Do not book with them!

I booked my vacation with AA vacation to Occidental xCaret in Mexico an All Inclusive based on the descriptions provided. 1) when I arrived, the transportation company (BD Experience) was no where to be found. I checked at their "desk" at the airport and no one was there. There was no one to meet me so I finally ended up taking a Taxi from the airport to the resort for $150. 2) Upon arrival at the resort, I had to pay another $10+ in taxes (Hello I booked an all inclusive and everything should have been included). 3) When I arrived, I was told that I could only dine at the "restaurants" 3 times during my stay - the rest of the time I had to go to the buffet. THIS WAS NOT DISCLOSED ANYWHERE IN MY RESERVATION, ON THEIR WEBSITE OR ANY OF THE DOCS THAT I RECEIVED.

Zero,customer service

Our initial booking with American Airlines vacations was from Phoenix to Dreams Villa Magna Puerto Vallarta. This booking as cancelled by American in August 22 and we wer offered either a cash refund or a transfer to Dreams /Secrets Bahia Mia which we agreed to . However at the same time i booked for my wife and Myself I also booked a 2 nd bookings for our guest who is elderly and we needed her room to be in the same hotel as us. . After 4 conversations with AA customer service it was agreed that they would put both our reservations at the Secrets side of the complex which is designated for adults only. Our reservations showed Dreams but in the body of the confirmation is states our rooms were in the Secrets preferred tower suits , However on arrival at our hotel which by the way is not even close to Puerto Vallarta but i. A very remote isolated area we were refused entrance into the Secrets tower . I requested the hotel contact AA which they did. Totally frustrated our AA service man said we don't guarantee room reservations . I told him politely this was ridiculous as their own confirmation showed exactly we were to have preferred rooms in the Secrets tower . With no resolve, we were transferred to a night AA vacations supervisor. She again reiterated they dint control room reservations. Totally frustrated, i transfered her to the hotel concierge, who tried to explain the error in the AA confirmation we had. In the end we were required to pay an additional $600 Us and the AA supervisor said we had ro do whatever as they could not help or change the booking as we previously agreed to between AA and myself What kind of BS is this we paid and were given written details on our flight and hotel rooms but due to AA vacations error in getting their booking details correctly implemented we were out $600. I will never flight this airline again and would highly recommend anyone booking their vacation packages with AA Vacations triple check what you were expecting to receive is factual

Travel Agents Have Zero Knowledge

I had an agent help me to rebook using travel credit from a cruise we had to cancel. When rebooking he rebooked us without the original "all inclusive" benefits. This resulted in a cheaper cost but he failed to let us know that none of the leftover amount would carry over and in fact told us we would receive as a future credit, which was not the case! I lost out on $1,400 in credit and THEN am left to pay for drink packages totaling over $3,000!! Don't wast your money on a travel agent, book direct. They were of zero value and in the end cost me a lot of money. Thanks American Cruises!!

Lost luggage

My granddaughter and myself had to book a flight due to a death in the family and on our way back home i was told there was no more room for carry-on bags and they took my bag and stated they did not have any tickets but that she would remember me and i did not receive my bag until one week shy of two months. The picture frame was broke, all my perfume bottles were broken and my nike slip ones were gone but all they wanted was receipts and then told me they were not repsonsible for my damaged items. Very disappointed as they were responsible once you lost my bags. worse experience ever, all the clothes her dead grandfather gave her were soaked in perfumes and they refused to make it right.

Ridiculous hold times

My daughter got a new job so i wanted to change our cruise dates. After 3 calls and over 6 hours total hold time, I go a rep who advised me my price would increase by about $500.00 in spite of the cruise line telling me it would be the same but I had to call AA. Wait times to get to a person to help are ridiculous. Todays 3 hour, 32 minute wait was supposedly waiting on a cruise line rep. I cancelled to book through the cruise line for less but lost cost of travel insurance and a $100 fee even though the cruise is next year.

Still getting the run-around from American Airlines Cruises.

Updated by user May 08, 2022
After a few more attempts, still getting the run around. Last communication from American Airlines said essentially “Stop contacting us.

We cannot help you.” No reason. Truly unbelievable.

Now have our state’s. Attorney General’s office looking into it.

Every single person I have communicated with has said the same thing: you need to call the 800 number and talk to whoever answers. So I tried 2 more times. The first time I sat on hold for 40 minutes and never got to talk to anyone. The second (first thing in the morning), I was on hold for 20 minutes and finally got a rep to whom I had to explain my situation over again. She said twice she didnt understand. After about 35 minutes of her going back and forth to a supervisor, I was told that she couldnt help me - I would have to call back (to the same 800 #) at another time. She said she could not give me the full name of a supervisor who might help - Its against company policy, she said. I am now extremely angry and disgusted. I believe they just want me to get discouraged and go away rather than press for what they promised. Truly horrible operation. No effort at all to resolve customer issues, let alone make the customer happy. Its not like I am asking for something I am not entitled to.

Problems with American Airlines Cruises booking

My husband and I booked a February 2022 cruise to Australia/New Zealand last April through American Airlines Cruises (AA Cruises). It was canceled due to Covid. The letter announcing the cancellation stated that one option we had was to rebook a similar cruise and the original pricing would be honored. We did so before the October 31 deadline they set, selecting a cruise that leaves January 2023. We had to do this by phone (no other option) after spending an inordinate time on hold. We were assured by the AA rep that the original pricing was in place and that both our deposit and the full amount we had paid for travel insurance was applied to the rebooking. However, the new booking was not displayed on the online passenger portal. Earlier this year I decided Id better check on it. It still was not displayed but when I called (another long wait time) I was assured that they had the rebooking information and gave me a new booking#. When I went online to review it, I saw that 1) the price was $2,000 more than the original cruise and 2) it said we had declined the travel insurance. In an effort to get this fixed, I have since spent countless hours on hold and have been bounced around form AA Cruises to Princess Cruises (who the cruise it with) to a company called World Travel, all with no results. Each says the other needs to handle the issue. American Airlines Customer Service, who I contacted out of desperation, insists that they do not have access to nor information for key people at AA Cruises. They keep telling me I have to call the main AA Cruise number but when I do, I am put on hold again and never get to speak to anyone. Using the chat feature, I have asked for the name and direct line of a supervisor who can help but get told the same thing I must call the main number and wait for whoever answers. They admit that wait times to get through are excessive. We do get calls from World Travel not to fix anything but to badger us for an extra $180 for the travel insurance (on top of the $385 we originally paid) and threatening to deny us the coverage if we do not pay right away!! Apparently, we need outside help!!
