It's junk

Design if interface is pathetic. In particular viewing a map and selecting and reading details on rules in your home state requires 5 button pushes and waiting on a 24 second timer before being allowed to continue. Timer starts initially when map appears, then resets as you look at home state details, restarting only when you finish looking at details. Once finished, you wait a full 24 seconds to move on. Or if you choose to look at nothing, you can continue at 24 seconds of daydreaming. If

Avoid this course

This is the most repetitive online course I have ever experienced. It is not worth the hours invested and is useful for only three years to get an insurance discount. In addition, all drivers on your policy have to take the course to get the discount.

Who set this horrible course up????

After spending hours doing each chapter and receiving 100% for quizzes I was locked out for ONE question wrong. I thought I would ONLY have to redo Last unit. I was 3/4 way through. I called and rep said Id have to start whole course over again. Againhours doing and passing unit after unit and start over from the beginning??? What idiot computer person set this up???

Taken this class last year what a waste of time

Sat in front of my computer for 6 hrs and had to listen to medical problems. Then repeats over and over again what a waste of money this driving course is. So many people say the same thing and AARP keeps giving this class.

Wasted 6 hours of my time taking AARP Online Defensive Driving Course

I have been taking online Defensive Driving Courses from various companies when I came across the AARP offering I expected a quality experience. What I encountered was a poorly established site that was lacking in many user friendly features. More alarming was the subject matter content. It addressed minimal useful driving information and targeted with extreme negative bias the over 50 age group. It addressed shortcomings of the elderly, medications, lack of exercising, and strongly suggested alternate means of transportation vs driving your own vehicle. It went as far as advising how to inform individuals that they should stop driving. Finally the presentation was so repetitive that it insulted the intelligence of the course participant. AARP this is nowhere near the standard of excellence expected from your organization.

After you pay and start, if you take a break you are no longer allowed to open app.

I started course then took a break. Now impossible to return to course. What a rip off. AVOID SCAM AVOID

Absolutely insulting to seniors with average intelligence presenter was excellent but content severely lacking

video demeaning to seniors with its childlike presentation content seemed to assume we have never driven before prefer content with defensive driving techniques stressed or changes in rules of roaddo not waste your time

Many links to videos and additional info don't work. AARP will not refund $$

Throughout the course, there are links to additional material. Some work, some don't. After hittong four links that did not work (error code 404 -- the page does not exist). I reported to AARP. They said they were removing invalid links but could not give a date. I asked for a refund. They said I would not be able to complete the course if they gave me a refund. Not good.

Recently completed AARP mature driver improvement course

2/8/2023 I want to give a 5 star review to Mr. Herb Yonge for his lively and engaging AARP Mature Driver class in Concord, CA. Sitting in a classroom is not top priority for most of us, but Mr Yonge's thoughtful and encouraging participation made the time fly by. I highly recommend seeking out a class with Mr. Yonge, a man who loves this work.

I retook the online course it was much easier this time. I took it the first time I couldn't believe how hard it was to maneuver from page to page. , but it was BETTER!!! Second round

You could not get back in from the specifics for your state without turning the tablet off and rebooting it. It was extremely boring with the repetitions many times. They must think we are all suffering from dementia. At the end there were one or two questions that were details that you were unlikely to remember from all the repeated generalities. It was supposed to be 6 hours for my state but I believe it took more than 8 boring hours. The price was right and at least you can now do it on a tablet. They used to have it on flash which was difficult to access. So glad to be done with it.

Not Happy with resolution

My course kept crashing. It's a brand new computer so the issue wasn't on my end anyway it would take me back to the beginning of the unit that I had already covered and so I spent an extra hour you know redoing work that I had already done. By the time they responded to me I had completed the course so they said oh it resolved itself and they didn't address the fact that their course crashes.

Potential Security and Identity Theft Risk

They don't disclose before you buy the course that you can't take it unless you disclose a bunch of sensitive personal information that can be a big security risk! Why do they require my birth date, driver license number, phone number, address, etc. just to take this course? I generally support AARP, but this is ridiculous and unnecessary just to take a driver safety course. Their support email were useless trying to get this answered.

Signed up and paid for course. 4 days now & unable to complete

Serious IT problem going on with program. Continually stops and throws you off unit. Can't get back on unless unit is started over. Got to end of unit 5 after 4 days ( of program starting & stopping) and after completing review it stopped & threw me off. Complete waist of time & money. Definitely not a 6 hour process!Do not bother.Do not bother taking course.

In a way, I initially felt the way some.

I'm a retired NJ police officer dealing in traffic for some 15 years. Some time ago, since I had reached middle 80s, the MVC requested that I provide doctors letter, opthomologist report on vision and take the driver's test and road test. I failed the written test twice. When I told the young lad working there he said the test was designed for new drivers but I told him I had been driving almost 70 years. His answer: We don't have the senior's test there. Well, I passed the third time and did the road test one time through. My point: The driving course is for first time NJ residents.
