Tank removal 4 to 8 weeks.

Cancelled my account was told 4 to 8 weeks for tank to be removed. There is still 80 or so gallons in the tank. We are to be refunded money for the gas the tank. So we have to wait on them to get our money, but when you order from them you have to pay in advance. Customer service has sucked since we have been with them. Their price is 80 cents more than our new company and tank rental is 30 dollars more. Suppose to be the biggest gas company in the US. I do not see how.

Complete lack of Customer Service

Anyone considering Amerigas should run as fast and as far away as you possibly can! Amerigas bought the local company with which we originally signed up. Since then, we've had nothing but problems. We tried multiple times to get pricing for connecting a dual fuel generator to the 500 gallon tank we have at our lake property. I made FIVE phone calls before giving up. Twice I was told that they do not connect "appliances" (a generator is NOT an appliance!). The other times I got an estimate, but they varied from $249.99 to nearly $650. When I complained about this to the last "Customer Experience Advocate", he hung up on me! Next, they tried to charge us a rental fee even though the only contract we'd signed had none. Every single experience with someone at their off-shore call center has been negative. Every. Single. One.

Resolved: 15 days of no propane - will not fix tank in timely manner

Updated by user May 30, 2023

Apology, discount, refund of service fee.

Original review May 30, 2023
Amerigas is the worst company I've ever dealt with when it comes to utilities. While every call with their godforsaken call center assures me I'm a "valued customer," I haven't had propane since May 12. Every time someone has come to repair or refill, it takes 3-4 days, and I still don't have working gas. When our hot water and gas stove stopped working, I paid for expedited service for them to refill the tank, which I didn't get. When I finally got them to show up, on May 16, I was told to schedule a repair. It was scheduled for May 22. They didn't show up. They "fixed" the tank on May 24, but couldn't refill it until today, May 27. Today, the deliveryman couldn't get the gas to work, despite trying for an hour. He put in a service request and I called. Soonest they can come is June 1. Every time I call they "escalate" my request and "expedite" what they can, and they still come at the very last moment. My gas delivery could have come 3 days ago if it had actually been expedited, and this problem would have been found sooner, but nope, that's not the way they operate. I didn't even know a temporary tank was a possibility until I started calling around for new service, and another company suggested it. I asked Amerigas customer service if they could bring one, and from what I can tell, even if they could, they still wouldn't be able to do it before my next appointment. Why? No idea. At this point I'm trying to saturate the Internet with as many bad reviews as I can. I have small kids and don't have any hot water, can't do dishes or laundry, and we're heating water in the microwave to bathe. I can't wait to switch companies. I won't be happy until there's either a class action lawsuit or they go out of business. Absolutely the worst company I've ever worked with. Update: after emailing people higher up in corporate, my tank was fixed and I now have hot water. Apparently if you rattle enough cages, issues will get fixed!

Beware

No reply!! Still No Refund For Propane They Took??

Original review May 27, 2023
Beware of this company! Amerigas charred me $217.00 to come out and look at the tanks and did absolutely nothing. Then they charged me $139.00 to remove their tanks. Amergas also will not credit me for the 30% of propane they took when tanks were removed. Been waiting for 5 months for credit but they bill me each month with a late charge. $400.00 plus billed and not one gallon of propane received. Pricing is crazy. Amerigas wanted $4.60 a gallon for my garage, my new service charged me $245.00 a gallon. Customer service is in the Philippines and have no clue what they are talking about!! Stay Away!!

Pay bill

They filled tank not on my account and continue to bill me for it. They are giving me bad credit for their mistake.

Original review Apr 27, 2023
It took over an hour to get anyone on the phone. You cant understand them and they dont know the nuances of English. I was told my bill was 800., 1100, and then 1843.00. They are a terrible company to do business with. They have filled the wrong rank and then billed me for my neighbors tank. You cannot resolve issue because the customer service rep doesnt understand English. I am trying to get any other propane service but theirs. You cant speak to anyone in America. Total frustration and now I am getting bad credit because they cant get run their business.

Resolved: Unfair and harassing business practices

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with full refund. Based on the feedback and reviews on this site and others and a complaint filed with BBB the company reached out and refunded it.

