B-Way photo may be closed? Good.

I'd ordered a Canon HV-30 camcorder from Broadway Photo. I let them talk me into a camera bag, (which was total trash, and only worth about $8.00), lens filters, etc. I still have all the stuff, but they did high-pressure me into buying the other items. They were still trying to get me to buy even more, but I put the brakes on them. If they are closed, all I can say is good riddance to them. I'm actually amazed that somebody didn't come along and close them down for bad business practices. Better late than never, I guess. Randy, The Lazy Comic.

Broadway Photo - what a complete scam

I ordered a projector from Broadway Photo and they told me I could order two extra replacement bulbs for about $200 less than they would cost if I bought them separately. They still cost several hundred dollars but knowing how expensive the bulbs can be they convinced me that it made sense to buy them at the time of the order. When the order arrived the bulbs were missing, and when I called they said they don't ship the bulbs until they are needed since they have a shelf life. When I called later to request the bulbs they said that they don't sell bulbs and that what I really bought was a third party warranty from a company that is not longer in business. No one ever mentioned anything about a third party warranty until now when it is much too late. I never would have bought a third party warranty - I was told I was buying replacement bulbs. What a complete scam. Whatever you do, please don't buy from Broadway Photo. If you do, you will be sorry.

Do Not buy from Broadway

I've spent 21 years in working in a government job that requires the up-most integrity and honesty. I bought a camera from Broadway Photo. They lied, the stole, they cheated. Only only wanted the camera at the advertised price. They tried to sell me the stand, cleaning kit, etc. for much more money. I said I didn't want it. They sent it anyway and my bill was for approx. 200 more than the camera! I tried to return everything and they wanted a 10% or 30 buck restock fee. I'm sure this is a scam to make money. I had to call my credit card company to contest everything they tried to charge! I would expect this from a third world country or crooks...they are the latter. Of all the blogs you are reading, heed to this one: Do not buy from Broadway Photo!

Did not deliver as promised

I purchased a Cancan DVd on Dec. 24. Two days later got a call to upgrade the battery. When I didn't it suddenly became back ordered. I have called twice and today was told it would ship . I will believe it when I have it. It was as though because I didn't upgrade they put the order on hold. I found their customer service people very matter of fact and they were not helpful . When I complained the web site did not show back order, I was told it hadn't been updated. Yet it still show in stock

Stay Away fom Broadway Photo

I purchased a "in stock" Canon FS 100 camcorder from Broadway Photo on 12/01/08 for $252.00 plus free shipping. I paid an extra 14.99 for 3 day shipping, but the next day I checked status and it said (to call order pending). The person I talked to at Broadway Photo tried to hard-sell me an additional battery for the camera. When I decline, he said he will try to get my order out since there in short supply. I told him that's the wrong answer. It was in stock when I purchased it and paid extra for 3 day shipping. If it's not in stock cancel my order now!! He said oh I see that you did pay extra and I'll confirm your order and get it out right away. I got home from work and checked status on my order, it said sorry item is back ordered will email when it arrives. I looked at their website still shows item in stock for $252.00

Broadway Photo - SCAM - manipulators

I purchases a Sony WebCam. the price sounds great until they call you with an excuse to verify the billing address and then proceed to scam you into buying accessories that YOU NEED ANYWAY but dont tell you they are generic brand and WAY overpriced. the camera cost me DOUBLE than i was quoted and when i wanted to return it, i was told there was a 20% RESTOCKING FEE. I try calling them but the phone is always busy. I finally get through and get a message that the voice box is full and cannot leave a message (probably with all the complaints). They are good at manipulating people over the phone with lies.

Broadeay photo.com changed price.

Broadway Photo.com was simply lier, and when I placed the order of digital camera, they sent me an e-mail to confirm the order, however they changed the price higher, and asked me German or U.S. version. What is it? On the web-site, it didn't ask me about it. Also they haven't shipped my old order to me over 1 year. That is just riduculous. And the customer service did not listen to the cutomer. They asked me just which one I want even though I insisted that the price is wrong. They just didn't listen to me and was saying that I'm busy, and finally OK this order has cancelled, which I did not say it.

