Pissed

Do not ever, ever use this moving company. They lost half a truck load of my household items and were delayed at least two months getting the rest of my items to my new house in California. They offered virtually no compensation for the delay or the lost items

More than three month delayed delivery and $3,000 over quote

This company should be avoided at all costs. I contracted them in April 2017 for a move, with a storage period before delivery. I have been trying to arrange for delivery since June 2017. As of today, I have had consistent delays for over THREE MONTHS, and still do not have a confirmed delivery date. All State is a moving broker, meaning that it sub-contracts the actual move to a different company. The idea is that All State handles all the complex logistics to make the move smoother. I have experienced the exact opposite. The company they contracted, Relo Van Lines, has behaved unprofessionally, using pressure tactics, threats, and holding my goods hostage--effectively refusing to deliver. All State reps have been unwilling or unable to keep their own contractor in line, or to arrange delivery. Their status as broker has meant multiple conflicting communications, different agents handling my case, changes in personnel, and on several occasions direct belligerent calls from the carrier, which muddied the waters even further. Since delays mean more profit for both All State and Relo, I can only conclude that this is intentional. On top of the delivery problems, All State is changing a price significantly higher than the "binding estimate" they quoted based on a thorough and accurate inventory. I was quoted $4,800, but the final total is over $8,000, including additional storage costs that I neither want nor need, because of their own failure to actually deliver my goods and complete the job. In the meantime, I have had to spend additional money for temporary accommodations and furnishings for me and my family, at a further cost of nearly $8,000. The cost of All State's failures has been enormous, both financial and emotional. I cannot begin my new job because important documents--social security card, marriage certificate, etc.--are being held by the carrier. I spend time and energy every day trying to get this nightmare to end. All potential customers should try to avoid the miserable experience I have had.

Do not use this company

I would not recommend this company to my own worst enemy. They were nothing but a nightmare from almost day one. They failed to abide by the terms of their own contract. They damaged items, they lost items, they delivered items that were not ours. I could go on but suffice it to say I would give them a big fat 0 on a scale of ten. Also do not use them for a car transport. Again they failed to honor their own contract. And charged more than the original deal. We delt with at least 10 different contacts regarding this move. Worst of all they sub contracted the move to VIP movers, another terrible nightmare.

Great until I had to have things moved

*********DON'T HIRE THIS COMPANY!!!!********* They billed me way too much on there initial estimate. They claimed I would get copies of the actual weight of all items I needed shipping, then the total amount would be adjusted and I would receive a refund!!! HAH. THIS COMPANY THRIVES ON OVER BILLING INITIALLY THEN TOTALLY SILENT WHEN TRYING TO GET A BREAKDOWN OF CHARGES!!!!!!!!!! They will send multiple people your way before you items are shipped. It gives the appearance that they "are on the case". But actually, they just do that b/c it's easy and cheap and keeps you happy until they have your stuff in the truck. I never got an actual weight, and the guy in charge of the moving crew didn't even know what I was talking about. So there is NO COMMUNICATION between All State and the crew who is hired to move your stuff!!! When I did force the issue with the mover, he emailed me copies of his copies, which were hand written and VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. These movers don't work for All State. The salesman, Ian Walbridge, is very good at his job. He speaks well and is fully prepared to minimize any/all issues you inquire about. HE IS A LIAR, A CHEAT AND SOMEONE SHOULD KICK HIS AS%^^&$%&^(&)(*_)*)*^^$%$#!!!!

Nightmare from ***

I would not reccomend this company to my worst enemy. We contracted for a household and auto move from Mississippi to Washington. They have failed to live up to the contract. Items have been lost items have been damaged items delivered that are not ours. They sub contracted moving to colonial van lines who then sub contracted to VIP movers. The auto price quote was not true. We have delt with no less than 12 people regarding household and auto move. They fail to communicate in a responsible manner. AND it's still not over. In my 30 years military I have never dealt with more stress than the last 30 days dealing with All State.

