Awful customer service

BEWARE OF BEKINS VAN LINES. THEY WILL NOT COMPLETE THE MOVE AFTER BEING PAID, THEY WILL DAMAGE YOUR FURNITURE, THEY WILL REFUSE TO PROVIDE YOU WITH A CLAIM FORM. DESPITE THIER PROMISES, THEY HAVE AVOIDED ANY FURTHER CONTACT WITH ME OR THEIR AFFILIATE. USE ANOTHER CARRIER THAT WILL PROVIDE SERVICE AND NOT CHEAT YOU! In June, your local agent quoted me a total moving fee of $770, which was also supposed to include any travel time. This move was actually less mileage than the May move. You charged me an additional $77.50 which is not specified on your invoice. Although I paid the entire fee, I called you the same day to dispute this additional fee. You said it was because your people spent 4 1/2 hours which was a fabrication. Although you told me that the movers would call when they were on route, they did not. I had to call your offices, and finally got called at 9:10 am. I met them at the storage unit at 9:20, and their work was concluded at 12;23. That was 3 hours and 3 minutes. There should have been no additional charge. You have refused to discuss this issue and to provide a remedy. Your own invoice clearly indicated $770. Your mover dropped and dragged my custom-made bookcase along the cement. He did not offer any apologies. He said he would report it. Apparently, he did not based on my conversations. Before they left, I asked the older mover if the bed had been reassembled. He said "was it supposed to be?" A few minutes later I went upstairs, only to find that the slats were not assembled. He said the slates were the wrong size, and that they were not needed. I called Sealy, Simmons, Serta, and over 10 local furniture companies. All said that all queen and king size beds need slates. On June 6, I reported this to you. You told me that if you would have to come out for repairs to both my bed and bookcase, that I would be charged $290 for service and a 2 hour minimum. On June 8, I left a message stating that the entire bed collapsed. I now have a bed that I can neither sleep on, or sit. This was due to the incompetence, negligence or just plain laziness of your employees. Of course, I never got a response from you because it appears that you just don't care. I believe that I am entitled to repairs or replacements if needed. Needless to say, I am very disappointed. If I do not hear from you by Wednesday, July 14, then I will assume that you do not intend to service my needs. In such case you may be assured that we will pursue other courses of action that will prove both embarrassing and expensive to Bekins. Tony Raymond 973 Circle Drive Baltimore, MD 21227

Lied that storage was vacuumed sealed . Clothes destroyed. Stuff stolen and every piece of furniture broken or damaged

We had Bekins pick up our stuff to move to storage. Was told it was in an airtight container. Wrong ( everything was filthy) They stole my Apple Watch and send a crew that drank all the beer in my refrigerator. Then when our stuff arrived in Texas what wasn't broken it was destroyed. DO NOT Believe their sales team because its all a lie. Sell everything before you ever use this company.

Run don't walk away, find another moving company.

I will make this short. If Bekins/Wheaton was the last moving company, move yourself. To many issues with my move to write down, nor does anyone care. Just understand before they move you that it will not go well.

Wheaton/Bekins moving

My experience with this company was a nightmare. I was moved from Denver, CO to Little Rock, AR. Almost all of my furniture was broken including 150 year old family heirlooms and furniture my now deceased dad had built that was handed to me in pieces! I never received a new 8 foot ladder and the company said they weren’t responsible. Some one has a new $150 ladder. My broken furniture had pieces missing that were never received. Not only did they break the furniture, they lost the pieces! A dresser had 3 of the 4 legs broken off and missing, And WHEATON/BEKIN ISNT RESPONSIBLE!!! Then who is!!! It wasn’t broken before the move. I am shocked at the lack of integrity of this company and their employees. Also the dishonesty that prevails throughout the company. Sharon Beech is my adjuster. They sent a company out to look at all the damage. It was raining that evening, and they said they would come back to see the damaged things that were outside, and I agreed. I was waiting for a call to reschedule, when I receive a letter that my claim is closed and a check for $200 which doesn’t begin to cover the damage or my stolen ladder. DONT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY SHOULD NOT GET BY WITH THIS. IT SOUNDS LIKE THERE ARE OTHERS LIKE ME SO HEED OUR WARNING!