Here it is almost christmas and I just checked my order. They say it is on backorder 3to 4 week wait.Funny thing is I just checked their site again and the same camera is still at the same price and in stock ships in 1to2 days. Sorry but I smell a rat!

Something is Shady at Broadway Photo

My wife ordered a Canon Vixia HG20 camcorder from Broadway Photo for an excellent price of $493. When a customer rep contacted her shortly after about a special package available for that particular camera (including several longer lasting batteries, an external charger, and some lens covers for $250 more, it seems a good deal as she knew the high cost of those items. She asked if they were Canon products and she was told "Yes, they are canon approved". When asked what the product number was, the salesman (Luke) said "CN 819". Well that sounded right to my wife (CN = canon) but, when she told me, I had already researched battery packs for the camcorder, and Canon batteries are labeled BP not CN. Given that I have had bad results in the past with 3rd party rechargeables, I called Luke back and questioned him regarding the batteries. He did admit that they are not Canon products, then quoted incorrectly high prices for the Canon products to show me what a "good deal" it was. When I told him that I preferred to purchase the Canon accessories and wished to delete his accessory package from my order, he immediately took offense, told me I was yelling at him and that I had an attitude from the time he answered the phone. He then told me the order was cancelled and hung up on me. I immediately called back and talked to the store manager (Lawrence) who at first apologized to me then asked me to hold for a moment. He came back on the phone and asked if I knew that the camera I was buying was an import model? He went on to tell me that if I wanted an American version of the camera, like the ones I could buy at my local stores, it would cost $599. Was he telling the truth? I doubt it. He probably relies on selling packages like the battery/lens pack they tried to sell to me to make a profit. And when I refused to buy it, he refused to sell. Then again, maybe the camera wasn't really the Canon that I was hoping for, as he said, despite being depicted as such on the web site. Needless to say, I cancelled the order completely, and purchased my camera and accessories from Amazon.com, a trustworthy company for just a little bit more money. There is no question something shady is going on at Broadway Photo, and anyone who purchases from them is a fool. Just imagine what it would be like to deal with them if you did purchase, and had a problem with the item. You might as well kiss the money goodbye. For your sake, please heed my advice!

Broadway Photo

You'll get put through an extremely tough hard-sell when they call to confirm your order. Expect lies about the product and shipping charges despite being told/advertised of FREE shipping. You WON'T get the item without buying an overpriced upgrade - I promise. Awful experience. Lots of youtube.com and online complaints. PC world has a BIG negative write-up on them. Bait & Switch

I found a camera on a web search that was priced right. The site stated that shipping was in 2-3 days. I purchased the camera. They state that they needed to speak with me. When I called, they said the camera I bought was not for use in the US and that I would have to pay about $100 more to get a camera that would be ok in America. Then when I acquiesced, It took them a week to even start the shipping process. I won't get the camera for at least 10 days after purchasing. This is not good business.

Also operating as WildDigital.com

Broadway photo is also operating under many different names. WildDigital.com is one of them. They tried to high pressure me into buying more accessories, promised to deliver in two days, but after refusing the accessories, said the item was not in stock and I would have to wait for another shipment. They are very rude, agressive and threatening on the phone. These people can't be trusted. There are many more reports on the internet about Broadway Photo. Also do not trust WildDigital.com. They are just looking to steal youor money. Report them to your credit card company and attorney general ASAP!

Broadway Photo Switch and Bate

I ordered online from Broadway Photo. The next day I received a sales call (under guise of verification) trying to get me to change order to US model for plus 20%. There is nothing online in product description about "international" model. Wanting to get the reduced price, I insisted that I was OK with international model, without the US warranty. Then sales tried to get me to order related items. The next day I checked my order status on website to find my order was now back-ordered without my knowledge (no email) while their website still shows same model as in stock. I think this is what is called a bait and switch tactic.

