Refund Request

Contracted Budget Van Lines to move my limited household item, no major appliances/bedrooms, or Living room and after quoting me a specific price the Contracted Driver showed with an attitude and demanded the price be upgrade to over $4000.00 Even when i discarded a majority of my pre-shipment items, the driver refused to take my goods and eventually left without any notification. As a company with millions of customers who have been satisfied with your service, I'm sure that resolving my minor concern s can be handled in a professional, responsible and respectful way. Hope to hear from you soonest. Larry & Jennifer Thomas

Moving crate and transport

I had asked for an extension on the pickup of a crate. They were spose to deliver it to my new address. Although they gave me an extra day ...they wouldn't allow any more time. First, they called before 7am. Then they said I had to empty the crate . From 7am until after 10 am they called me over and over and over. I had over 60 missed calls and emails and text messages On top of the nonrefundable deposit they wanted to charge me another 175 for canceling...but I didn't cancel they did

Pissed Consumer

Budget Van Lines, the worst experience ever. Do not believe the fake "A+ BBB rating" that is posted. This moving company is the worst, terrible service, false advertising, and dishonorable business practice. All of our possessions that were moved showed up broken, destroyed, fragile glass items that were label were all shattered, bed head boards and dresser had multiple fractured legs and scratches. We had a safe that showed up broken into, locked looked picked, and wrapped in gray duck tape. No management involvement. Then they held our moving truck with all our properties for over a week for payment issues because they want cash or cashiers check only, no credit card as we are moving from one state to another. Our kids had no clothes, no bed, no kitchen supplies. I would not recommended this company to my worst enemy. If I could I would rate -1 star.

Train wreck moving experience

Quoted me 1 figure which the mover raised 3000 after he had loaded all of my furniture on the truck. Delivery date was not honored. These guys are merely a broker, quoting low ball estimates that will not be honored by the movers. We still have not gotten our furniture (a week past due). When I talked to the budget rep he could not pass the buck nor get off the phone quick enough. Our nightmare is not over yet. We’re preparing for the worst (damages, missing furniture, additional charges). AVOID BUDGET VAN LINES AT ALL COSTS!!!

Just wants your money

thank god I only went to their website for a quote. I've been looking online for price quotes for a move from MN to FL and while looking online their website popped up as one of the first links, after using their website and getting a quote it seemed low, only $2000 to move cross country?? and then not even 10 minutes later my phone went off with a 1800 number which I reject. then I start getting calls every 2 minutes from different states so I started to block the numbers. finally I got fed up and decided to answer, I explain to this guy that I'm sick of getting calls I'm not interested in your service and this guy has the audacity to say "well wanna know how to make the calls stop, if you buy my service ill place you on a national do not call list." after I mumble out some curses at the guy I hang up and since hanging up I've been continually receiving phone calls from random out of state numbers.

Terrible and Immoral Company

An absolutely terrible and immoral company. They guaranteed to me a specific pickup date, and on said pickup date, there was no communication from them during the entire day until I reached out to them to inquire. I then requested full cancellation and refund of my money, of which they are still attempting to charge 1/3 of the total cost to my credit card. I am actively disputing the claim, filing a complaint to the Better Business Bureau, and working to address this immoral behavior from a terrible corporation that does not care about customers in any way.