The worst move EVER

This is my 10th cross country move with national van lines, and it was the worst one ever. The sales guy was great (of course) and the move coordinator (MC) started out great, but the local contractors on both ends were awful. On the load day, the guys were four hours late, which caused it to stretch into a two day load. The lead guy told me that day that it is illegal (yes, he said that) to move into CO without all your furniture shrink wrapped, and so I agreed that he should shrink wrap everything to the tune of close to $700 extra. I called my MC to confirm, but couldn't reach her. The second day only the lead guy showed up, and it almost stretched into a third day (with me in a HOTEL with a dog trying to leave town!). I had been given a five day window, so I jumped in my car and drove cross country in two days, but my truck did not leave with me. In the meantime, the MC confirmed that it is not actually ILLEGAL to fail to shrink wrap, so I asked her to address that and remove that bogus charge. I am now living in an empty house on an air mattress with my dog. At one point - and after my window had passed - when I was trying to find out where my stuff was, the same lead guy told me it was sitting at the dock in my old state, waiting for another load going my direction to fill up the truck (!). He threatened me that they would just keep my stuff if I wasn't happy about the delay. When it finally arrived, 8 days after the window, I got 12 hours notice, and no confirmation of the amount owed in advance. A different set of guys unloaded, and while they were at least polite, they ripped a louvered door out of the hinges, and only pretended to fix it, they did not have an answer about the charge for the shrink wrap, and after they left I found FOURTEEN heavy boxes clearly marked BASEMENT buried in the garage behind other boxes - images of 10 of them sitting in the garage are attached and see the stickers! I had to hire someone to move them downstairs. I have called my MC three times about the shrink wrap issue and she says she will return my call but does not. I am not exaggerating when I say this was the worst move ever. I will never ever use them again, nor will I ever use a company that contracts out for labor like this. Once they have your money, they just don't care.

AVOID use of All State Van Lines

All State Van Lines acts as an agent who arranges with another moving company to move a customer. Company makes promises that the actual moving company may or may not comply with. Liability for move issues then placed on third party and All State does not or cannot impose commitments on the third party mover. All State contracted with a third party moving company who failed to comply with the commitments made by All State Representative. When contact made with third party moving company, a representative said All State does not make commitments for them; so All State had no way to abide by commitments made to the All State customer. TERRIBLE BUSINESS MODEL AND TERRIBLE MOVE EXPERIENCE. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THE COMPANY!

Awful Experience

I don't normally leave reviews, but my experience with All State was so awful, that I'll make an exception in this instance. It's hard to imagine a company providing worse customer service. Dealing with this company was a painful experience from start to finish. All State contracted out two other companies, Zip Moving & Storage and Relo Van Lines, to do the move. None of these three companies were particularly concerned with delivering my belongings in a timely manner, which is ironic considering that is their only job. I was initially given a three day window for delivery. Pickup on Thursday, delivery over the weekend. I contacted them at the end of that window after not hearing a word from them, at which point I was told they were running three days late. The entire move from pickup to delivery was only expected to take three days, so running three days late is difficult to accept, especially without an explanation. They care so little about customer service that they didn't even call me to let me know that they wouldn't make the promised delivery window. I guess they assumed that I would figure it out when the truck never showed up. I was initially told that I would be reimbursed $50 for each day that they were late. Another employee then told me that I may not get any reimbursement depending on who was to blame for the delay. They said that they would not reimburse me if it was the fault of one of the two companies that they contracted. After arguing with a number of their employees they finally agreed to $100 dollar reimbursement for the three day delay. After arguing even longer, and being told that I was lucky to be getting anything at all (again, great customer service), I was finally given the $150 reimbursement originally promised. The many, many other complaints include, but are not limited to: -Them telling me that there would be a $100 fee for holiday pickup, even though the holiday in question was St. Patrick's Day, which is not a recognized holiday. -Them attempting to have a family member put additional insurance on my bill, which I had already declined. They presented it as if it had never been discussed, did not mention that I had already declined it, and attempted to have it added to my bill without notifying me. -They do not return calls or respond to emails unless you harass them repeatedly. -They underestimate the weight and subsequent cost of the move on the original quote in what can only be described as a bait and switch. Many other reviewers have reported this same issue, so be prepared to pay much more than what is listed on the original quote. -They did not provide weekend delivery as promised, which was necessary with my schedule at a new job. After the three day delay, they then promised evening delivery, which they also didn't provide. I was forced to take time off of a new job due to All State not meeting any of their promises. Save yourself a lot of headaches, and use another company. You will not be happy with the service you receive from All State.