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE

My move from New Mexico to Maine was a nightmare. Bekins picked up my belongings on 5/18/18, to go to the storage, until approximately 6/23 for delivery. Many calls and excuses and lies. 'The truck didn't stop', 'no driver', 'I don't know', on and on. Finally they delivered on 7/9. My TV was broken. All boxes were crushed. This was not a full house load. Many boxes are missing. A small truck from Olympia delivered. The driver took pictures of all the damage and was taking them back, as proof. I moved in to a small senior apartment. 2 rooms, galley kitchen. I had the drivers put my boxes in my storage unit, and only kept a few to unpack in my apt. As I went to unpack boxes in my storage unit, I found that many were missing. I filed a claim with Bekin's and after many calls I have not received a check. It is now Oct 25th. I will be filing a complaint with the Attorney General along with the Better Business Bureau BE WARE OF THIS COMPANY

Worst experience ever!

One guy shows up first day....not three. He said other helpers weren't answering their phones. Job supposed to be done one day, but took two. Called dispatcher Sunday, but voice mailbox full. Several damaged items! Do not use Bekins....the keystone cops of Moving.

Worse moving experience ever!

Wow...the worse move we have ever experienced. Three vs four (as promised) guys showed up..one was a trainee, four days on the job. He managed to drop my mattress..didn't have it wrapped in plastic..didn't put my bed back correctly, lost supporting boards in the 4 mile move and then our bed broke because of it. Then Daniel, the Warehouse Manager with the biggest attitude and hostile attitude dropped our 400lb piece of Jade and cracked it then he managed to tell my husband that the cracks "were there". He became hostile, yelled at me and then stormed off and never helped to move the piano. Fire him! Then, although it was documented on the original paperwork from Alex, the guys scratched our safes because they did NOT bring the appropriate moving dollies, etc.. What the *** Who is reading (or not reading) these forms? Who is training these employees? There needs to be some SERIOUS training and customer service training. Putting the blame on us, the paying customer is the worse thing you can do. I will DEF. not use Bekins and let my sphere of influence know of my experience as well. WOW......one word - DEPLORABLE! What was suppose to be an approx. 7 hour moved turned into 11 hours. It was BEYOND frustrating! Don't use Bekins!

Terrible experience

We hired Bekins because we had to move across country. They came in as the lowest quote and now we know why. We had to leave towards the end of the day to sign papers on our house and when we got back the movers were gone. They left a large piece of glass from a sofa table. They left our fridge in the garage. All of my outdoor BirdFeeders, Large oversized pots that are VERY expensive. Tools, Shovels, the list goes on and on. We called the company and they basically said too bad so sad. We tried to say we would not pay unless they compensated us for the items that we had to leave behind but they said no and if you don't pay full price you wont see any of your things. They are crooks. DO NOT hire them! Yes they were the lowest bid but it ended up costing us WAY more in the end.

