Substandard parts

I purchased a recoil assembly for my Toro Timecutter 31" mower after the original assembly finally gave out after nearly 5 years. The one I purchased in 12/2022 is now broken (pawls fell out) after only 8 months of use. I was told by the Briggs and Stratton authorized dealer basically too bad so sad. Seriously? How does a product go from 5 years of use yo less than 8 months? Another telling sign is that the assembly is on backorder...gee, could that have to do with the fact they now last less than a year? For the price paid for Briggs and Stratton, I will go with off brands from now on. Totally unacceptable. And the fact that there are no phone numbers one can call to speak to a human to address this substandard product speaks volumes. Sad. It's the apparent the Briggs and Stratton name is not associated with quality any longer.

New mower wont start

New mower purchased and exchanged within a week. 2nd mower stopped running within 3 weeks. Cant get any help from Briggs and Stratton except an automated number which says contact dealer. All local dealers are backed up over a month to even look at it. Number on website is missing a digit so unable to call any other numbers. No live person to talk to.

Didn't last a year

I purchased a Toro 22" Person Pace mover in April 2022. I used it around 20 time last season & 5 this season. In May 2023 the lawn mower locked up. no noise or smoke just locked up. This is the fifth Toro Person Pace I have bought. I took it to the service shop that Toro has on file to do warranty & repairs. After reviewing the mower/motor the repair shop said that it had been run without oil and Briggs and Stratton denied the claim. I check the oil every time I mow and it has never been ran without oil. I tried to call Briggs and Stratton and could never get to talk to a person. So I called Toro and after many calls I finally got to talk to a real person. They told me that since if has been over a year that they could not do any thing and they didn't have a good number for Briggs and Stratton. Toro has lost my business and after reading all of the other reviews it looks like they lost a lot more. By the way the toro has a 2 year full and 3 year guaranteed to start warranty. no

Extremely poor customer service and exchange policy

Bought a new Toro mower with a Briggs and Stratton engine last year. With only about 15 hours on the engine the head gasket blew. An authorized service center made the repair under warranty. A short time later the engine failed. The service center said it would need a new engine. After months {now were in 2023} Briggs and Stratton approved a new engine. As of this writing, here I sit with NO MOWER since the approved engine replacement has yet to arrive!!! The grass still grows however so I was using an old clunker mower which, as you may have guessed, died leaving me no choice but to go out and buy a new mower!!! Imagine how pissed I am to be put in the position to have to buy another, new mower, which, I wouldn't need to do if Briggs and Stratton would put the customer first and send out the new engine for the "new" mower sitting in the service center. The service center {Northeast Equipment} has NOT been able to make any headway on getting this engine. Now it's my turn to take up the fight. This has turned into a very frustrating process since I have yet to get a human being on the phone so I can fight this. This company sucks, but I'm not giving up.

I want to talk to a real person. I dont like talking to computers. I need technical information that Im not gonna get from a computer. I need to talk to somebody who knows clearly they dont respect their customers who have purchased tools and equipment with their engines on them. Pretty sad.

Your contact provision is a DISASTER

Updated by user May 24, 2023
There has been no contact from B&S.B&S is a big company,- it did not get to that position by totally ignoring their customer base. Into the future, - the inclusion of a B&S engine on a product that interests me will be the kiss-of -death for that product.

B&S are of the opinion that there are sufficient OEM companies that include their engines that they do not have to care about existing customers. WRONG! The new version of my ride-on mower has a Kawasaki engine.

Perhaps B&S should take note of another WIS. mega company that recently ignored its customer base with devastating effect.

I want a service manual for my B&S engine, Model:- 44U677. Type :- 0004G1. Code 180522yG. The model/type is not recognized by your system and it is not possible to get an answer as to why that is. You want to know what frustration is - then try phoning your system from outside.

Bad Camshaft

How in the *** does an engine with less than 100 hours on it have a bad camshaft? Never again will I purchase anything with a Briggs and Stratton engine or Craftsman on it? They produce nothing but junk!

STILL WAITING FOR FEEDBACK FROM TECHNICAL SERVICE

Original review May 10, 2023
Obviously no technical service for Generator P 2400 available in Germany (Europe) that can support. Technical inquiries are being forwarded to USA for clarification, but still waiting for response since several weeks. Nightmare

Sends wrong parts and sticks you with them

"This review is for briggsstrattonstore.com, NOT briggsandstratton.com. I wish there was an option for 0 stars. I called Briggs & Stratton Store to receive help obtaining the correct part for a transfer switch. I provided the model and serial number for the customers transfer switch and the agent sent me a diagram to identify the part number. There were no pictures to use to verify the part looked the same but the agent assured me that it would be the correct part. The part arrived and was for a 100a transfer switch and not the 200a that I provided information for. I called customer service to start the return process. The part is in the box they sent and has never left the office. I was told I could return the part for a 20% restocking fee and I pay shipping. First I would need to send pictures proving the part was in new and uninstalled condition in its original packaging. I did so and then received an email saying we would be unable to return the part since it was an electrical component. The agent knew full well what part it was when telling me we could return it. Additionally the part was ordered based on an agents information from the beginning. They now are giving me a different part number that costs twice as much and wanting me to purchase this new part blindly as well while keeping an expensive part we have no use for. It is bad enough they wanted to charge a restocking fee for their mistake but this is ridiculous. Might want to remove the slogan Fit right the first time from your page.