Worst Movers Ever

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They provide a good quote, but that is about all. They do a bait and switch on you. The quote is good but then the invoice is a whole other story. They include hidden fees. Such as handling fees... $550... Are you not a mover handling furniture?? Doesn't that imply that you will be handling items??? The weight quotes are about half of what is expected. You need to double that $$$/lbs. when you determine your final costs. This company is a third party broker. So the ones on the phone are not the ones at your home. Completely different attitude once they are at your home. Nothing but complaining. Then when they don't bring a truck large enough to pickup all of your things, it is now your responsibility to get those items (THAT THEY COULD NOT SHOVE INTO OR PILED UPON INTO THEIR TRUCK) shipped separately, even if the items were included in the original quote. How is it my fault that they do not plan accordingly? All of the items were on my inventory list. Now, these people that were so nice at the beginning are making me out to be the bad person who is complaining. Sure, now that you have my items and my deposit. I'm still waiting to find out a delivery date. I'm told I will get a phone call 24-48hrs before delivery, whenever that is. My wife has told them that she would rather have them burn our things than have to deal with them any longer. She will not be home when they come to deliver. All I wanted was to have someone come to my home, pick up my things that were already packaged, and deliver them to my new home. I guess that is too much to ask from this company.

Worst decision of our lives to go with this company. They are total scam artists. Lies the whole way through, shotty move job, and impossible to get any info once you pay the deposit. Let our mistake be enough learning-pick a different company!

Worst Moving Company furninture not delivered timely

/9/17 to All State VanLines conned us into thinking our move would be easy and fast. My son was moving from Chicago to Henderson Nevada. They picked the furniture up in Chicago on 2/3/17 and told us the soonest it would get there would be 2/7/17. I started calling the following week to find out where the truck was. Phone calls not returned. Finally, I talked to Samantha on 2/9/17, to only be told that the truck had not even left Chicago. I asked to speak with a supervisor and never got a call back. The following week, my son called and talked to Samantha and asked when his furniture would be delivered. No word. I called and asked and was told the dispatcher was not available and they did not know where the truck was - this was the common excuse. Finally on the 11th the furniture was delivered. We were told that since the truck was late, it would be delivered when my son was available - he works nights. The truck driver called him and told him if he was not up, they would not stop. His couch was ripped in the move; we were told they would reimburse $30 for the late delivery. I complained and argued with them and they said they would reimburse $75 for all the miss communications.

The absolute worst company.

All State Van Lines is the absolute worst. They sweet talked us into signing with them for our cross country move from Kentucky to Oregon. The original guy low-balled us on weight (I'm pretty sure on purpose) in order to get us to sign. He told us that our weight would probably be lower than he stated, that we would know exactly when the truck would drop our stuff off after they picked it up, that they were committed to us as customers. Then, at every turn, the cost increased by several thousand dollars. When the movers arrived to load us, they rushed packing and moving into one day. The mover tried to get my husband to come pick him up at some rest stop off of the highway before meeting him which was really weird. The movers did not carefully pack our stuff and broke several things. They didn't leave until almost midnight the night they packed us and charged us way too much for the packing material. Then, we were guaranteed that our stuff would be delivered by February 22. However, the delivery date keeps getting pushed back and now All State is telling us they don't know when it will be delivered but it will probably be another week. They are not quick to return phone calls and it's nearly impossible to get to a supervisor to speak with. They hide all kinds of things in your contract to trick you on purpose so they can take advantage of you. Now, they are only offering to reimburse us $30 a day for being late which is ridiculous since we are paying them over $11,000 dollars for this move. I have never felt so scammed in my entire life. We don't even have our stuff yet and who knows if we will get it. Do NOT use All State Van Lines if you actually want good customer service and to have your things moved in a professional way.