Worst moving company

If I could give them zero stars I would, this company is the WORST & I mean the WORST!!!! It’s starts with their sales team- a gentleman by the name of Kirk (& yes I have his business card still if you want his info) came out & gave us an in home quote. He stated that he had been doing this for years & based off the 1 bedroom apartment my husband & I had in Las Vegas he quoted us $1,800 total, 13 day or less window from time of pick up to delivery. Sounded great. Went over the contract & signed our lives away. After that it became a hassle to get ahold of Kirk with our questions, he did not respond to emails or phone calls. When he finally did his attitude was always that of us being a bother - even though we are the customer. I have it quoted also Kirk stated I would be able to call the home Bekins office 48 hours after pickup to obtain weight & cost, and an estimated date of delivery. Pick up day arrived - 2 older guys showed up who were “sub contracted” to pick up our belongings. I am positive they were on drugs of some kind. I called in 48 hours later to obtain the promised weight, price & estimated delivery. The nightmare begins here! A guy named Devon answered the phone quite rudely & said: I don’t know let me place you on hold & check out. I was placed on hold for 20 minutes. Upon return to the call Devon stated he couldn’t reach the driver & get the info but would call me back in an hour. I thought this was strange: why would the driver have the info? Shouldn’t it also be in our file at the office??? Needless to say I never received a call back. This happened every day. Finally Devon stated we would receive our stuff on the 17th, unfortunately we got stuck on the road due to car trouble so my dad drove 9 hours to our new apartment to wait for the movers to show up. Guess what?! The movers NEVER showed. I called back & each day Devon promised it would be there that day or the next, but it never arrived. Finally my husband got on the phone & asked for a manager- after much ado he spoke to a guy by the name of Jeff. Jeff at first was helpful & apologetic. But then the nightmare began again. He said our stuff was still sitting in the warehouse in Vegas, had not been weighed or prepared for shipment!!! (It has now been 2 weeks!!) Jeff promised he would “rush” our shipment & get it to us in 3 days. Biggest joke ever. Our stuff arrived almost 4 weeks AFTER it was picked up!!!! We slept on the floor, had no plates/utensils, next to no clothes... it was a nightmare. Oh! And both my husband & I were starting new jobs which we needed our work clothes for. Jeff, Kirk, Devon & the rest of the staff there did not even care what we were going through or that when our stuff finally did arrive it was severely damaged!!! And they significantly over charged us: $2,600 plus tax. I work in customer service - it doesn’t matter if you have a wealthy client or not... a customer is a customer. They should be treated with respect and kindness. If a moving company is moving 1 thing or a 100 the customer should still be cared for with the same respect. These are our belongings- our whole life!!!!! ON top of it all no one had the correct address for delivery even though I gave it to every one I spoke with. This is the worst company ever!!! Sorry Allied we should have gone with you. & we only went with movers because we were moving Cross county & thought it would be easier to have someone drive the truck. Instead it cost us more money and stress. Do NOT use them, you will be sorry.

Aggressive, Dangerous Driver...Be Warned!

Tonight on November 30, 2016 I had an incident with the driver of a Bekins truck. He came out of nowhere behind me on the highway and started driving in a very unsafe, aggressive way. He was flashing his lights at me and tailgating my car. I couldn't move out of his path because there was a blind spot in my mirror and I couldn't switch lanes. Instead of simply going around me as any normal person would do, he continued to follow my car very closely to the point where I thought he would hit me. Then he finally swerved around me, nearly running me off the road, and blew his horn at me. Unfortunately I couldn't make out the license plate because he was driving way beyond the speed limit (this is in the Kendall area of Miami). I am still shaken by this incident; there was also a small child in the car with me. Anyway, I just want to give a heads up to Bekins about this incident...maybe tell your drivers to be a bit more careful and considerate of others on the road? This is unacceptable. I only wish I could have seen the license plate so I could file a report about this driver's conduct. This employee clearly has some road rage issues and should NOT be operating a company vehicle.