My Dad had an account with Amerigas propane for an outside tank. When he died, I became owner of the home where the tank was. I told Amerigas this but they left the account in his name and never did a new contract for me. 2 years ago, the tank started leaking. You could smell propane anywhere within 15 feet of the tank. Amerigas said they would inspect it. No one ever came or contacted me. Last year, I did not fill the tank since it was unsafe to do so with it leaking. They sent me a bill for not filling it up. I did not feel like messing with it so I just paid it. This year, they sent me another bill for not filling it. I contacted them and told them again it was leaking. They said they would only replace it if I was there, I explained it is an outdoor tank and there is nothing in the home leaking. No gas can be smelled inside. Just outside around the tank. I advised I could not take a day off from work for that and asked that they please replace the leaking tank for a working one. They refused. Their rep said she would waive the refill fee though and that she could have the leaking tank removed. I said I was not going to fill up a leaking tank. If they wanted to remove it, that was their choice. She did waive the fee. They came a couple days later and removed the tank. I nor anyone else was there. Apparently they have no problem unscrewing a hose and removing a tank all on their own, but they cannot place a new tank down and screw the hose in unless someone is there watching them and applauding I guess. A month later, I receive a new bill for removal of the tank. I contacted them multiple times since and they will not assist me. They just send new bills with late fees. I refuse to pay them. They chose to remove the tank. They are still sending invoices to my dad who has been deceased now for 15 years. This is unfair business practices. My choices were to either fill a leaky tank and risk blowing up my house, pay a fine for not filling up the tank or pay a fee for removing a tank? Their rep never disclosed there was a fee for the removal. Also I contacted them today online requesting a way to contact their executive offices since none of their reps were willing to assist and their representative told me they had no address or email or anyway for anyone to contact any of their executive officers. He said he could have someone contact me. I asked if it would be someone from their executive office to which he said no it would just be another rep which would be totally pointless. They could have replaced the tank and kept charging me $500 - $900 to fill it up every year. Instead they are trying to fee me to death because they chose to remove the tank? It is unfair, ridiculous and causing me stress. Not to mention they continue to send me bills in my father's name even though he has been dead for 15 years.

Absolute worst

I would give this company zero stars if I could. We have had TERRIBLE customer service, TERRIBLE billing, TERRIBLE in every way. They try to add fees to your account, they won't answer where the fees are coming from and they will continue to hang up on you if you press them for information.

I Paid for Propane delivery but never recieved the propane to my tank

I ordered the propane on April 7th,2023, We ask them not to take the payment until they filled the tank as it may take a 1000 gallons which they agreed too. Amerigas said there would be a inspection of our propane tank but would not charge us but now they want to charge us for the promised free inspection and have kept changing the date of the inspection and the company went and took out the money from our account $1460.00 but we still do not have our propane nor will anyone at Amerigas allow us the phone number to their Corporate office to complain. We feel as though Amerigas just made off with our money and we get no were calling them.I recommend

Still trying to pay bill — Mayvee and Evan saved you all

We are 100% disabled veterans of 4 wars and have traditionally had tank rental waived but you must (doubtfully) as broke as we are so not the last times I begged. We tried to pay bill (husband wants to know what hes paying by line item) on phone. Unable they said the email was changed but, alas no. Late charges and etc no online acct as promised. Mayvee saved me as both of us have sketchy eyesight for tiny stuff. Promote the woman ASAP. She lives and works in shadow of active volcano. Task. Still positive as are all of Philippines. Thank God I got them vice US. What a pleasure.

David Gulezian Hello I would like to let you know of an awful experience I have had with AmeriGas and my vacation home. In the cold of the winter The cold temp went off in my vacation home. I drove to the house and found the heat off. I discovered the auto fill propane tank provided and service by your co was empty. I called to get the tank filled. Your rep said the tank was 1/3 full. I insisted it was empty. We went back and forth . I asked how he knew the tank was 1/3 full he replied the computer is telling him that. I assured him there was no computer reading the propane in my tank. I told him the gauge has been broken sense the tank was delivered years ago and AmeriGas said it would too much work to empty the tank and fix the gauge. He said he would send someone to fill it. I waited for hours. No one came. I called back and asked for a supervisor. The supervisor said it would be many days before it could get filled. I told him a amerigas truck just drove by . he said sorry. I bought electric heaters , shut the water off and returned to my home in Massachusetts. The following day I drove back to visit the laconia amerigas store on union ave that is listed on line to find the store was closed and out of businesss. But still advertising its location . ( sense then the internet says it closed) I once again called to say I am on automatic fill up and paid in full, they again said sorry. Several days, several days later I received a call telling me I had to be at my house in 20 min as a delivery was coming. I explained I dont live there and it would take 90 min to get there. The driver said he would call his boss but didnt think he could wait. He said the tank is empty so they need to get in the house to check for leaks. I called back and requested the tank be removed , I was told I need to pay for removal. I said NO WAY . I told my sad story , the lady researched and said she was sorry and under the circumstances there would be no charge to remove,. I drove back to the house to check on the house and found the driver had filled the tank and removed the pipes on the tank so I could not turn the gas on. I made many more calls requesting the tank be removed, each time being told it would be removed, I explained we had a project happening in the yard that would prevent the truck from accessing the tank for removal. The tank remained for 6 + months out of service with parts being removed by the delivery driver. I request to be compensated for my frozen dish washer and all time lost driving back and forth. Plus leaving the tank in my yard for months. * I am also being charged for gas which I did not and could not use as the pipes where removed from the tank that connects the tank to my house by the delivery driver. David Fyi I am told amerigas has left several people with no gas . I am also told people have dumped the tanks in your parking lot.

