Personnel

Although I initially the Vet ass't was very pleasant, I knew I was wrong the morning I showed up after my pets surgery. I was the first to arrive 15 minutes early to my appt. I called from the parking lot as requested on the sign. She was clearly in a bad mood. After over an hour of waiting, and working to get my pupback in the car she arrived as we were living. I can understand delays in later afternoon appts, but the first appt of the day... Dr. Sones called later that afternoon and asked what happened. I relayed the information, at which point he stated he didn't believe me. Two terrible events in one day do not add up to compassion. Unfortunately....I am hoping for more oncological vets the central east coast of FL.

Misdiagnosed and Careless Exam

Years ago, the Animal Cancer Care Clinic helped me a great deal with my dog Madison. Their level of care and attention, and that of their support staff, was remarkable. Unfortunately, my recent experience at the clinic was the exact opposite. The level of care given to my dog, Winnie, by Dr. Ashlyn Williams failed in every way imaginable - a failure that reeks of carelessness at best. Not only was Winnie not examined properly, she was also misdiagnosed. When I emailed the office about the entire situation, I never received any sort of follow up. At the very least, the $1,250+ spent at the clinic was a complete waste. At worst - I lost valuable time with Winnie... To top it off, they didnt even care to get in touch with me once I got in touch with them confirming what I suspected - that the examinations (2 visits) and services we received were unprofessional, grossly inadequate, and neglectful. I suggest you strongly reconsider taking your pet to the animal cancer care clinic. Instead, look for a smaller oncology specialist who will actually take the time to give you and your pet the care and attention deserved. Update 12/17/2020: The company tag line touting HOPE, CARE, and Optimal Outcomes could not be more hypocritical. It reads like cheap corporate fodder meant to curate an image of a caring culture. However, without accountability, management, customer service, or oversight - the only relentless pursuit occurring is to secure money and shield liability. Its the only explanation I can come up with for not receiving any sort of response to my emails, deleted comments (keeping their image spotless), or reviews. I, again, urge you to reconsider taking your beloved pet to the Animal Cancer Care Clinic. Instead, take your pet and your business to someone who will actually give you Care and Hope and Optimal Results - because you wont find these here...

Neglected my dog towards the end of her carr

On 8/14/18, we had to put our sweet Kahlua to sleep due to Squamous Cell Carcinoma in her mouth. 9 months prior, she was diagnosed and immediately was placed under radiation treatment. I will give credit where credit is due as their staff Is very pleasant considering the doctor is a bit on the dry side. Kahlua went into remission and things were going pretty well. Kahlua ended up dying due to severe necrosis (dying tissue) in her mouth. Let me add in here that i took her to Animal Cancer Care Clinic on 8/5 because Kahlua felt warm and wasn’t eating. They pumped her fluids, anti nausea meds and ulcer meds since she was on an NSAID that potentially caused ulcers. The off hour Vet was nice and staff very caring. They took photos of Kahluas mouth to show the doctor. I received no call from the doctor about what he saw and if i should move her follow up appointment to earlier. I called during the week and they told me I had the options but pushed it off stating “it’s up to you, you know your dog” as if i was a professional with her condition. It wasn’t appreciated. My regular vet seems to think she may have been exposed to too much radiation as it also killed healthy tissue, leaving her jaw like an eggshell. Kahlua ended up breaking her jaw at home and we had to put her down immediately, as we didn’t want her to suffer. I received a condolences phone call a day later from a nurse I had never met. That’s all she wrote. Approximately $10,000 to save our little girl. And we sit here and wonder if we did the right thing considering we didn’t have a lot of information. Just quick to get the treatment started. I write this because anyone that comes here needs to bombard the doctor and staff with questions. We felt a bit led on that she was better than she actually was. Kahlua died with a broken jaw, 105 fever, and muscle atrophy in her face and skull. My regular vet was mortified. If this experience changes the way vets refer out their animals for radiation treatment (as I cannot speak about any other treatment) I’ll take Kahlua’s experience as a gift to spare animals behind her. In hindsight, we should have been told our options, prognosis, and potential good and bad outcomes. We rather one month of a normal dog rather than 6 months of struggle. So please everyone, really do your research regarding what is best for your pet. They neglected her.

Our dog Ishtar is dead because of their negligence....RUN!