BEWARE OF BEKINS

BEWARE OF BEKINS VAN LINES I hired Bekins for a move from CA to WA, During the transport of my shipment, at least 50% of my items were damaged severely, lost and I will go as far to say, there is clear evidence that they were tampered with and pilfered through. While an interstate move can be stressful alone, you would hope that you have retained the services of a reputable company. BEKINS or WHEATON, is NOT one of them! They are less than professional, have no obvious training of Customer Service and will offer you NO "FAIR" options when seeking clarity or assistance (beyond their initial baiting of course). The Director of their Claims Department, Laura Pung actually offers her unique and creative skills in claims handling and Mentoring with a power-point presentation on the internet that actually states "Claims 101: Sorry, but there's nothing in your policy about fair. A fair is where you take a pig to win a prize". Nice... I still can't believe that Bekins / Wheaton finds this an acceptable presentation or practice, even after such was brought to their attention. You can look-up this presentation on the internet yourself under Laura Pung, Claim Creativity... whereby it states "WARNING, Claims Adjuster with an Attitude" (no doubt) and "World's Greatest Claims Adjuster", what a typical God like syndrome! ? Welcome to Laura Pung’s few minute of fame and self-admitted BAD FAITH instruction! http://slideplayer.com/slide/612****/ My losses and damages are as a direct result of Bekins GROSS NEGLIGENCE. The last thing that anyone would expect is to deal with a claims department that doesn't regard FAIR in their BUSINESS PRACTICES, based on their own admission! It is my understanding that an Adjuster is required to display "DISCERNMENT", which is a balance of contract enforcement and customers satisfaction. A claim representative has a duty, in good faith, to investigate and resolve claims promptly and "FAIRLY" for an insurer and claimant, not seek ways to deceive or deny provisional coverage in an effort to mitigate their exposures. This is a violation of their FIDUCIARY DUTY! Bekins has you sign a different Bill of Lading than the one that is listed in their Tariff. BE AWARE, this offers them alternative ways to avoid their liability, it places it "AT THEIR OPTION", not yours as advertised. Bekins will place your shipment in a storage/warehouse and not advise you, as well as lie to you about it when asking where your shipment is in route. When you ask for specific information on these facilities, such will take months to obtain, if all! They use subcontractors (according to the FMSCA they have a fleet of 1 under their DOT number). They do not tell you that subcontractors will be used, nor will they provide you their information or DOT numbers when asked, despite it is required of them to provide under their own Tariff. They will refuse you their damage report(s), form(s), operational procedure(s) and investigation information stating that these are all internal documents and a "Breach of Privacy"... for who? Their movers, their warehouse, their sub-contractors, their Agents...? This is actually a Breach of clear entitled disclosure and their Fiduciary Duty by way of Bekins denial and actions! This information is to be supplied based on their own Tariff and by the FMSCA and the Federal Department of Transportation, and when requested, cannot be denied… but is! I have lost personal belongings and thousand based on having my items transported by this company. I have gone directly to the VP of Claims, John Weissert and the CEO Mark Kirschner that will not even give you the courtesy of an explanation or review of your loss or terrible experience in an effort to rectify such, even when you provide proofs and specific inquiries. I have found BEKINS is unreliable or trustworthy. They advertise "Trust goes a long way". BEKINS IS A SCAM company and you should not trust their services. You can search all over the internet in regards to numerous complaints of their SHANTY DECEPTIVE business dealings. You can find many lawsuits as well, fortunately LOST by Bekins for exactly these reasons. Please do not be fooled, they go under many names, they are partnered with Wheaton as well. BEWARE OF BEKINS, you may experience the same as I have. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone!!! Shame on you BEKINS VAN LINES !!!!

Bekins Moving And Storage - Moving Service Review from Lynchburg, Virginia

I hired this moving company for residential move. They sent out a gentleman for a moving quote who seem to be nice and respectable which is why I hired them. On the day of the move three gentlemen came to my home to pick up my boxes. They smoked multiple cigarettes during the job and just complained about how bad their job was they did not wrap the furniture appropriately nor did they stack boxes the right way. This should have been my first clue and I should have asked them to take my boxes off the truck and leave. When my items arrived at my new place the next day my furniture was destroyed. Items were broken including the bedroom set, chests and drawers also the dining room table which had broken legs and chips .. the man insisted that the items came this way prior to their arrival.. which was obviously a lie. The items are brand new. I called the company to file a complaint, 2 gentleman by the names of Rick and Rich both spoke to me in a disrespectful manner shouted and yelled. I called their corporate office in hopes of being able to file a claim which I'm currently going through. Doesn't seem like they're that attentive. Hopefully I'll have some luck with repairing the damaged items which their company did. I do not recommend using this company if you are in the market for a moving team. STAY AWAY 100% Bekins destroyed my items. There's no doubt.

