full and then it would hang up. As in a previous complaint I was also routinely transferred to "Renee" who either doesn't exist or who is grossly negligent/incompetent in answering calls or caring about voice-mail. (Or customers) I have also went to a local dealer for Carolina Carports who would not help me because I did not buy from them as I bought on line from Viking Steel (who will not help) but they did tell me Carolina Carports cannot keep employees as they are quitting because of being yelled at by customers as promises are made but the company is not keeping there commitments and obligations to the customers. She told me they typically take 6 months or more to make repairs because they want to use the same installers so they don't have to pay anyone else to make the repairs. I even told them they could send me the seals and screens to make the repairs myself and was told doing this would or could affect my one year warranty. The warranty will be out before they get finished at the rate they move. Finally after nobody responding I contacted the BBB and filed a complaint letting them know my issue and they got involved, Carolina Carports response to them was in less than a day however that they typically make repairs in twelve + weeks and give 2-3 day advance notice to the customer that they have someone in the area. When you pay what I did for a garage and cannot use it and then get told we will fix it but you need to wait three + months that is ridiculous and surely a poor way to do business. I would never do anyone this way. I rejected their response and I am currently waiting to hear back from them. I would not recommend this company (Carolina Carports) at all and it is ashame as I actually have a nice garage, I also would not recommend Viking Steel as they don't want anything to do with you after the order is placed Never again with Carolina Carports!