Tragic Update 4-27-18! The dog of my mom is now DEAD! THEY KILLED HER after all the complications and rapid decline in health since taking our dear Ishtar (yprkie) to Animal cancer "careless" clinic not only she was paralized , the same night after the meds and iv they did on her, she ended up with seizures and a blood cloth and thanks to them and the way they treat you like *** and punish you if you complain and ask to see a competent dr., when i asked to see another doctor asap since this was an emergency and their dr. *** up big time ..... They should of cared and try to fix the damage the inept dr. TANYA GUSTAFSON caused so much damage that lead to Ishtars death in pain and right after! Its not a coincidence. We saw an awesome oncologist in NY that gave her a year if cancer left untreated and the worst they couldn't care less. They're probably laughing on the way to the bank right now with their super high pricess and arrogant actitudes. Hope karma pays them a visit! so heartbreaking and then they wash their dirty hands with the super inhumane manager sherry, ohhh yes just wait for their lies, excuses and response after this comment, because they can't deal with the truth of the results of their incopetence and inhumanity! please save some heartbreake and keep your dogs safe and alive take them to someone with real knowledge that cares, knows and someone that if you have a problem will respond and treat you kindly after all you have enough to worry with the cancer without they treating you like garbage after they chrge. Do you want to hear you're now disabled pet is not welcome there. because they know they caused it and want to avoid looking a your eyes, they're all about money! you guys should have a heart and have a conscience. i'm forced to put a one star due that i can't put a BELOW CERO JUST TO LEAVE THIS REVIEW AND HELP OTHERS CHOOSE WISELY A COMPETENT DOCTOR WITH CARING STAFF. WISH I WOULD OF READ THE REVIEWS BEFORE. NOW YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. BLESSINGS! here's my moms true story: " i'm so upset about the way dr Tanya gustafson treated my mom's dog ishtar, I went with her to the consult and she hadn't even seen the reports or x-rays when i asked her about it, she said she hadn't gotten it when the girls in the office lobby confirmed they did. She didn't even bother to do her job and see ishtars medical report and history when she came in she didn't even see the tests and xrays that were sent to her. so cold and lack of interest in my dog she did a bone iv med on my dog my daughter and i asked her if there were side effects she replied none at all, that night my dog had a brain stroke and seizures and i found out the next day through an emergency consult with the dog neurologist check up next morning that her left brain was damaged as her back right leg!!!" update 4/23/18 i got a call today from the clinics "Inhumane, uncaring and uncompassionate supervisor sherry" saying that my dog is not welcomed there anymore!!! plus of course thet denied it was their fault i do have a written report from the neurologist where the treatment caused her a seizure /stroke ending in a paralysis that same day they administered the treatment there ! Theres no coincidence there when I google side effects were all listed there but dr. Gustafson with her lack of interest or education said there was not a side effect, when we urged her twice if she was sure. Maybe she should consult with google or go back to school before treating, disabling and killing already sick patients. Please don't risk your loving pet with this irresponsible vet group that won't respond to you, all they want is the money! The dont give a damn about your pet. You'll be gambling the life of your baby. We lost big time, wish we would of know then what we learned now. I wouldn't mind paying the super high prices they charge if only they knew what they were doing or at least cared a little, don't waste your money and avoid heartache by risk your doggies life. They'll mess up and not even try to help. Find a good caring doctor in a good responsible and humane animal hospital.... ... This Clinic has nothing as far as good manners to patients, kindness, knowledge or compassion!

Animal Cancer Care Clinic Pet Medical Service Review from Mount Laurel, New Jersey

My pet had surgery at the Fort Lauderdale location throughout the process it was very expensive but people were flexible and understanding. She came out well and has since been doing a bit better. Prior to the surgery though they took a biopsy and told me exactly what I was looking at in cost of follow up care if I decided to go through with the surgery. The doctor stated that for a mid level treatment (not Classic IV chemo, but a pill) it would range 100-150 for a pet of her size. Fast forward to after the surgery the "oncologist" quoted double!!! If I had know that I don't know that I would have put her through the pain of surgery knowing I couldn't afford the follow-up care. I walked away in shock and now they're judging me for not getting her care at all. I even asked if there was a compromise like maybe a step down in treatment to make things more affordable and the nurse said you may as well not do anything. I'm very frustrated and hurt by the latter half of this experience.