Bekins Moving And Storage - Moving Service Review from Waxahachie, Texas

My husband and I used Bekin Movers on April 9, 2015 to load and move our belongings. We moved from Cedar Hill TX, to Waxahachie, TX, a distance of 22 miles. We could see problems almost immediately, in that there did not appear to be any cohesion in getting the job done. The group lacked professionalism. We watched the female in the group try to drag our grill through the grass rather than the walkway. One of the guys had to get it to the truck, however, the handle was broken off during this fiasco. We were moving out of a high end home and we had GOOD, well cared for belongings. When the job was finally finished at our destination we showed them the dents in the bottom half of our stainless fridge. They said, " oh, they could not have done that". Well, it sure wasn't there before they handled it. We were comforted in knowing we had purchased insurance on the move. We filed a report with the company right away. That was April, our fridge is still dented and we haven't been able to use our grill since we moved. The company told us it would be settled within 90 days. You do the math, it is now Nov 15. A shoddy company that has NO customer service

I would never use this company again

We retained Bekins to pack our belongings and move them from Long Island, NY to Florida. They arrived fairly on time and seemed courteous during the process. They packed our belongings, numbered boxes with small stickers, put them in the truck and left. We received our belongings in Florida about 9 days later from a different crew. This was expected since they told us that they needed to transport us from a smaller truck to a larger one for the trip to Florida. We had to pay extra for this. We also paid extra because they "underestimated" the number of boxes they would need for the packing. When we opened our belongings we were shocked to find that much of our valuable belongings were missing, even though many of these items were next to or in the same drawers as items we actually received. We contacted Bekins and were told that they already knew of one box that we didn't get because another client had contacted them to report that they had an extra box. Why they didn't contact us when they found out over 24 hours earlier about this is a mystery to me. We eventually received this box in extremely damaged and crushed condition (2 weeks later). Meanwhile, there is no response as to where our other merchandise is. They want 30 more days to contact the other people that they moved a month ago. Good luck with that. Among the missing items are: 16 expensive crystal goblets, expensive fine china, jewelry box with assorted jewelry, wife's passport, remote control for dyson fan, a laser level, teak wood kitchen utensil holder, assorted serving spoons and fork, expensive water systems for racing bikes, sterling silver cross pencil, expensive (new) hiking boots, several bottles of wine, and the list goes on. All of these items were in different locations in our apartment and most of them were in the same drawers and cabinets that contained items that we actually received. Hmmmnnn... Then we finally get to the part where they damaged our belongings. They crushed two poles lamps, ripped the padding off our total gym and broke the base of our 37 inch Sony flat panel HD TV. You be the judge as to whether you would want to use a company that makes what I would consider to be minimal attempts at correcting problems they create, but are quick to charge you extra for their services. I will update this negative review and post less negative comments if they actually remedy the problem.

Similar complaint. Never use this company!

We too used this company to move 3 rooms of office furniture. Their estimate was reasonable so we hired them. In the end we paid 3 times the estimate because the movers were unprofessional and untrained. Only two movers originally arrived and they took almost 2 hours to get orgainzed. Two was less than the 3 that had been estimated and these two were unqualified. They damaged the furniture as well as the building interiors at both locations. They arrived late, lacked organizational abilities and squabbled among themselves when they were not on their cell phones. What should have been a several hour job took 2 days and 3 new workers were dispatched the next day. When we complained to the company they were slow to respond and made token refunds of less than $200 on a bill of almost $1,400 which was way above the $384 estimate. Save yourself the anguish, avoid this company at all costs.