DELIVERY

Updated by user Mar 27, 2023
after 17 calls, still not resloved, keep getting transferred to another country to speak to a "supervisor". what kind of company in the USA has NO "supervisors" here? out of propane, no hot water and no heat

Original review Mar 23, 2023
I called about an email I received from amerigas for refill at 1.69 per gallon. I told them ferrelgas offered me 1.59 per gal. They said they would honor that price as well as no delivery fee. Got a text a couple of weeks later saying they could not locate my address, even tho they have delivered here before. Every time I call to resolve the issue I get someone on another country, who either hangs up on me, or wants to schedule a new delivery for 1.99 per gallon. i do NOT understand why i cannot speak to someone in the United States who understand plain English. I am almost out of propane and the issue is still not resolved.

Horrible company!

Amerigas is HORRIBLE! Emergency delivery does NOT mean they will deliver in 24 to 48 hours. This company does nor care if you have small children and pets to keep warm in the dead of winter- they will tell you they will be there by the end of the day, and no show. When you do your research, you will see this Amerigas company has nothing but bad reviews. Trust them. Amerigas should be out of business!

Resolved: Extremely poor customer service

Updated by user Jan 22, 2023

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with product or service ordered. I finally received the gas delivery after four more phone call.

We burned that gas and then changed over to another local gas company, who said they were changing out a lot of Amerigas' tanks. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT TO HAVE GAS SERVICE.

Original review Dec 23, 2022
In 2019 when I started service with Amerigas I talked to my local office and everything was just fine. On Nov 2022 I called for a gas delivery. The ONLY people you can talk to is a call center with people that you cannot understand. They delivered my gas to the wrong house and I had to finally talk to a supervisor to get it straightened out after many phone calls. So I had to order gas again. It has been over ten days and I still don't have my gas. They cannot tell me when it will be delivered as they cannot communicate with a local office either. The tank is down to seventeen percent and it is fifteen degrees outside. I will be changing companies as soon as possible.I am located in Gainesville, GA

They did not stand by their offer & got me to pay first and never did what they told me they would do. They basically ripped me off!

I have been an amerigas customer since 2018. I opened an account with them and have been paying for my tank rental and insurance for line guard with them ever since. I never got a first tank fill till today 11/25/2022 and was eligible for a first fill discount and a $250.00 visa rebate card. I received a postcard in the mail with the offer code 6H6-3HQ6. When I called the customer service center to find out how much I would save and to place my first order like it told me to do. The representative barely spoke English & did not seem to know what they were doing. This in itself was very frustrating, but when I explained to her that I had a postcard with the above details, she proceeded to tell me that once I placed the order and they came out to fill the tank, I was to call back and give that information. I also told her this was my first time getting a fill and was eligible for a discount. She told me that the best price she could give me was $2.75 per gallon. I asked her if that was with my discount & she said yes. Then she proceeded to ask for my debit card to process a payment in advance for $812.72 & I asked her what about the rebate for $250.00 & she said after they came out and filled up the tank to call back and they would process that. So today the truck showed up and they filled my tank with 247.3 Gallons & gave me a receipt. I then called them back & they told me that they could not process the rebate and that I had to create an online account and redeem it through there. So I set up an online account and verified my information and then went to the web address stated on the postcard which was amerigas.com/go/6H6-3HQ6 and followed the prompts. It took me through the procedure of ordering another fill, which I did not need since they just came today, but in this process I seen what I was supposed to be charged per gallon and it said I was supposed to get the rate of $1.92 per gallon for my first fill and after that it went up to like 2 dollars and some change, I forget what that amount was exactly but the first fill was only $1.92 per gallon and there was a place to enter the promo code for the rebate. I did not continue with the order since I already had just received my gas today. So I called back and explained all of this to them and I will tell you what, it was one of the most frustrating calls I have ever been on before! The speech barrier and deep accent was very frustrating. Every time I called and spoke to a different person, it was the same issue. These reps just could not understand what the problem was. Not only did I get overcharged, but what they told me to do next is why I am emailing you. They told me that I had to go to amerigasrebate.com and enter in my information there. I did this and the highest amount I could get was only $100.00 even though my postcard said $250.00. The claim number is XXXXX Now I was very upset with all of this and to be honest I don't know if I will continue being one of your customers. I looked for a different phone number to try and talk to a manager or a higher up so I could get my bill adjusted and the right amount for my rebate. I finally got a hold of a normal speaking english lady that after I explained everything to her she understood and looked into the problem. She told me that the reason why I did not get the correct price was because since my account is a few years old the computer automatically assumed that this was not the first time I got a fill. She told me what I had to do was call back Monday and she would adjust the bill and credit back my bank account. She also told me to go to your webpage and try to cancel the $100.00 rebate so I could get the right one for 250.00 but there was no place or way to cancel it, it just says pending. I hope you can make the adjustment and process the correct amount because it is what I am entitled to.