All State Van Lines - Moving Service Review

Where do I begin. There are not words to describe the experience I've had. Gave me estimate of just of. 5,400 ended up paying just under 8,000 was suppose to be at my house on 2/12 between 7 and 9 no one showed up truck broke down ???hmmm. So they contracted out another (relo)look them up. Prodigy mid Atlantic....moving company to be there by 12 to 4 the next day. They arrived about 5:30. Then they pulled there truck into my neighbors front yard and got stuck. So by 8 they start doing paper work by 9 I'm throwing them out of my house..... Just to tired and mad to deal with it So they come back this is Wednesday by now suppose to be moved Monday. 2 guys and 2 trucks don't know why 4 people wear not sent start loading truck 16 hrs to load these two trucks it was a house full of furniture but... ( I have 30 years in furniture business) this could have been done in less time. At 1:30 on thurs morning there done. Then we get to destination 2 days later 8hr drive arrive at storage location 10:30 am start unloading at 3:00 pm. Due to the fact of us debating the $2,000 increase from original estimate. DO NOT I repeat DO NOT use look at or any associate your self with this company or it's sub contractors.... I forgot about the 2 county police and 2 state troopers at my house do to them being stuck in the yard

Horribly incompetent and expensive move to Florida

This is a complaint/warning. Be wary of All State Van Lines Relocation. Early 2016, I searched moving companies for a 1,100 mile move. Allstate’s Joe Barney claimed the best price and best customer service, but neither proved accurate. He rated the move as small and inexpensive. We spoke several times, and he viewed our goods on a realtor website. I described items not visible on the website. Each time, a quality control guy confirmed the price, which was estimated around $2,200 to $2,300. I paid a deposit of nearly $1,000. I told Barney the movers will depart prior to us, and we planned to stop for a business trip. He said that should not be a problem, the movers do not take the load directly to the destination. They stop at other locations, and may temporarily store the load. He assured the business trip should not be a problem. The move date was set, and was given to Roxanne Hudson, “Travel Coordinator”. She repeated that our business trip would not be a problem. She gave us a window of 3/22 – 4/5 for the delivery. During that time, I eliminated heavy items, including a motorcycle and large foutan. I thought that would reduce the cost. The movers arrived in a Ryder truck at noon, Tuesday, 3/22, and gave us the truth: AllState is only a broker; the cost was $1,400 over the estimate; the movers needed to deliver on Friday, 3/25, possibly negating our business trip; and they continually hear complaints of Allied incompetence/misleading information. As the movers said, ‘You pay the deposit and get screwed’. We notified Hudson who promised to work to extend the delivery. She promised to call us 10:30 the next morning. We then planned not to leave until after her 10:30 call. Wednesday morning 10:30, 3/23, no call from Hudson, and our calls to were unanswered. Calls to Barney were also unanswered. Neither answered or returned messages all day. We were left completely in the dark. We departed later that day and arrived at our business trip very late. We finally reached Hudson early Thursday morning, 3/24. She remembered nothing about the move, and said AllState has no control over the delivery date. She added that the movers plan to arrive Friday, and warned that delays would cost $1,000 a day. In a furious panic, my wife called the movers directly. They rescheduled the delivery for Saturday, 3/26 at no extra cost. I demanded Allied replace Hudson, and I planned to withhold payment until I get answers. We had to hurry on the 900 mile trip, and I will never forget my wife’s worry. During our trip, Thursday 3/24, Chad and Kerlene (Hudson’s supervisor) called, but only to ask for payment. Chad had no interest in our problems. Kerlene only made excuses. I told Kerlene we did not need AllState at this point and were communicating directly with the movers. Saturday morning, 3/26, Kerlene called with a delivery time. I informed her that the movers told us 2 hours before, and repeated that we did not need Allied. They again described Allied incompetence and misleading information, and begged us not to let it affect their any tip. In dealing with Allied our business trip was cancelled, and a $2,300 move became almost $4,000.

