Worst experience ever. They probably won't pay for even part your repair.

Updated by user Nov 13, 2022
We got a call from the company. They reviewed the case and decided they would cover the repair in the amount allowed, which was $500. I am very pleased with this.

Waste of time and money. AND there is a max of $500 (minus deductible) for Electric, plumbing and heating/AC. This means any repair needed...IF they cover it (and the wording is such they probably will not...especially with electrical) is $400. AND after you've spent hours on the phone. So my experience. A breaker to our stove kept tripping and we called the warranty company, opened a claim, and had an electrician come out. The electrician could verify that one of the wires was not getting full charge to the appliance which means somewhere in the line the wire was compromised. The fix is to run a new wire to the appliance. The warranty company REQUIRES the wall to be opened up and the exact area found where the wire is compromised. This could be 20 feet of drywall. THEN they will only pay to have that section of wire (If it is due to normal wear and tear) fixed. So if the wire is broken, cut by a staple holding it on the stud...IT's not covered. I asked what NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR is and the supervisor could not get me an answer other than...get this...what WE deem as normal wear and tear. So think about that. I asked if a wire heating up and cooling down due to normal use, and this action caused it to rub against the bracket that holds the wire in place causing *** in the sheathing and then the wire arcing...was this normal wear and tear...the supervisor said if they decided it was, but could not confirm if that was normal. So I ask you. are you willing to have 20 feet of drywall opened up, to find an issue in a 1 foot section of wire that happens to somehow be covered. Then they will only pay to fix the 1 foot of wire, not the drywall repair. AND the total will only be covered up to $500. JUST Awful.

Horrible service and company!

We paid for a 2 year home warranty with this company. They made us jump through hoops to file a claim. We followed all of the steps by finding our own contractor, having the contractor call them before service. We had the work done to our broken AC unit. Only to be told that they will not pay a cent. We bought our house one year ago and did not purchase the AC unit but because there was a manufacturer warranty, they will not pay!!! We then called the manufacturer who will not pay because the unit was not registered by the previous owner and we were told that we would have used their distributor for the AC part. We then call our paid home warranty company back to be told they will file another claim because they do not want their customers to jump through hoops when we have paid for a service! Then this morning to be called and told they will not pay a cent because their is a manufacturer warranty! Really what is the point in paying them almost 800.00 for a 2 year warranty when they do everything they can to make you jump through hoops and not pay you a cent. I do not recommend this company. Super sad!!! You pay them for a service that they do not provide.

Poor quality service from this scam of a company

I would suggest using a different company. As this company will work its hardest to not pay you on a claim. They have excuses for everything, and why they will not cover items. Would highly recommend finding a more reputable company. Fastest growing does not mean good! I am really sorry my Real Estate Agent suggested them!

Warn against purchase

I purchased an older home in Columbus Ga and the previous owner was required to purchase a home warranty policy before closing. This was done with this company, but long short, no one should purchase a plan (with any company) on an older home purchase, especially this company. I tried 4 times to try and get something repaired, even sending them a copy of the home inspection, but to no avail. Too many hoops to jump thru, and at least 2 companies would not do the work if they needed to deal with this company.

Recent experience with Americas Preferred Home Warranty

After purchasing a new home, we needed to access our America's Preferred Home Warranty Plan (APHP) for some repairs that did not surface during the inspection. The response time to our claim was immediate over the phone with absolutely no wait time and the directions provided were clear and easy to follow. The agents that we spoke with from AHW were professional and courteous and clear communicators. When the plumber arrived to make the repairs, APHP was easily accessible by phone to talk with him. The check for reimbursement came immediately, in less than a week. Overall, we had a great experience with APHW and glad that we insisted on having a warranty as part of our purchase package for the home.

Positive review

Theyre all very friendly, warm and welcoming. Anytime I had any questions somebody was there to answer my questions, they helped do my claim in a quick manner and also issued my reimbursement in a timely manner! Never had any issues!

Positive experience

While one claim regarding garage door was not covered, a previous claim on a hot water tank was, which was a big help. Customer service was prompt and professional. Recommended!