Will put misinformation in your quote and lie to your face

I first spoke to a sales person "David" and described the size of my storage unit. He told me he was basing the move on an 8x10 storage unit as well as two extra items, a table and a wall unit. He told me it was not necessary to itemize the storage unit and that he could base it on the size of the unit. He expressly stated that it wasn't necessary to list all of the items, since it was impossible to count everything crammed in storage, and that he could base the estimate on the size of the unit. When the movers arrived, they packed my truck and only told me once the truck was nearly packed that it was vastly in excess of the quote. The quote listed the square footage at 334 square feet, vastly smaller than the 8'x10'x9' unit that I quite explicitly described multiple times. The mover told me that I would lose my deposit if they had to unload it. I called every number I had for budget van lines and no one answered. I felt I had no choice, and so I agreed to a revised quote under duress. I was finally able to reach the office a day or so later and was redirected to "Jasmine" who told me that they would investigate it, because the mover was not supposed to do this. Once the weight came in, she said it was a non issue because the total price after being weighed was only $2,100 anyway. We both expressed relief that there was nothing I needed to do. I asked for documentation of the weight and was never provided with it and was unable to reach the office, but was relieved that it was close to the original estimate. Everything was put in storage despite my request. I spoke to Jasmine again on January 2nd and she said that she said that everything was still in storage and she had no information about when it would be released but that she would call me on January 4th. I then got a call from a mover at 7 pm that night, January 2nd, that they had already arrived and were coming in the morning. He then told me that the bill was $2,100 and I expressed that there must be some mistake. I was told that the total was $2,100 and had already paid $1,400, and I wasn't able to get a money order for that vastly increased sum in less than 24 hours. If I had been given a full 24 hours notice I could have withdrawn that vastly increased amount. The mover refused any other form of payment. I called Jasmine and she said, "that's odd, it was 2,100 total, I'll look into it." Once she realized that she had told me the remainder instead of the total, she denied the mistake. They then put my items in storage a second time and charged me an extra $700. When they're not lying to make a sale or cover up mistakes, they're simply incompetent. $4,100 after an 1,800 quote and still no stuff.

Worst move experience

They find movers who don't know how to handle stuff. I lost a lot of stuff on delivery and they said they'd pay be $0.60 a pound. I lost about $1000 worth of stuff and I'll end up with $54 for $1000 I lost. They damaged my couch by leaving it in the sun for 15 days. I called Budget Van Lines and they told to deal with the mover and they don't do anything with it. On the day of pick up the driver was in a hurry and he didn't even write down all the information that he moved on the list, I asked them immediately after they left and he didn't care to respond to my call. The driver who picked my stuff isn't the driver who dropped my stuff.

Horrible Experience - AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Let’s start with Budget is not a moving company. They call around to find anyone, and I mean anyone to move you. Their scam is to pressure you for a non-binding deposit over the phone. I had to literally list everything over the phone with some representative who did not speak English. He did not understand what I had to move, left out my shed, my garage and ALL THE BOXES. More on that later. 6 days before the move, they sent me the movers name - some fly by night operator who rents trucks and uses local temp help across the US. He had 1 star Google Ratings. I called his references, and even they said he sucked and avoid him. So I tried to cancel. Ooops, too late. You can only cancel more than 7 days out. So sad. So now we have to find a new mover, who couldn’t come for 2 weeks. When this mover came, he wanted to charge me $3,000 because the original idiot didn’t list all my stuff on the non-binding contract. Unreasonable Requests

I own a company in Boise Idaho. We hired a new employee who lived in South Dakota. Unfortunately the new employee selected Budget Van Lines to get their belongings moved. Since we were helping with relocation expenses, the new employee forwarded information to me to pay for the move. I filled out the requested information and provided my credit card information and signed a form authorizing a credit card payment. A few days later I was informed by my credit card company that my card had been charged. A moving container was provided to the new employee and his belonging were loaded and the container was taken away and he and his family began there trip across country to Idaho. When they were about half way to Idaho they were contacted by Budget Van Lines and informed that I need to provide a copy of my driver's license front-and-back and a copy of my credit card front-and-back before they would be able to deliver the household belongings. Our new employee contacted me and I called BVL and told them that I was not willing to do that for security reasons and that I had already provided my credit card information and signed permission to charge my card and my card had already been charged. They continued to insist that they would not deliver until I had complied with this request. When I refused to comply, they said that I would then have to wire them the money. I was told they would sent wire instructions immediately. I did not receive the wire instructions until the middle of the next day. We immediately processes an ACH payment using the information provided. The next weekend we received notice that the ACH had not gone through because the wrong information was provided. At that point we were provided with the final payment amount which included $150 for storage charges. In the meantime, my new employee and his family had been living in an empty house for a week waiting for there belongings. It was very frustrating to deal with this company!!!

