Over charged on check cashing

Location on Bellaire Blvd charged 11% to exchange a check without prior knowledge that they would be charging that amount. Claims to only know once they submit it to their bank. Quite honestly a robbery. Then have the nerve to give me a number thats not even corportates then when i call to ask for the right number they provide me with the phone number for their notary public which ofcourse they dont answer and dont respond to email.

Overcharged at 5424 Antoine drive suite B store number 8 Houston Tx. 77091

Have reason to believe this company display false advertisment.Due to sign of 1%check cashing does not specify which check out of God only knows how many there are except payroll. The sign doesn't even say what kinds of checks. The consumer only learns this after a 10min. wait to process. The teller/manager called me back to the window then slide an envelope thru the little hole. Not counting the money in front of me. So I counted it in front of him,to find out out of $1,861.56 check counted $1,630.which means he deducted $231.56.Denied the Right to Cancel when I ask for my check back sliding the money back in the lil hole. The manager responded " you can go to their website to file a complaint." "You can call the police." Once they get your check behind that glass it's then confiscated by their employees. They will not give it back to the owner..What give them the Right to go in the money that intended for myself from my insurance company.

Check scamming

Original review Sep 10, 2022
These people will use your info. They have your information in a text. Not only that they cash checks without verifying them first. I dont know if thats legal or not but need to be looked into. You can request to give your check back and theyll literally argue and come up with 10 reasons why they can get it cashed and the others wont. This place a joke and the scamming. If youre not Hispanic I would recommend not using their service.

Fraudulent check

I received a call from you last Thursday regarding a fraudulent check a lady was trying to cash. Apparently my checks were stolen out of my mailbox. You indicated you were notifying the police and my bank needs further information (police report number). I have been trying to call you back, left messages, but have yet to hear back. Please contact me as soon as possible.

They extorted money and information from me

TL;DR: Houston, TX - This place destroyed my stimulus check so that I could not bring it anywhere else. I had to "agree" to their huge fee and give them a bunch of information or throw away $1,200! I made the mistake of walking up to the window of A1 Check Cashing (the one on Telephone road inside the Swift gas station) and passing my $1,200 stimulus check under the bullet-proof glass. I asked the clerk what they charged, and she told me she refused to quote a price until I "created a profile", and signed the check(!). I asked for a ballpark estimate, and she said $100. I asked for my check back. She got on the phone with her boss, and refused to give my check back for three or four minutes (I got insistent). Then she wrote VOID on the face of the check before sliding it back! She said that was "policy" and I could still cash it anywhere else (no attempt to justify it beyond that). I even went to the place next door to check, and of course you can't cash a voided check. Now my choice was to "give" A1 my business or throw away $1,200. I had to give these scammers my social security number (the real one, I tried a fake one first), a fingerprint, a photo of my ID, and pay $100 for the privilege. It seems to me like they committed at least felony destruction of property in front of a bunch of cameras, and I'm guessing they expect to get away with this kind of thing. The places are parasitic at the best of times, but I didn't expect a business in my neighborhood would literally rob me.