Very Unhappy

This "policy" was included as part of our home closing, and what an absolute joke it is! Won't cover anything if previous owners even touched it and will give you the bare minimum on any older systems or appliances. Not to mention the complete hassel it is to even have any work done..file a claim, have a contractor call before work, get an okay from them..so ridiculous!

Great service, renewed contract

When purchasing my home, we elected to have APHW just in case something should go wrong within our first year living in the house. We chose an additional pkg to cover our new pool. Within months of living in the new house, the pool pump went out. The claims process with APHW went amazingly smooth. A new pump was installed and payment was settled.

Warning

Read details carefully they don't cover much Do not purchase. Backed out on covering most of my items. Not worth the money or time.

Had a good experience with APHW last year so I just renewed

Original review Mar 11, 2021
I bought an older home just over a year ago and an APHW warranty was included as part of the purchase. APHW stands head and shoulders above previous home warranty companies I have used because APHW allows me to select any repair contractor of my choosing. In the past 12-months, I have had several systems in my home fail (roof leak, plumbing leak, toilet valves failed, HVAC system replacement, HVAC duct replacement, kitchen range failure & replacement). Each time, APHW has been there to assist me and pay for a portion of the repair or replacement. The warranty more than paid for itself and really helped me financially. Customer service staff have always been friendly and helpful when I need to file a claim, answering my questions and helping me to get the most out of my plan. Claims can be filed online and payment of my claim has always been prompt. APHW has a variety of plans, deductible amounts, and add-on riders so you only pay for what you need. I like APHW so much that I just renewed my coverage for the coming year. This year they have added a free benefit that pays cash-back on purchases made using gift cards at a wide variety of stores. I highly recommend APHW to anyone who is buying or selling a home, or anyone whose home is aging and would like some peace of mind regarding potential repairs.

Provide Feedback & Describe Experience

Excellent service. Easy claims process and worked quickly with the contracting company to approve the claim and submit for reimbursement.

Pleased with service

The staff at customer service center have been helpful and courteous. They have good response time with request. I love being able to pick my own contractor that I choose. They have several payment options for your contractors to be paid even paying them by their credit card over the phone if the contractor is registered with them. I usually choose reimbursement and haven't had any issues. The payment is sent by mail within a week. Great experience has been great Try it out it out.

Happy Customer

When I purchased my new home last year I carefully researched online reviews before choosing America's Preferred Home Warranty. During this previous year I filed 7 claims. Each claim was approved with a simple call from my selected repair person to APHW. It was never difficult to get through to them. Some of my repairs were done by large companies and others by individuals working for themselves. All claims were paid in a timely manner to the maximum coverage of each item. Overall I was paid 10x the cost of the repair.

Received and email

The user experience thus far has been absolutely horrible. The process APHW has set up does not respect contractor time nor mine. Very unhappy, will always recommend realtors, investors and homeowners in my sphere of influence to stay away from APHW. Not worth it. My experience as a customer is that there is no awareness at APHW of the homeowner customer experience or the inspecting contractor's experience. If it does improve or change, happy to re review :-)

Denial after denial - they pay for *nothing*

***update: just look at the company’s reply below. It explains things better than I can. Jeez.

**update: see the email screenshot below. What kind of company refuses to put in writing its reason for denying a claim? Scam.

Well guys, I really wish I knew PissedConsumer.com existed before I bought a home warranty. APHW was rated as the best home warranty by Consumer Advocate, etc (2019). All I can figure is that all the other companies must actually break into your house and rob you. That's the only way they could be any worse than APHW. I paid for their Supreme Home Warranty with all the add-ons, bells and whistles, and a $100 deductible. I've now filed two claims - plumbing and A/C - both of them straightforward and exactly what you buy a home warranty for. APHW denied both claims. Not a penny. And you can tell when they're speaking with the service technician that they're trying to figure out a way to not pay the claim. Most of the service personnel around here (Texas) refuse to deal with home warranties for this reason. Anyhow, one of the things I hate worst in this world is feeling like a fool. Unless you like that feeling, I'd think twice about home warranties in general. That said, if you're still going to purchase one, find another company. Any other company.