Budget Van Lines - Long Distance Moving Service Review from Chicago, Illinois

TERRIBLE!!! Relocated from Indianapolis to Chatlotte. Found Budget Van Lines through movers.com. Got a call from rep. Seemed knowledgable. Emailed me quote over the phone and emailed me inventory list. Pick up window Sept 23rd-26th. I called few days before to confirm pick up. Rep states pick up window is Sept 24-27th. Note to self, review every part of contract. What they say over the phone is not what they have on paper. I call again to confirm pick up window. Rep says "you are confirmed 24th to 27th. Evening on 26th, rep calls and informs me they carrier can't move me, will be able to refund me. I didnt prepare last minute movers. They find another carrier to take the job on Sept 27th. Long story short, he arrives in the morning, very professional but gives me more bad news . My mive went from $1900 to $4700. Will never use them again nor refer them. Shady!

Fraud Alert! Budget Van Lines/LD Moving and Storage

On March 6, 2016, I contracted with LD Moving and Storage to help move and relocate our items from El Cajon, CA to Gulfport, MS. Prior to this, Budget Van Lines brokered this move at an estimated $2,500. When the movers and foreman arrived on March 6, 2016, all of them smelled of marijuana and two of the three were clearly under the influence. After several minutes, I was quoted a new adjusted price of $5,300, twice the amount I was originally quoted! The foreman stated I had more items than on the initial inventory list, which is true, however I did not have twice the amount of items or weight. However, at this point, my husband and I felt we had no other choice, and proceeded with the move. The movers began to wrap and load our items. The entire time, the movers were making rude and inappropriate statements about our items. Statements included, “They seriously want to move this *** and “They have so much *** While I understand moving may not be an ideal profession, talking down to your customers in front of them is rude and inconsiderate. My husband and I had three friends over the entire time to watch/whiteness how they loaded our items. We were not told that our items were going to be unloaded at the warehouse and then loaded again on the actual moving truck until after everything was loaded. I was also not made aware that I had to pay any cash that day. I was only aware that I had to pay cash on the final delivery. While I still do not appreciate that I had to pay cash, as I feel that is inappropriate business, I was willing to agree as long as I could pay the rest via credit card, as my employer is reimbursing part of my move expenses and I need documentation. After they are done loading, the foreman stated the final amount will be $3,750, and I HAD to pay $450 in cash that day. Again, this was not something we were aware of, and were not prepared for. We went to the ATM and pulled the cash because at this point, our entire lives were in that truck. Upon delivery, the movers began to unload our items, and several items have been damaged or were missing. The movers unloading the items were very friendly unlike the movers who initially loaded everything. However, the driver himself was very rude. He stated, “Good luck getting any of these broken items reimbursed” which I found to be rude and inconsiderate. At this time, I have estimated $2,591.98 in damaged and missing items. I am requesting that the entire amount is compensated back to us for all of the hassle, miscommunication, and damages to our items. People hire moving companies because they expect to pay for a service. I expected to pay for our items to be shipped from one location to another, in the same condition in which they were loaded, and I do not appreciate anything being in any other condition than that. Budget Van Lines will do anything to get your money, even if it means using a shady moving company.