Dr Weinstein bad news

Dr Weinstein bullied me into a procedure that should not have been done. My dogs cancer had progressed too far for any help but Dr Weinstein kept going on and on when I was at my weakest due to my beloved dog fighting for a year with cancer so I said yes since I wanted to do anything possible for my baby. He knew the operation would not help but he just wanted the money!! They should be ashamed of themselves. I too was wrong for trusting them. So many people have complained and he is still there. What a good salesman. Dr Weinstein is bad news!!!!

My dog had to have her Paw Amputated Because of Their Negligence

I took our perfectly healthy dog in to have a growth removed on her paw. The bandage was too tight and cut off circulation at her ankle. They didn't have me come back for a week after the surgery to check anything after charging me $2500. Her paw had to be amputated. They do not know what they are doing and they do not have the facilities to provide adequate wound care. AVOID THEM IF YOU LOVE YOUR PET! They will tell you what great care they give but it is all about the money. They should have had us come back the next day to check the bandage. Instead they just let her lose her paw. It was totally preventable. We are going to sue them.

Animal Cancer Care Clinic lacks veterinary expertise and sensitivity towards the death of our beloved companios (DIXIE)

We are extremely disappointment towards this Clinic because of its lack of veterinary expertise and sensitivity towards the death of our beloved Dixie. On 12/26/12 Dr. Armando Villamil, saw Dixie for Lymphoma cancer. Dr. Villamil stated that if Dixie underwent chemotherapy her life expectancy would be up to eight (8) months. Since we love our Dixie very much and in the hopes to have her stay with us longer, we started the treatment right away, regardless of the cost. After our first visit Dixie started to display hyperactivity – which was wonderful, however, we were concern of her getting injured (as Dixie suffered from arthritis in her hips). On 1/5/12, Dixie was seen by Dr. Evan Sones. Although, we explain to Dr. Sones our satisfaction to know that Dixie was very happy. We also addressed our concern regarding her getting injured and asked Dr. Sones to prescribe to Dixie something to slow her down. Dr. Sones prescribed Dixie Acepromazine. Dr. Sones did not warn us of any side effects and/or repercussions if Dixie were to take this medicine along with chemo treatment. Dr. Sones did not warn and/or advise us on this medicine. After Dixie’s second treatment we arrived home and once again she was hyperactive (which we loved about her but we continued to be concern about her getting injured). As a result of we gave Dixie the medicine above-referenced and she dramatically started to slow down, out of concern we called the Clinic and were advised (by nurse on duty) that Dixie was heavily sedated, but that she will be fine. We continue to monitor Dixie and within the hour Dixie stop breathing completely. We called the Clinic once again and this time we were told to take Dixie to the Clinic immediately. Once we arrived to the Clinic Dr. Sage Umphries, check her vital signs and cruelly and with no sensitivity told us that she had passed away. As we seek for an explanation as to what had happened, Dr. Umphries emphasized that “Dixie die because she was old and because she had cancer.” If Dr. Umphries statement was true, then why was Dixie offered cancer treatment when her life expectancy was from one week to eight (8) months. This information was never explained to us nor that her chances of success were extremely low. Therefore, based on Dr. Umphries statement if Dixie was going to die anyway in such short period of time because of her cancer why was she offered treatment? Also, in accordance to a second opinion that we were able to seek after this incident, Dixie should not have been prescribed the above-referenced medicine as chemotherapy already debilitates her. A medical professional such as Dr. Sones should have known the consequences of prescribing this medicine while under chemotherapy.

Animal Cancer Care Clinic KILLED my bulldog.

My precious Bulldog was seen for chemotherapy by Dr. Dominguez. He gave him a chemotherapy drug I later learned was deadly in animals with kidney disease. My Bulldog was well known to have kidney disease and there was no mention of this when I had my consult. The Dr. barely talked to me and after days of him being in the hospital where he died alone. I never got a chance to say goodbye. He died in pain and alone and all because this Dr. didn't know or didn't care about the risk. I was told later by my NEW vet that there were other safer drugs that he could have used and Sammy would still be with me and our family. The sadness and anger are with us every day. Not only did he die in pain and alone BUT it was a MISTAKE and preventable!!
