Stay Away From Them
I applied to Ampa Events many years ago as I got laid off of my last tech job. My ex-coworkers my former employer at the time (whose name I won't mention out of respect) talked all sorts of trash about them. Well, with the interview that I had along with what they said, they were correct. When I did the over the phone interview with their art director, Cyril Suaris, the guy wasn't a gentleman. He was very unprofessional in asking me certain questions and in general. For example, when he asked me how to make sure that a frame is square (even), I told him many different ways to check. Then he said that there are more ways and to ask my former boss (before I got laid off) and to give him a call back. Then he gave me a nasty attitude about the position that I applied for making it look like it was my fault that the job post didn't get taken off of www.backstagejobs.com. After the interview, he called me offering a different position and I simply declined. I know the difference between a stress interview and someone with a social problem. If Cyril Suaris mistreated me during an over the phone interview, I can only imagine what the rest of the staff is like. If I really wanted to work with people that were fried in the brain, I'd apply to be a corrections officer or for a position in an insane asylum. Not an event company.

Misogynist *** of an owner
Every negative comment that has ever been said about the misogynistic, out-dated, egotistical owner of Ampa Events, Ted Rubis, are the truest things you can read on the internet. The only positive review you can read here was coincidentally written by his own office manager. He is happy to take advantage of people while claiming to be a Christian man. His most loyal employees are treated to the highest levels of disrespect. It is unfortunate that Ted Rubis continues to do business.

WORST COMPANY
If you are thinking about working for Ampa Events, think again. They lie to get you in the door, then flip the tables on you. The owner screams, lies, verbally abuses his employees. I have no clue how they stay in business. I ruined my contacts by working there because NO VENDOR wanted to do business there. The place has the worst reputation, but he owner has the biggest ego, and ego that makes NO ONE want to work for him, with him or around him. The constant verbal abuse of the employees, vendors and clients is unreal. I have never seen a company run this way.

Ampa Events did an amazing job
I'm leaving a review because I read the other negative reviews about Ampa Events and I totally disagree. They did an amazing job helping me with a party. They gave me great customer service, design, products, lighting, installation, and pricing. The owner and staff were so nice. They worked with us to make sure that we got everything we wanted. The set up staff were professional and made sure we were all set once they were done. They arrived again the next morning, right on time, to take everything down. Everyone loved the decor and lighting. We had a wonderful time. Thank you Ampa for making our party a success.

Overcharges clients and lying
This is th most unethical company I have ever been involved with. AMPA CHARGES clients for things that are not even done. LABOR cost are way over estimated and the equipment is junk and the owner treats employees and clients like dogs. Stay far far away from this company they will overcharge and sulley your event. If you are a state funded school or university it is standard practice to charge extra. Thank you ampa for screwing th tax payers of Virginia for your own gain. The owner is a complete know it all and should not be in business period. Use any other event company.

AMPA events has AWFUL service!
We booked Ampa Events, Richmond Virginia, about six month's in advance of our son's Bar Mitzvah. As we entered the party, about an hour before the start time, we discovered that the company decided to send completely different decorations than those we ordered. The on-site planner was fabulous, but didn't know that the company didn't even own the equipment that was sold to us months before by a salesperson who had left the company. It was too late to hire another company. The owner of the company refused to answer any of our phone calls or emails then overcharged us!