STAY AWAY FROM BUDGET

MOVER BE WARE!!! EXTREMELY dissatisfied. DON'T use Budget!!!! We regret having used Budget Van Lines, will never use them again, will not refer them and have made sure those we know (particularly those moving) are aware of our horrific experience with Budget. We knew Budget was a booking company. We based our decision to contract with them based on the information provided us. Had we received the services promised and our move had been handled as contracted (in compliance with laws and regulations), we would have felt we paid an acceptable amount. However, that wasn't the case! Our bad experience started from the second Budget's Representative answered our initial telephone call, everything he told us was lies. This is not just 'our' side of the events. Budget records every call, after listening to our conversations, this Representative was given time off without pay, confirming Budget knew we were lied to from the start. There were many issues between our first phone call until delivery, all compounded by the 9 months following. Some of the biggest issues/lies: 1) A compartmentalized moving semi would pick up our belongings and Harley Davidson, meaning our possessions would be separated from the next customer's belongings. We, also, paid for an additional compartment for the Harley. 2) The moving Company would arrive on a specific day with an am or pm arrival time, calling an hour before arriving. 3) We would be provided weight slips before and after our possessions were loaded, to compare the estimated weight we paid for and the actual weight of our possessions, resulting in a credit or debit. Budget contracted Platinum Van Lines for our move; we had no say in who they chose. The driver arrived 10 hours late, with a single compartment Enterprise Leasing truck with no ramp; and never called in advance. We initiated all the calls with Budget, Platinum and the driver for those 10 hours, being told lie after lie about where they were, why they were late, when they would arrive. Because it was a single compartment truck, our Harley had to be protected by our mattresses, which were tied around it (staining and ripping the mattresses). Though Budget was well aware of the Harley being shipped and the need for a ramp to drive it onto the expected semi, there was only a back lift on the truck. The difficulty of loading it rest on my boyfriend, with the 2 movers hanging onto him and the Harley, so neither fell off!!!! No weight slips were provided at the time of pickup or delivery. Yet, the driver still insisted we owed $400 at the time of delivery, even though he had no weight slips to prove we were over the weight we paid for in advance. There was no other reason to charge us. However, you pay or you don't get your possessions. At the time of pick up, we signed numerous documents, including insurance forms. Yet, when we attempted to apply for reimbursement on the our damaged items and a lost container, we were informed by 2 separate insurance carriers that they had dropped Platinum. Platinum Van Lines had no insurance while transporting our belongings! Not providing weight slips and not carrying insurance is a violation of the DOT/FMCSA, both were notified in writing of the violations, along with the AMSA. Just 24 hours after pick up, Budget called us and acknowledged all the lies told us initially. After delivery, Budget spent 9 months stringing us along and putting us through our paces, completing forms, answering emails and forwarding numerous pictures, acting like they were going to help. We believed they were going to step up and do the right thing. Then, 9 months later, it was "so sad," "too bad!" We did everything we could before and after the delivery to assure a smooth move and follow up for compensation. We acted in good faith for 9 months, doing everything asked of us. In the end, Budget offered us $150, their booking fee, which was supposed to justify our mistreatment and cover the cost for the damage to our furniture (which we didn't claim) and $600+ of missing items. But there was a 'catch.' In order to receive the $150, we first had to sign legal documents, agreeing to never discuss this transaction or speak negatively of Budget in any public forum. We refused. Platinum went out of business; we had no recourse with them. We contracted with Budget; they contracted with Platinum. It was Budget's responsibility to make sure they used a reputable firm that abided by the laws and regulations. I wish I had enough time and energy to write everything we went through. Just writing this has made me angry, again!!! SO, pass the word and stay clear of Budget Van Lines or you'll be the next person writing on Yelp to warn others!!!

Rip off Company

This company is out to scam you and steal your money. The agent gave me a quote based on my inventory. I told him that I would have to add items as I was not home. He told me not to worry and that he will over estimate everything for me. Needless to say when the movers came they told me that I was under quoted. Instead of paying $4500 I would have to pay $6000. Budget van lines had told me that I had a refundable $1400 if any of the services were not satisfactory. When I told them that I could not pay their mover $6000 they told me that they would have to keep the $1400 deposit. The customer agent named James would not allow me to talk to the agent who took my order nor the manager. He just kept telling me that they are keeping the money and that is it. Avoid this company at all costs.