FRAUD ALERT- BBB does nothing to protect customers

Please read these reviews… FRAUD ALERT No matter how affordable they seem or simple your move may seem; THEY SIMPLY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU, YOUR THINGS OR ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE and that is before they damaged many of our personal items during the move. They DO NOT HAVE PROPER INSURANCE (they expect you to know more about moving than they do). HAD TO HIRE SEPARATE COMPANY (AT OUR COST) TO FINISH THE JOB. Grossly underestimated the overall cost (bait and switch), failed to obtain insurance requirements (expected us to remind them, at our cost), significantly delayed the packing, travel time and delivery, poorly packed 90% of our items and 25% were damaged upon delivery, we had to hire a separate company to finish the job. Horrible service and destroyed goods… THAT IS ALL STATE… We have several complaints against All State and the Better Business Bureau is helpless because All State knows the system. SO PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM OR ANY AFFILIATES OR PARTNERS. ALL STATE EMPLOYEE STATES THAT ALL COMPLAINTS COME TO HER FROM THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU and to NOT BOTHER. Please do not use them for your own good, we wish we had done more research on them and hope we can prevent future issues for others. 1- Grossly underestimated cost. Original cost was more than doubled, costing us thousands of dollars. Was not provided this estimate until movers were already packing. Bait and switch with no other options because they already had our stuff. 2 - Failure to obtain insurance for move. All State neglected to inquire whether A Certificate of Insurance was needed to move into a building. MOVING IS THEIR JOB, NOT OURS… SO LEARN THE MOVING INDUSTRY BEFORE USING ALL STATE. After goods were in transit to building, they required us to contact, hire and pay for new movers to pick-up and move goods into the building or force us into storage unit against our will. This was a mistake on the part of All State and we had to front the additional bill costing us thousands more. All State agreed to pay a few hundred dollars of the bill. (they spent 3 days checking audio tapes to verify the conversation and gave us virtually nothing). THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT ACCURATE ESTIMATES OR PROPER BUSINESS PRACTICES. 3 - Late arrival. All State estimated arrival for pick-up from 10am-12pm, arrived at 4pm and started at 5pm. As a result, was in my home until 2AM. Expected delivery from 9/13-9/17, goods delivered on 9/20. Estimated arrival on 9/20 at 11AM, arrived at 1:30PM. The 2.5 hour late arrival at delivery cost me an additional $500 because I had new movers waiting for All State given point (2) above. Additional $500 was at my cost and All State disputes delay and said any compensation would not make good business sense… THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR TIME. All State sent us a Settlement Claim for the amount of $150, which would not cover these costs or even the tip on the second movers we were forced to hire. 4 - Insurance claims. Due to late arrival at pick-up of goods, movers quick and inadequately explained insurance policy. It was explained to me that insurance would be covered at $0.60 per pound. When I was sent Insurance paperwork, I learned Insurance was $0.60 per pound per item, which is a significant miscommunication in total amount claimed from insurance. INSURANCE OF YOUR GOODS (60 cents) BY ALL STATE IS ENOUGH OF A REASON TO NOT USE THEM, PLUS THEY DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE TO MOVE TO ALL BUILDINGS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT INSURANCE THE MOVERS THEMSELVES OR ANY DAMAGE BY THE MOVERS. 5 - Due to poor packing, there was significant damage to goods, including a shattered chair, punctured couch, broken table, shattered lamps, in addition to many scratches on wooden items and broken plates and Glasswear. Per item 4 above, there is limited insurance to cover these - likely a maximum of $150 (moved cost nearly $10K after bait and switch and hiring properly insured movers). We should recover for thousands of dollars in damage. We believe we were misled by the movers on how the insurance worked, given their late arrival and need for me to sign all paperwork quickly so they could begin the move. Our contact is Kerlene Civil at 855-266-****, ext. 178. Kerlene specifically advised us by phone NOT to reach out to the Better Business Bureau because the complaint will ultimately wind up with her anyway. We found this to be misleading advice. DO NOT USE THEM OR ANY AFFILIATES OR PARTNERS.
