Scam Collection Letter

Updated by user May 29, 2021
Received a letter from AICC dated May 3, 2021, claiming that eBay completed a review of the account and eBay believes that the account was fraudulently opened without my knowledge, and that eBay has informed AICC that they have taken the necessary steps to suspend the fraudulent account. AICC has ceased all collection activity and I am not responsible for the balance due.How many other people out there simply paid the bill they received from AICC thinking it was legitimate?

Original review Apr 27, 2021
Allied International Credit Corp., located in Richmond, Virginia, alleging that EBAY referred my account to them for collection of $127.44 owed on my account (the EBAY account number they referenced isnt even close to an actual EBAY account number). I contacted EBAY customer service, and they verified that I do not owe EBAY ANYTHING. EBAY advised that this is likely fraudulent and asked that I send a copy of this letter to their Fraud Department, as well as filing a complaint with the Attorney General in my state and in Virginia (where this company is located), and the Better Business Bureau.

Received collection notice for a debt that I did not incur.

Got In a collection letter from these people, the creditor is eBay. I dont even use eBay. I called them and they gave me several different types of contact information, an email, phone number, user name, none of which belong to me. The agent proceeded to ask me if I know anything about a table and some shoe insoles. No...No I dont have any clue what the *** he is talking about. I am assuming that these could be items sold on eBay..but I have NEVER SOLD ANYTHING ON EBAY! I tell him I have no idea whats going on. He says it seems like fraud, and I should call back in 18 days for their determination. I ask for a reference number and name and he wont give me the information. I start getting super suspicious. I didnt give out any of my personal information. I have reported to eBay, BBB, FTC, and state attorney general office. I actually came across a lawsuit that someone filed against this company. In the documents was a letter extremely similar to mine. Wish something would be done about this debt collection business. They have been scamming people for years.

Scammers

They are fraudsters, claiming to collect a debt on behalf of Ebay. Numerous complaints, yet they are still sending collection letters to victims.

Scam and liars

Sold a perfect iPhone on eBay. seller was a scammer lied and said they sent the phone back. Said they didnt like the color when they knew what color it was. It was marked as delivered but they sent it TO SOMEONE ELSE!!!!! I proved this to eBay that isnt my first or last name clearly. So basically they sent my iPhone to someone else and tried to make me give them money for an item I didnt receive back. Then have this stupid debt collector send mail to my house. Oh and on top of that eBay is holding my money from PayPal not to mention that. And I had close to $400 in my account. Now they saying I owe them $150. I had to get a new PayPal, credit card, and a new eBay account and now I have to change addresses and move because of all the fake mail theyre sending. I might have to get my lawyer involved this. This is insane I see why the company has a 1 star rating.

Disrespectful, rude, law breaking

Caller was rude and disrespectful, identified herself by muttering her name and then normally stating her companies name, then outright refused to restate her name saying she and i qoute "i have no obligation to tell you my #%!$ing name again" Then proceeded to refuse to identify what her company was while demanding my name and other personal information, after checking only seems very likely that it was a scam call as that seems to be all this company does

Predatory Scammers

These people are scammers spamming my phone. I repeatedly tell them to stop calling. The next time they call I'm going to vent every frustration I have on them. They have called me 30 times in 2 weeks.

Horrible

I have an outstanding debt with eBay for $45.42, and Allied International Credit recently sent a bill for the same amount. I was a little confused at first, because I had never received a letter for debt collection for eBay payments. It's normally all digital. I almost thought it was real and considered paying this debt, but indications like 'Western Union Money Order' made me realize it was a scam. Do not fall for it!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - ruined my credit rating

AVOID at all costs. I can’t believe a company such as American Express continue to work with these uneducated, patronising inbred people. Long story short, I had a credit card with American Express which ended up two months in arrears and was subsequently passed to AIC Corp as debt collectors. A payment plan was set up, which I deligently adhered to and every month paid early and usually much more than what was agreed. Despite this, every month I received abusive and aggressive calls telling me I had not paid. I became suspicious when it got to the point where I was unable to obtain any credit for even a £20 phone contract (despite not missing a payment for over 18months). I checked my credit file and found several incorrect missed payments marked on my credit file during the period where I was dealing with this company. I filed a complaint and was called by their ‘team leader’ Alan Carmichael who is a character to say the least. Nasty piece of work who told me there is no way they or American Express have made an error and continuously talked down to me and patronised me. Nevertheless I pursued this and later discovered that AIC had not even been giving my money to American Express - most specifically a payment I sent on 5th March didn’t arrived in my American Express account until 23rd May (the date I filed an official complaint). Results of the investigation found that these missed payment marks were incorrect and subsequently removed, I was charged crazy amounts of interest due to their mistake which was eventually refunded .. oh and I was given £50 as a ‘gesture of goodwill’. Yeah £50 helps the fact that these *** messed up my credit to the point where I couldn’t even rent accommodation for 6 months! I spent hours on the phone, reported them to CSA and The Financial Ombudsman. I will wait for their feedback before persuing this is court. They should not be allowed to operate as they are completely and utterly illegal. I hope this detailed review will deter anybody in a similar situation as me from dealing with these people. If your debt is handed to this company then request that it is given to another. DO NOT HAND ANY MONEY TO THEM.
