Sent check on June 19, 2023 for $30 to renew for 3years. We have no cards and more mail to renew.

I am offended by your pissedconsumer.com I called a customer service number to say we kept getting paperwork to renew and l had sent the check. We just received our cards. So if you want to call me a pissed consumer then we are dealing with the wrong business!! This is terrible customer service!! Hope a manager sees this as l am now pissed!!!

Unhappy with AARP Hartford program

I have had auto insurance with the Hartford for years, under the AARP program. I recently had an incident where a large dog ran at my auto and jumped into the front fender damaging the fender and drivers door. Hartford was treating the incident as an accident claim, with a $1,000 deductible and loss of diminishing deductible. I learned that this should be a comprehensive claim, where I had only a $100 deductible. I eventually got the claim changed. Both my wife and I have been claim-free for well over 20 years. After what I consider very poor communication and service, and difficulty getting them to change the claim info on my account which continued to show $1,000 deductible, I finally got the claim settled. After becoming frustrated with a person, I was forwarded to at Hartford, she claimed I was being rude, by just insisting on a straight answer to a question. When I went to pick up my vehicle, I had to upfront over $2,000 at the body shop, which has since been refunded by Hartford. As a retired senior and AARP member the deductible of $1,000 in stead of $100, would have been a problem for us. However, the big shock was when I recently received my renewal for my auto insurance, which had an increase of over 44% per annum. Yes, over 44 per cent annual increase. So, after I called out Hartford on trying to charge me 10 times what I should be paying for the dog incident, they increase my premium by over 44%. Here are some interesting facts about The Hartford, Recent annual profit of $535 mil. Based on approx. 250 working days, this is a profit of $2.1 mil, per day. Owners equity in Hartford is estimated at over $13 Billion. CEO earns estimated $16 mil per annum. This is an average of $307,692 every single week. Another interesting fact is that Hartford made campaign donations to over 400 elected officials of both parties, as well as millions to their association groups, who lobby and donate to the political parties. So I dont expect any help there. I often wonder whether AARP is serving its members or the political interests of those running the organization.

To arrange for reenrollment

Customer Service rep did not inform me ahead of time that entering the new debit card meant the system would try to pull the payment.

Mail, mail, mail

AARP has been deluging me with mail offers for years. 100 % of them have to do with insurance (blech !). I don't like the way these insurance salesmen hide behind the misleading title of American Association of Retired Persons. They (allegedly) used to offer other things as well ; advice on living with the disgusting disability of old age amongst other reasonable topics. Now it's just insurance. No thanks. I'd appreciate it if you'd come and get 15 years worth of mail - it is starting to pile up.

They claim to look out for seniors. Insurance offered thru them via hartford no cheaper! Car no cheaper. Homeowners was over 3 times as high and less coverage!

Inaccurate claims about service from aarp. Not what they say they are. Mislead people. Total scam if you ask me

AARP Expedia Travel charges more for car insurance that the actual car rental!!!!!!

I called Budget early the day of travel to confirm car rental only to be told Budget's insurance coverage is lower that Expedia AARP Insurance fee. I immediately made a call to Expedia AARP to be told to call the Travel Protection Healthline at 855-266-**** myself to cancel. Finally getting a person at Travel Protection Healthline only to be told that Expedia AARP needs to cancel, they could not cancel as it was the day of my travels. And the excuse you are giving me is that you could not reach them to even question them about the cancellation is totally ridiculous and unacceptable! Imagine how I, the customer, felt during the day of my travels to try to cancel the high insurance fee that you say will save AARP members. I have requested for a Supervisor to give me a call the day of my travels to no avail. I am seeing if they will respond to my email.