Scam with 4 companies involved

I've been searching for a Nikon D80 and contacted 3 different companies from the web. After the first bad experience with "CameraAddict.com" where, after placing my order, I received an e-mail asking to call to "confirm" address and told that the battery and charger were not included, and that I would have to pay another $200+ dollars to be able to use my camera, I cancelled the order, thinking it was just "1" bad seed! I then placed an order with "BroadwayPhoto.com" and was amazed to go through exactly the same experience, with the addition of a very rude and pushy person on the phone who refused to take my call after I placed the order, and never answered my numerous messages to cancel the order (4 messages left within 2 hours, immediately after placing the order). Then I tried "FotoConnection.com" However, I was beginning to be suspicious, I decided to check internet for "customers' comments on all three of these companies. I was surprise (I'm trusting and a slow learner, I guess) to find out numerous comments that were practically identical for all three companies, and even a fourth one ("EveryPrice.com") with similar experience to mine. One comment even noted that the address of both CameraAddict and BroadwayPhoto is at east 89th st Brooklyn, NY. I'm not sure how many more "companies" are part of this scam, but I will never buy on lone before checking comments again. It's well worth paying 3 to 5 % more to get the real thing and be confident in what you buy!

Broadway Photo scam

I live in central Texas and ordered a Garmin 260W GPS from Broadway Photo. After 3 days and no update on my order I called their service center. I had to make three calls and never got to speak with the "expedite specialist". Hold time for the calls varied from 16 minutes to 23 minutes. About an hour later I checked my status and I needed to call a number and ext to verify my order. I called, was asked to please hold and 20 minutes later I am speaking the the man. He verified my name, address and my order. Then he tried to sell me a memory chip... a carrying case.. extended warranty. then came the real kicker. Garmin sells the latest maps for 100 dollars and he can let me have it for 49.99. Told him I was not interested in anything other than what I ordered. He then asked if I was happy with the japanese maps and icons that I purchased and the instruction manual being in japanese? WHAT!!! I really need US maps being in Texas. After a bit of discussion, he did let me cancel the order and a couple hours later i got an email confirming the cancellation. Now it the credit card reversal goes thru, I will be happy. I then checked the internet for reviews on Broadway Photo and I am only one of thousands of complaints. Please do not fall into the same trap. Check the site BEFORE the order

Broadway Photo- Bait and switch scam

This company is an internet bait and switch company and very aggressive on the phone. They advertised the lowest price to get me to place the order and then tried to sell me other items I did not want by sending me an email saying I needed to call them to confirm my order three days after I had originally placed the order. When I called to confirm, they told me the item I ordered had high glare and I needed other items added to my order to even be able to use the original item I ordered. After thinking better of this transaction within a couple of hours I decided to cancel order knowing that I had been scammed. When I called, they told me I had to talk to customer service but that they were currently closed and I would have to try back the next day. I explained that I wanted to cancel an order before it could be shipped. He claimed he was only an operator although all subsequent phone calls have uncovered no such operator. I then sent an email explaining my issue and that I wanted to cancel that order. Never got a response from that. Once I discovered how this company operated, I called back and I asked the person on the phone to cancel my order. He said I would still be required to pay a restocking fee even if I returned the item unopened. I said I would do that but didn't think I should have to pay a restocking fee since I didn't want the stuff the pushy salesmen talked me into. I told him I would even be willing to repurchase just the original item I had ordered to which he then replied, "I don't care where you buy your item". At this point, I ask to speak to someone above him and he replied that there was no one above him to talk to. Their customer service is unethical if not unavailable, unfriendly, and rigid. These salesmen and customer service are all the same people who are pushy, rude, evasive and not customer friendly. The web site is flawed and no receipt or itemized description of my order was ever available to me.
